Señor McCain of Arizona Panama: “Dot monz, Barack Obama, dees monz… dees monz, he call Señora Sarah Palin a ‘Peeg’, he deed!“
Ben Smith of The Politico is reporting our loveable “war hero“, Señor J. Sidney McCain Para Él Presidenté is having a little fun (?) with a comment of Barack “Barry Obomber” Obama’s where he made the “mee-stake” of mentioning the words “peeg” and “leepsteek” in the same sentence — “Dees monz, he ees calling my running mate a PEEG!“, snorts J. Sidney McDubya.
So, ANYWAY — just what was it Barry Obama REALLY said to offend our native Panamanian, later to LEGALLY migrate to Arizona hero?
DEESS!!!:
“… Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin’s new “change” mantra.
“You can put lipstick on a pig,” he said as the crowd cheered. “It’s still a pig.”
“You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It’s still gonna stink.”
“We’ve had enough of the same old thing.”
(Snip!)
“… The McCain campaign is now saying Obama called Palin a pig, which he didn’t. …”
Way to go, J. Sidney. That’s the way to further reinvent your “I’m no George Bush” image — by taking tiny amounts of questionable “evidence” (remember those WMD’s you and your “newest, bestest buddy”, President Bush, insisted were in Iraq, Señor?) and knitting them all together in a knee-jerk fashion, then blowing his freaking top over his own perceived, UNIQUE “reality” of the situation.
At least, this time, Panama John’s knee-jerk reaction didn’t result in the tragic loss of thousands of U.S. and Coalition of The Billing troop lives, so that’s the UPSIDE on this one.
There are political games, folks, then there are certain incidents, which indicate a horrible lack of judgment on the part of a so-called “leader” who wants to rule the “free world” and this latest incident most certainly does highlight that fact. Whether you lean to the left or the right shall sway you to which man should be your LAST choice for the presidency, one way or the OTHER.

My personal roundup — click on the article to read these selected blogger reactions in their entirety…
“Oh-So-Offended Righty Bloggers”…
“… Was Barack actually referring to the Governor of Alaska — and the GOP’s vice presidential nominee — as a pig? Or was he so clueless that he didn’t understand the impact of his words? …”
“… How come The One keeps running into these funny little misunderstandings with comments aimed at women politicians? …”
“… Is that what Obama’s thinking here? Get McCain and Palin to overreact and make everyone think she’s just a silly girl who gets upset by stray references to pigs? …”
And from the moderate-left -slash- “centrist” blogospheres:
“Obama Did Not Call Sarah Palin A Pig”
“… I hoped that John McCain might have helped this campaign be a little more civil than the last few presidential elections; I truly did. Goes to show how wrong I was; he’s not waging a respectful and honorable campaign, he’s waging a campaign like a crying little four year old–I know, I have one. …”
“… Obama was actually referring to the McCain campaign’s recent embrace of the “change” theme. But it doesn’t take Kreskin to see what’s coming: In the next several hours, an army of conservative bloggers and/or commentators will seize upon this, take it out of context, and attempt to paint Barack Obama a sexist. …”
“… The McCain campaign is trying to whip up phony outrage across the wing-nut-o-wrong that Obama was making a sexist remark directed at Palin. They even had a “press call” about it this evening. No, it isn’t April Fools yet, why do you ask? …”
“… It seems like more than a few people are just telling it like it is that McCain is lying as bad as Palin now. …”
“… Maybe Gov. Palin shouldn’t have been so quick to call herself a pit-bull in lipstick. She’s the one who injected gender quips into the race with that statement during her RNC acceptance speech. …”

You folks are absolutely right! There is no reason anyone would associate “lipstick” with Palin and “old” with McCain, particularly in a discussion of Palin and McCain. (LOL)
And the “I don’t know how she manages five kids. Michelle and I can barely keep up with two,” was just kind of an off hand reference that had no underlying meaning either. Right!
We don’t think he is dumb. We think he thinks he is oh so cute and clever.

lipstick-pig-lipstick-pig-lipstick-pig-lipstick-pig-lipstick-pig-lipstick-pig-lipstick-pig-lipstick-pig-
There, I said it; I said it again! Just when we think “silly” could not possibly be taken to greater heights!
I think I am going to begin every single one of my posts now with “You can put lipstick on a pig, but….”
So tell me, does the McCain campaign now want to own “lipstick on a pig” much like they want to own “Barracuda”. Now THATS a campaign theme!

Heh… yannow, I wonder if one of our readers can put some “Leepsteek on a peeg” lyrics to this scratch track instrumental I wrote: LEEPSTEEK ON A PEEG — FIRST DRAFT COPY
You just never KNOW what these people are gonna come up with next, do ya, my friend (and no, I didn’t type that in McCain’s nasally, condescending “voice” — I meant it)

-remember those WMD’s you and your “newest bested buddy, President Bush” insisted were in Iraq, Señor?-
I forgot about that.
I do remember those WMD’s that President Clinton and many Democratic members of Congress insisted were in Iraq, however.

“You can put lipstick on a pig,” he said as the crowd cheered. “It’s still a pig.”
“You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It’s still gonna stink.”
Does anyone actually believe this wasn’t planned in advanced? It’s offensive and the point is to generate deniable outrage to hijack the narrative and put his own spin on the last news cycle. The media are carrying his water big time.

Please!!! when Cheney told Kerry that in 04 it was ok.When Obama says it,it is sexist! You think China,Iran or Russian leaders will give a damn about Palin lipstick after McCain dies in January? Get ready to speak Chinese or Russian!

Really, the only way that McCain’s reading holds is if Palin is the lipstick and McCain is the pig. (Because clearly she’s dressing him up.) If I was Palin, I’d be really pissed that McCain kept insisting that I was the “pig” in the scenario. (She should fire him.)

“… If I was Palin, I’d be really pissed that McCain kept insisting that I was the “pig” in the scenario. (She should fire him.)”
OMG! I swear, sooner or later it’ll hit me, the fact I MUST not be drinking a beer or a cup of coffee when logging in to read my comments. Wiping the monitor off yet again

So what is the difference between a Bull dog with lipstick and a pig with lipstick? I do not think there is much of a difference except people love pork especially politicians.
Obama is being coached by Biden I can tell. I bet Biden eats the Moose Lady up in Debates and I am not speaking of eaten up in a good way.
I wonder if Biden loves Bacon too?

Actually, you’re right Ole Blue — pigs are cuter than pit bulls now that you mention it

GTL
On the surface I agree with you. It was just the use of a common phrase in an unscripted format. Sen. Obama’s problem comes from the unfortunate fact that the media and the Left have been attacking Gov Palin for anything and everything. This comes off looking like a cheap shot twist on her now famous “pitbull…etc.” joke. Under normal circumstances, no big deal, but then what about ths race is normal? Sen. Obama lost 20% of white working class women since his convention speech. Maybe it would be a good idea to not try to lose yet more. Just a thought, but a gaffe that can be construed to compare Gov. Palin to a pig may not be the best way to win back those voters. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Blue
I’ll take some of that action. I’ll bet you 20 GTL dollars that Sen. Biden will be lucky to hold his own with Gov. Palin. Bear in mind that Sen Biden never met a run-on sentence he didn’t like.

The left can try to spin this however they would like. The fact is, most reasonable Americans realize that Obama attempted to slap Gov. Palin by referring to her as a pig in lipstick.
Again, Obama demonstrates that he really is NOT Presidential material.

Oops. That’s antichrist GTL, I thought you were the Anarchist !
It isn’t the idea of a pig in lipstick that is offensive, I’m sure quite a few pigs are dressed up occasionally for various… ahem… reasons
and I’m sure their owners find them very attractive at times… It is the idea that a Presidential candidate would refer to one of his/her opponents as a pig in lipstick that is beyond the pale.
The evidence is piling up against Obama*; close friendships with Convicted Felons, Terrorists, Racists; clear demonstrations of his disdain for women in power, complete disrespect for anyone who owns a gun or practices religion, etc., etc., etc. I guess his reference to Gov. Palin as a pig in lipstick should not surprise anyone but should be expected.

Heh… FandB — I swear I’d love to have you pick up those talk radio spots I turn down, bro — as a representative of The GTL — you’re nuts, I’m nuts, you’re part of the blog, etc., etc., etc.
And you’re correct — thanks for setting me straight once again…
GTL = “The Anarchist”
Barry O-Bomber = “The Antichrist”
Exact OPPOSITES according to SOME

I’m wondering what the ratio is of righties that are so stupid they actually believe that’s what Obama was saying to those who are so morally bankrupt they’ll repeat their party’s viscious lies ad nauseum. It was obviously a stupid and untimely thing to say, that’s all.

I know, FandB — I believe you came here because El-Rushbo called me a “suicide blogger” due to my anti-Patriot Act stance, correct? Anyhoo — my thanks to El-Rushbo to this day for sending my favorite Dittheads this-a-way

Obama’s remark “Lipstick on a Pig”, gaff or calculated?
Only if you believe Barrack Obama is a gifted orator who knows how to play to an audience, would you be offended by a remark that seemingly jabs Sarah Palin?
You would also have to know the street use of this term, analogous to putting a paper bag over a woman’s head before sexual intercourse.
9:24 am on September 11th, 2008 23
girardia – probably about the same as the ratio of lefties who would vote for a Presidential candidate just because he talks nice and tells them what they want to hear, regardless of the fact that he hangs out with criminals, terrorists, and racists, and doesn’t have a clue as to what it takes to run the strongest most prosperous nation on earth.
GTL – could be, I don’t even remember what he was talking about at the time.
As Alabama Moderate pointed out above, the use of the phrase is not uncommon in Washington. And as Vic indicated, it relates to the idea of dressing up something that is unpleasant to make it more pleasing. The problem here is that Obama used it in a thinly veiled personal attack on Palin – that is, making her the butt of his “joke.” Obama is clearly a gifted orator and he knew exactly what he was saying when he said it.

F+B- What do you think of the jackass at 1600 Pennysylvania right now. Most Americans, stupid and uninformed as many of them are, would agree that he’s the most clueless man to have the job in six or seven generations, if not ever. He doesn’t just associate with criminals; they make up his entire cabinet and sphere of influence. He’s just a drunken, babbling puppet of the war profiteers that make all his decisions. And talk about terrorists. I’m not saying these guys were definitely in on 911, although I beleive they were, but it’s unpatriotic and ridiculous to dismiss this possibility. In the mean time, they have certainly exploited this horrible day in every disgusting way possible. The bullsh!t war they mired us in is an ongoing act of terror against the poor Iraqui’s, who were infinitely better off before we fu<ked up their country for oil. Now McSame wants to continue these policies. He should still be in jail for his deep involvement in the S$L scandals more than twenty years ago. It’s absolutely stunning that Obama isn’t twenty or thirty points ahed. Just goes to show how truly brain-dead and brain-washed a good portion of American’s are. Many actually believe the myth of the liberal media that the ultra right wing, pro war, corporate media machine spews every day. Fox regurgitates the White House talking points word for word, then the message is repeated through the echo chamber of other corporate media outlets. Then, when tiny MSNBC actually dares to let one or two liberals talk, the rest of the right wing media goes into a frenzy about so called credibility, and forces Olberman, who is a truly great and patriotic American, out of the spotlight. This country is in the worst shape it’s ever been and it’s time for change (that we can believe in), not the same old lies from the same old filthy dirt-bags, and an attractive new one.
