A Bipartisan Solution To Our Illegal Alien Problem? Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY) And Lindsey Graham (R-SC) Draft Immigration Proposal And Present It To President Obama

Chuck Charles Schumer and Lindsey Graham introduce bipartisan immigration reform bill to America and President Barack ObamaSophisticated High-Tech Social Security Cards, Guest Worker Program, “Tough but fair” Amnesty Path For Illegal Imigrants Aliens, Requirement To Speak Decipherable English, Stronger Border Enforcement And Increased Enforcement Authority For Local Police Amongst Bipartisan Senators’ Proposal…

Senators “Chuckie” and Lindsey are ready to work directly with President Barack Hussein Obama to solve our tiny little “illegal alien” problem, which includes of course, all of the above and a few more items according to their co-written “op ed” piece published by The Washington Post today. I believe this gives us a little “whiff” of what’s going to be clogging up all of our airwaves once this ObamaCare package (Think Progress) has been completed, which I expect to be no sooner than shortly after the 2010 mid-term elections, of course.

While these gentlemen do (surprisingly) bring up a few great ideas, and while it is way past time to do something about all of these illegal aliens we’ve got running around taking our jobs, I do have a few problems of with at least a few of their ideas…

Some “snips” and some commentary to follow:

… Our plan has four pillars: requiring biometric Social Security cards to ensure that illegal workers cannot get jobs; fulfilling and strengthening our commitments on border security and interior enforcement; creating a process for admitting temporary workers; and implementing a tough but fair path to legalization for those already here. …

Okay, no big deal with the enhanced Social Security cards here, as LONG as they mean it when they say no private information other than legal Citizen or immigration status is contained. Get a new job, pull the card out of your sock drawer, let the new employer swipe it, then put it back in your sock drawer until you need it again. No problemma with that one.

“Temporary workers”? Why? Don’t we already have legalized temporary workers here in the United States? Yes, we do — they’re called worker visas (Google). This provision is either redundant or, more likely, a “code phrase” for a snake in the woodpile.

A “tough but fair path” for those already here? To me, “tough but fair” means they speak clear English, have (aside from the felony they committed by sneaking into the U.S. through the “back door”) clean records, and have demonstrated they, other than being admitted felons (a requirement under the Schumer/Graham proposal), have otherwise demonstrated good “citizenry” in their respective communities. Of course, I would also INSIST they are convicted for their felonies and given suspended prison sentences, meaning they will not be able to legally possess firearms or vote in most states. Deport the rest of the bums, of course.

More:

… Prospective employers would be responsible for swiping the cards through a machine to confirm a person’s identity and immigration status. Employers who refused to swipe the card or who otherwise knowingly hired unauthorized workers would face stiff fines and, for repeat offenses, prison sentences. …

HUGE problem with this one — an OBVIOUS “loophole” needing some serious plugging up. This simply encourages illegal aliens and employers to continue doing what a huge percentage of them have been doing for decades. It’s called “under the table pay” and it’s called the “I’ll hire you as an independent contractor (wink-wink!) and I’ll 1099 you at tax time at the address you provide and hey — welcome aboard!” method of doing “bidness”. Either Senators “Chuckie” and Lindsey know this full-well and are collaborating to blow some more “smoke and mirrors”, “feel good” crappola into our sphincters or it’s simply a tiny “oversight” on their part. Taxes are NEVER collected from illegal aliens being paid under the table or from “straw” independent contractors who’ve committed the felony of breaching our sovereignty and they never WILL be unless this issue is addressed and a LEGAL solution is included.

Last but not least:

… Our blueprint also creates a rational system for admitting lower-skilled workers. Our current system prohibits lower-skilled immigrants from coming here to earn money and then returning home. …

BZZZT. Our current system prohibits ALL of these people from coming here in the first place. It doesn’t work — they still come here and they still take our money back home and live high on their horses while our own low-skilled workers live off of our welfare system. I need a bit of clarification on how these guys intend to fix this problem which has existed in our country for decades and I absolutely DO wish to see a limit on how many U.S. DollarsAmeros” can go accompany any “guest worker” across the border and I DO wish to see a hefty tax levied on any of their money sitting in U.S. banks, being spent in Mexico or whichever country they call home…

Yeah, I guess I’m just a jerk, eh?

Okay, no big deal with the enhanced Social Security cards here, as LONG as they mean it when they say no private information other than legal Citizen or immigration status is contained.

Uh…yeah…..and when has the State EVER not expanded something like this? Name, Date of Birth, citizenship status. That I could live with.

But, unless a provision is put in along the lines of “Anyone attempting to add more information to this will be shot by the Sgt. At Arms of the House or Senate” you know that they will gradually add things to it – voter registration, tax status, income, address, &tc. & tc, &tc.

I still have the SS card issued to me in 1973 (before the time when they were issued at birth) and it gets odd looks. Flat printing and a bit faded. looks like the number is typed on it.

The problem I have with any immigration bill is that I fully believe the Democrats have one thing and one thing only in mind.

They want to run the GOP out of the country and they want to finish the socialization of America that only the GOP stands in the way of. Hence legalizing 12-15 million more Democrats and offering them FREE.

    HEALTH CARE.
    FOOD STAMPS
    HOUSING
    DAY CARE
    COLLEGE EDUCATION
    TRANSITIONAL WORK SERVICES
    FREE EDUCATION

See I dont have a problem with Americans having these services available but what incentive do the Hispanics have for NOT flooding our borders and procuring FREEBIES that the DEMOCRATS just cant seem to give away fast enough??

    Answer……..NONE.

    Border security? HAH.

Enhanced Social Security Cards???…….triple hah….they can counterfit money by the millions trust me it will take no time at all to be able to come up with a NEW way to bypass this system.

In the meantime the Illegals flood to America because of the promises that the progressives give them…….

    ITS FREE!!!!!!……..WEEEEEEEEE!!!!

COME TO AMERICA and remember to vote for Any and ALL Democrats………or else them Freakin Republicans will make you WORK.

    @ Doomed

You mention Hispanics specifically. Are you okay with immigration for non-hispanics? What about native Spanish speaking whites from Mexico (there are alot of them, in case you didn’t know), are they allowed access to the US?

Also, I would point out that the majority of welfare recipients in this country are White.

I don’t even understand why conservatives have issue with immigration at all. Doesn’t laisse-faire capitalism not dictate that individuals be allow to seek work anywhere they like without restriction and that the person willing to do the job for the least money deserves the job over someone else? According to conservative thinking, all these white people that won’t wash dishes for two dollars an hour don’t deserve to have jobs.

      @Thomas,

First, I see you did the usual left wing, social engineer garbage of equating being against ILLEGAL immigration as being against LEGAL immigration, trying to say that there is no difference at all. There is a bit of a difference between the two.

Second, in case you haven’t noticed, ‘hispanics’ make up the vast majority of the ILLEGALS here, so it is not unusual to to generalize. Just like I’m pretty sure that to you all Christians are exactly like the Hillboro Baptist group, and anyone who doesn’t support affirmative action must be in the KKK.

      @Thomas,

Thats okay Joe. The coming immigration battle has already set the stage that

      ANYONE……….

      Anybody………

Any person that opposes ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are HOMOPHOBES……REDNECKS……..KKK……Liars, cheats and thiefs.

Its the Alinsky way. The rumbling is already starting as the Alinsky left led by OBAMA will stir up the GREATEST CRISIS facing AMERICA today and it has to be solved and SOLVED NOW!!!!

Dont question us!!!………..sign on the dotted line!!!

Thomas puts forth the USUAL talking points and as you point out JOE…….they conflate LEGAL with ILLEGAL.

I have ZERO problem with any and all LEGAL immigrants coming to America legally. Hispanic, Muslim or Hindu.
