My, my, MY; what a tangled web they weave, eh?
First up, we have “Campaign” Karl Rove; the so-called “electoral magician” of the GOP; a man of questionable moral and legal character; and that’s an attempt on my behalf to paint him in the most positive light possible considering the mountains of evidence against him to date, combined with the fact he is still TECHNICALLY considered to be “innocent until proven guilty”. The Hill is reporting that Senator Patrick Leahy has issued a subpoena for the man worm…
Leahy issues subpoena for Rove
By Klaus Marre
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) Thursday issued a subpoena for top White House adviser Karl Rove to compel him to testify about the firing of several U.S. attorneys.
“The evidence shows that senior White House political operatives were focused on the political impact of federal prosecutions and whether federal prosecutors were doing enough to bring partisan voter fraud and corruption cases,” Leahy said. “It is obvious that the reasons given for the firings of these prosecutors were contrived as part of a cover-up and that the stonewalling by the White House is part and parcel of that same effort.” …”
(Snip!)
“… Leahy gives the White House official a week to appear before the panel and testify under oath. …”
I’m all for it. And, I suggest Mr. Rove finds a way to embrace and convey the TRUTH for once in his life when he sits on his fat, pasty, white BUTT before the Senate, lest he prefers to risk the pending fate of his “good ole’ boy” buddy, (soon to be former?) Attorney General Alberto Gonzales:
Senators Call For Appointment Of Special Counsel To Investigate Gonzales For Perjury
“… At a news conference this afternoon, four members of the Senate Judiciary Committee called for the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Alberto Gonzales on perjury charges. …” – Think Progress
And, just how did ole’ Alberto purge himself? Good question; I wrote about that very subject just a couple of days ago — find it here:
BUSTED: Alberto Gonzales Caught Either Blatantly Lying Or Confirming Existence Of Additional Warrantless Wiretapping Program(s?)
Whichever one of the above it may turn out to be in the end, I believe they both qualify as criminal offenses (i.e., lying to Congress while under oath, or warrantless wiretapping), so, MY next big question is, when will Alberto Gonzales be hauled off to prison?
We already know he’s guilty of the latter offense, so if he is confirming the existence of another program, that’s two or more counts on his own admission. If he’s guilty of the former, he should be surrounded by the same rumblings Barry Bonds is hearing for his offense of lying before Congress about his steroid usage…
That’s right, folks; these people feel they are “rock stars”; and rock stars tend to act as if they are above the law. IF, and it’s not a BIG “if”, but it IS an “if”; these two bozos just happen to be innocent, then so BE IT. On the other hand, IF, and that’s a HUGE “IF”; they are to be found guilty as [most likely to be] charged, they need to go meet their new cellmate, “Bubba”, and do their time. And, no “cat fighting” over “Bubba’s” affections is allowed either, boys…
Do not forget the fact that NOBODY; not even a famous politician and close “buddy” of the President, is ABOVE THE LAW. Any of us would have already been arrested; these guys still remain free and at large. And THINK about that one for a moment. Is that fair? Is it even legal?
I don’t THINK so, folks…
