Washington Post: Bush Administration Resorts To Scare Tactics In An Attempt To Drum Up More Votes For Republican Candidates

Well, that’s not EXACTLY the way The WaPo puts it; they put it to us more like THIS (samo-samo, though… if you know what I mean?):

Al-Qaeda’s Gains Keep U.S. at Risk, Report Says

Safe Haven in Pakistan Is Seen as Challenging Counterterrorism Efforts

By Karen DeYoung and Walter Pincus

CLICK TO ENLARGE - President Bush is scared, VERY scared of a Queen Hillary in the Oval Office, so scared in fact, he is willing to use scare tactics on the rest of us...Al-Qaeda has reestablished its central organization, training infrastructure and lines of global communication over the past two years, putting the United States in a “heightened threat environment” despite expanded worldwide counterterrorism efforts, according to a new intelligence estimate.

Intelligence officials attributed the al-Qaeda gains primarily to its establishment of a safe haven in ungoverned areas of northwestern Pakistan. Its affiliation with the Sunni insurgent group al-Qaeda in Iraq, the report said, has helped it to “energize” extremists elsewhere and has aided Osama bin Laden’s recruitment and funding.

The estimate concluded that “the U.S. Homeland will face a persistent and evolving terrorist threat over the next three years.” Al-Qaeda, it said, “is and will remain” the most serious element of that threat. …”

Read again: “the next three years“. Interesting, the fact that “the next three yearsjust happen to span a MAJOR Presidential election, isn’t it? Interesting ALSO, the fact that the NIE just HAPPENS to answer directly to the whims of President Bush, isn’t it? Oh, didn’t you know this? Yessiree-Bob

From WikiPedia:

Director of National Intelligence

The Director of National Intelligence (DNI) is the United States government official subject to the authority, direction and control of the President who is responsible under the Intelligence Reform and Terrorist Prevention Act of 2004 for:

  • Serving as the principal adviser to the President, the National Security Council, and the Homeland Security Council for intelligence matters related to the national security;
  • Serving as the head of the sixteen-member Intelligence Community; and
  • Overseeing and directing the National Intelligence Program.
  • Well, guess what? I share President KING Bush’s Administration’s disdain for, and fear of an all Democratic Congress led by a President QUEEN Hillary Rodham Clinton; BUT — let us also not forget where this group’s so-called “intelligence” has gotten us thus far, under THE KING: tens of THOUSANDS of broken bodies, homes and households, spanning at least two or three continents to date. This is clearly yet, another boring scare tactic being levied upon us by a clearly broken and battered, quite unpopular Republican Party, led by its even MORE unpopular President…

    Sorry — I am just not scared this time, guys and gals. Not at ALL. The only “homeland threat” worrying me at this moment is the “homeland threat” we have occupying 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
