Bayou La Batre, Alabama In An Uproar Over BP Funds Dispersement… Forrest Gump, Lieutenant Dan And Other Residents FURIOUS

Forrest Gump Shrimp Company Lieutenant Dan and other Bayou Lebatre Alabama Gulf of Mexico Coast residents are being screwed by mayor and BP over Vessels of Opportunity programBP’s “Vessels Of Opportunity Program” Dollars Rumored To Be Disproportionately Going To “The Bayou’s” Mayor’s Family Members And Recreational Fishermen…

Oh gosh, oh gee — whoda thunk a POLITICIAN would take $8.5m (USD) and [allegedly, and literally] “hook a brutha up”? I know, I know… it’s shocking… just SHOCKING, I tell you, but this is exactly what residents of The Bayou are telling the Associated Press (Al.Com) and anybody else who’ll listen.

Apparently, the rumors involving the mayor, whether true or not, were enough to spur British Petroleum to take over the handling of the $8.5m, or however much of it is now left to disperse. The major problem with that is the fact they are requiring the COMMERCIAL fishermen to wizz into a cup for drug testing in order for them to at least pay their basic bills by collecting $1600.00 per day with their boats in the “Vessels of Opportuntity” program farce by helping clean up the Deep Horizon disaster’s oil. Problem? Yeah. ANYBODY who’s lived near a community relying upon fishing and shrimping boats knows full well a bunch of those low-level deckhands like to party and do their drugs. They’re going to “wizz HOT”, many of them. This means they’re a financial burden upon the government when they’d much rather trade hard work for their pot. Work hard, play hard is the name of the game in that business.

So, other than [allegedly] the mayor’s family, who gets the rest of those “VoO” BP bucks? Of course, the wealthy G.O.P.-voting bloc who owns large boats — the doctors, lawyers and other rich folks who don’t actually NEED the money as badly and who use those boats to go out and lie about the proverbial “one that got away” on a casual fishing weekend out on the Gulf. That leaves the “Bubba Gump” staff out on the side of the road, panhandling for dollars.

PATHETIC and just plain WRONG.

The Gulf Oil spill is like a box of chocolates…you never know what youre going to get!  Classic photo shop GTL, you should be on Comedy Central or the Cartoon Network!  I guess its kinda like the Kennedy’s of the South.  One thing you forget, the Bubba Gumps usually work for those “rich guys that dont need the money”…LOL

Yeah, as usual, it’s all the rich people in the GOP who are responsible for everyone’s problems.  Heaven forbid any of the professional fisher pros whould take it upon themselves to support their own children and families with whatever means they can find or figure out.  Hell, BP and the government messed up their income-earning potential and by God they’re gonna have to take over supporting me for a while.  It is fully their right to get high and drink all day and the government and BP should pay them to do it.

Now, if one of these people were to take it upon himself to put support of his family first, and whining about the government second, or third, or … THEN some progress would be made.  Of course, if that happened, I’m sure that person would be thoroughly reprimanded by his peers for setting such an example.  And, I’m sure that person would not be a democrat.

Dang those rich people in the GOP . . . say, did any of you ever get a job from a poor person ?

    Woman shoots intruders; 1 dead

The victim of a home invasion fought off two attackers early Thursday by shooting both in the head, killing one, police said.

One of the intruders, Darreon Carter, 18, died in a Tulsa hospital. The other, Daniel Holman, 23, is in critical condition, police said.

The incident was Tulsa’s second deadly home intrusion in as many days.

Capt. Travis Yates said the woman was walking through a dark parking lot about 3:50 a.m. at the Brighton Park apartments in the 4800 block of South Darlington Avenue after a trip to a fast-food restaurant. As she opened her apartment’s door, the men demanded money and forced their way inside.

The woman initially cooperated, but when one intruder told her to undress, she pulled a snub-nosed revolver from her purse and shot him, police said.

A struggle for the gun broke out, and her boyfriend tried to help, police said.

Although she took blows to her head, the woman was able to shoot the other intruder. She fired five shots in all, Yates said.

“It seemed to be a courageous act, protecting their home and their life,” he said. “They were shaken up, but it was sort of impressive — they weren’t hysterical.”

Brighton Park typically doesn’t see much criminal activity. Yates said there were no immediate signs that the woman knew the attackers.

“We believe that this was totally an opportunity crime,” he said. “Somebody saw a woman walking up to an apartment, and they decided to commit a crime, and here we are.”

The woman held the wounded intruders at gunpoint until help arrived. Her boyfriend collected two screwdrivers that the men had used as weapons, police said.

Officers found Carter and Holman in the apartment’s entryway. Carter was unresponsive; Holman was conscious, but his condition was deteriorating quickly, Yates said.

Medics took both men to St. Francis Hospital, where Carter died. Holman remains in critical condition with bullet wounds to his head and stomach, police said.

Police took the tenants to headquarters for questioning, but Yates said he didn’t expect them to be arrested.

The woman’s name was not immediately available, and there was no answer at the apartment later Thursday.

Police said two other recent home-invasion robberies also seem to have been crimes of opportunity.

Seeing open doors, robbers entered the home of Stephen Rodolf, near 26th Street and Peoria Avenue, in June and the home of Rabon Martin, in the 1400 block of South Carson Avenue, on July 6, police said. People in each home were assaulted by the armed robbers.

Three suspects have been charged in the Rodolf robbery and assault, and one of them is also charged in the Martin robbery. One of the three suspects, Ryan K. Smith, has not yet been arrested.

Smith, 21, is described as black, 6 feet 3 inches tall and 170 pounds.

Thursday’s shootings happened about a day after another home invasion that left a resident dead.

Police said masked intruders ransacked a home in the 600 block of East 27th Place North before fatally shooting Corey Lajuan Johnson, 30.

The assailants, who are at large, made gang-related remarks during the ordeal and took property from the home.

They were black, wore hooded jackets and had cloths covering their faces, police reported.

Anyone with information about Ryan Smith or any of these home-invasion robberies and assaults is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 596-COPS. Tips can also be sent to the Police Department online or via text message at tulsaworld.com/crimestoppers.

The Crime Commission offers rewards for information that leads to arrests, and tipsters can remain anonymous.

Whoa!  Wait!  That has to be wrong.  The real story must be either:

Rabid gun owner attacks two innocent men for no reason, killing one.

    or

Victims of society who were good boys turning their lives around, take gun from honest citizen, use it to kill her and her boyfriend.

Just ask Diane “I’m important enough that I need a gun” Feinstein or Babs “I’m too important to be called ma’am” Boxer, or any of the others pushing to ban guns. Those are the only possible ways it can play out. We all know from their pontifications that only a select political elite is able to safely carry firearms and not give in to the dark powers they project.

It is very hard to reconcile the fervent anti-big government stance many Republicans take with the new position on demanding Federal help for the oil-spill (and an erstwhile, back-door, bailout of Big Oil by capping their liability).  I have blogged about that incongruity many times.  http://suspiciouspackaging.blogspot.com/2010/05/i-am-against-big-government-except-when.html

Ron Paul talks about how he objects to Government and various governmental programs – then you hear his father-in-law was a beneficiary of the very programs he objected to.

The hypocraisy at all levels of government is appaling.
