The Republican Party May Become A Thing Of The Past And That’s A Good Thing
My cellphone just rang a few minutes ago and it was my “G.O.P. Insider” who has rarely let me down on the other end. This man who is like an uncle to me — an uncle who I absolutely LOVE to argue poly-tix with — was about to embark upon on one of his typical, heated, lovable and always entertaining rants:
“2500 people in New Orleans today and where the hell was David Vitter? Where the hell was Bobby Jindal? I’m PI$$ED and they’re the next ones on my ‘must call’ list. This is inexcusable. I just started walking through the crowd, personally polling people. Are you a Republican? Are you an independent? Which party do you most closely relate to? And you know what, _____? Maybe 20% said they were Republicans — MAYBE! And you know what else? Vitter and Jindal were NOWHERE to be found. They should have been there and they should’ve had somebody taking down names and numbers. They both dropped the ball and I’m going to call them next and chew some a$$!
Good point. And good riddance to the so-called “Party of Lincoln”, which has become more like the “Conservative Authoritarian Liberal” wing of the Democratic Party these days anyway. They’re on their way out and I couldn’t be any happier. Wait — I could be happier — if my fellow “Real Liberals” would proactively threaten to leave the Democratic Party and establish a true “Liberal” party again since the Democratic so-called “leadership” represents nothing more than the “Liberal Authoritarian” wing of the G.O.P. these days as well.
If we are unable to return the two existing major parties to embracing a TRULY split government with TRUE “Liberals” and TRUE “Conservatives” arguing amongst each other, I say we ditch them BOTH and establish a third and fourth party to kick them all out of our government buildings and back into the private sector, the courtrooms, the real estate offices and the schools from whence they came. One way to get there is through these “disorganized” (?) Tea Parties and another is for ALL of us to DEMAND public financing of all federal elections for the top-polling five political party nominees and ALL of them get $80m per campaign — PERIOD. Oh, and ALL of them get to participate in ALL public debates. Hmm… I think I like my idea best of all, don’t you? Now, back to the “Tea Party” thing…
The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder also takes note of the facts mentioned above in his “must read” column entitled “In Defense Of The Tax-Day Tea Parties“:
“… There’s no evidence that official Republican strategists connected with the Republican National Committee, John Boehner’s office or the NRSC had the insight to conceive of these events, much less to try and bigfoot the organizers. …”
In other words, my “like an uncle to me GOP Insider friend” is JUST NOW taking notice of the fact the Republicans are dropping the ball. Where is the “Hip-Hop G.O.P.“, gun-grabbing new RNC Chairman Michael Steele and what is HE up to these days? He must be too involved in trying to figure out how to steal those “scary looking assault rifles” from the Citizenry to be taking notice of a bunch of “Potential Radical Right-Wing Terrorist Extremists“, eh?
On the other hand, TOO BAD the Democratic Party is too busy trying to ignore it’s TRUE LIBERAL base, you know — folks like myself, for example — rather than recruiting and embracing us as well. Too bad for THEM, I mean — I’m doing just fine as a completely independent (small “I” on purpose) libertariani-ish (small “L” on purpose) Liberal (capital “L” on purpose). There are plenty of others just like MOI and sooner or later we shall rise and take on the TRUE CONSERVATIVES once they succeed in terminating their own cancer called “The Grand Old Party”. I’ve said it before — the Eagle needs both a left wing and a right wing to fly and right now, we have NEITHER. Scary.
Bring it ON.

“Must Reads” — All sides of the spectrum: Allapundit (Hot Air — Right) points out President Barack Obama should be paying attention to these rallies also; Matthew O’Keefe (Papamoka Straight Talk — Left) says the phrase “Republican Tea Baggers” is an oxymoron; DougJ (Balloon Juice — Left) is quick to point out some hypocisy in the whole picture; Andrew Sullivan (The Daily Dish — Moderate) points out how it’s meaningless for the Tea Baggers to protest government spending unless they protesters are willing to be specific; Michelle Malkin (Right) — “You Might Be A Right Wing Extremist If…“

I agree with you completely. Both parties are pretty much the same except one party hates abortions and the one doesn’t. One party wants oil and the other right now doesn’t. For the most part, they’re synonymous of each other.
I’d love to see the day when there were four or five parties that were all getting public financing to potentially win an election. Could you imagine all these candidates potentially going, “Yeah…I know I can fix the problem and this is how,” and then getting elected and actually DOING it? That’d be the day…Ah yes…A sweet day indeed.

Thanks for the link bro! I tried to put up a recipro’ but Blogger is down? Maybe the folks at blogger went to the tea bag party and got hammered? Don’t know.

I think you and your uncle miss the point of these rallies.
They are not about a party. They really are not. They are about a party running freakin amuck.
The democrats. AFTER……the GOP ran freakin amuck.
The rally I went to last night not a single GOP’er that Im aware of showed up. In fact there were several democrats at my rally and we talked civily because we actually found common ground. Hallelujah!!!……..die internet…….die…. These rallies are about the people. Not the politicians or the parties.
Thats what everyone seems to be missing in all this.

You are spot on with your assessment, at least as regards what the protests were about. They were about individuals wise enough to understand what the tsunami of debt coming our way means to our future.
The reaction of the left to the “Tea Parties” also dished out some super-sized portions of irony. The Leftosphere ranted about everything from “how dumber those morons than us much smarties” to “scary-evil Rethug Neo-con racists”. Not only did they show that their staunch support for freedom of speech only applies to speech they can echo, they also demonstrated that they are fully as oblivious as the GOP. Any political party that dismisses public demonstrations as “ignorant” or “unpatriotic” does so at it’s peril. If the Left continues with this attitude, the GOP will eventually get enough chances to take advantage of it’s opportunity.

We don’t really have to worry too much about the Republican Party. Obama is making sure that there will be plenty of Republicans voting in the next election.
Obama will also be getting a great deal of help in this endeavor from the myopic idiots at the daily kos and huffington post. They’ve gone well beyond just making people ashamed to be democrats and are moving into the areas in which they will make people ashamed to be humans. The view from the kos is so incredibly one-sided, bigoted, and hate-filled that it is impossible to believe anyone could take it seriously. I’m sure the few who do are severely brain damaged.
But they always are good for a few laughs.

Just remember.
George W. Bush once had a 70 percent approval rating too.

What absolutely kills me is how the tea parties actually seem to have been hijacked from the Libertarians. They had originally organized the event to protest the tax and spend from BOTH parties (which makes sense, and I can understand), and then all of a sudden, it became the “FNC Tax Day Tea Parties” with no real clear agenda or message.
I’m just curious, but were there any liberal counter-protests like there were to the anti-war protests? I’m just assuming that there had to have been, since the left reportedly doesn’t value free speech as much as the right.

I’m with you GTL, four or five parties, all financed the same, and let’s go one step further: Britain only allows six weeks of campaigning. Wouldn’t that be nice.
As for counter protesting yesterday at the tea parties, I saw one video with Pink Code, several onsite bloggers mentioned a few Demos at their Tea Parties and a couple of Right bloggers are complaining about Ron Paul supporters showing up.

Six weeks? Hmmm… probably another great idea, Gaia
11:06 pm on April 16th, 2009 10
6 weeks rather than two years? Why that is abridgment of free speech! We need LONGER campaigns! 3, 4, maybe ever 5 year plans! I mean campaigns.
But, what the heck do I know? I’m a t’reist, jsut ast O-BOW-ma. (I love how his people are tripping over themselves spinning and backpedaling on that)

I really hate to state the obvious, because I’m sure you all have already noticed… Obama has never been happy serving the people. He is only happy when he’s campaigning – that way he can tell everyone just what they want to hear, but he is never held accountable when he invariably fails to deliver on his promises.
As soon as Obama was elected to the Illinois State Senate, he started running for the U.S. Senate. As soon as he became a U.S. Senator, he began running for President. Now that he is President of the U.S. – that’s right, you guessed it – he has now started his campaign for President of the world.
Yes, Obama wants a One World government, socialist of course, and he wants to be in charge. That’s why he was saying all the things people wanted to hear while he was visiting various key countries. He was (and is) campaigning again. Of course it might be a 5 or 6 year campaign, but that’s his new goal – President of the World. That is also why he has exactly zero loyalty to this country or to the people of this country.
But after he becomes President of the World, what will he run for next??? God???

Joe, you consider Fox News to be Obama’s “people”? They are, after all, the folks who debunked the whole “gub’mint’s out to get the right” conspiracy theory. What’s funnier is the fact that the series of reports were actually ordered by the previous administration– again, uncovered by Fox News in a rare moment of actual journalism.

When I say O-Bow-mas people I’m talking about the hacks, retreads, and tax dodgers he has working for him.
This was released under O-BOW-ma, it has his imprimature. He could have scrapped it rahter than released it. He owns it.
As for a “rare mement of actual journalism” yeah, it is quite rare. Now if CNN, NBC, CBS, et al can do some of it rather than just parott the DNC party line.

Brilliant notion regarding the elections. Where do I sign to go demonstrate for that?
Bama
The DHS report may have been initiated under the previous administration, but some of the more distasteful “findings” reference President Obama. As poorly written as that piece of crap was, it could easily be read that one not in support of our “President of Color” is a racist and therefore a danger to the Republic.

I have a funny joke, here it is.
The Republican Party!
