Bush Obama drinkers drinking physical examination smoking moderationPresident Obama In Good Health — Fit For Duty Says Doc After Annual Physical Exam…

Hey, it’s about time — I’ve written numerous columns about how one of the largest problems facing our Democratic Republic Oligarchy today is our tendency as voting Citizens Sheeple to continually elect rich, snobbish “elitists” to represent we “regular folk” in Washington, D.C. While there are, admittedly, plenty of folks out there who are quick to point to President Barack Hussein Obama and claim he is one of these types, it’s far from the truth since the man isn’t nearly as wealthy as most members of the Senate and many members of Congress, which means he fits the same financial profile as many of the rest of us. For cryin’ out loud, he even drinks and smokes like so many of us, which makes me wonder aloud how anybody can possibly feel comfortable labelling the president as “just another snobbish elitist liberal”. Really?

From The Guardian (UK):

… Barack Obama is still struggling to kick smoking, according to his first medical examination since becoming president. …”

(Snip!)

“… The doctors also recommended “moderation of alcohol intake”.

Well… heck… that’s sounds like what MY OWN doctors tell me everytime I’m around one of them. Sound familiar to you?

Of course, the Drudge Report, like The Guardian, is choosing to intentionally (?) leaving out a fairly IMPORTANT part of the “moderation of alcohol intake” quote — that little part that comes right before it (H/T goes to Ann Althouse — “Continue….” In other words, “Continue moderation of alcohol intake” was the exact suggestion by the Obama Doc, not the “Slow down the drinking to moderate levelsDrudge, The Guardian and a handful of opportunistic right wing bloggers are trying to IMPLY. On the other hand, “kudos” to the other handful of right wing bloggers who’ve joined Althouse in being at least as fair about this as one would expect considering the source, including Hot Air‘s AllahPundit for one…

So there we go — the truth is out there but so is the larger point — the one I made in the link above. Was I correct in pointing out the one thing we could do as Citizens to take our government back from the wealthy elitists — the real ones as opposed to our president — would be to elect people more like ourselves? After all, again; President B.H. Obama smokes, drinks and has a financial porfolio I’m sure, which falls well below some of our regular readers and participators here at The GTL™. Obviously, the jury’s still out on that one for at least we CENTRIST Liberals (with the large “L” on purpose, of course) — “The Regular Guy Just Like The Rest Of Us” we’ve elected to the White House has only been at the helm for less than a quarter of his appointment…

Shouldn’t we give him a bit of a break and see what happens by the time Election 2012 rolls around before we jump to conclusions?

      Thread high jack:

      This from http://www.scotusblog.com/

Tomorrow the Court will hear arguments in McDonald v. City of Chicago, the challenge to the City of Chicago’s handgun ban. Harriet Robbins Ost of UPI discusses the arguments in the case, including the ramifications of a decision that relies on either the Privileges or Immunities Clause or the Due Process Clause. McClatchy Newspapers. SCOTUSblog, the L.A. Times, the Washington Post, and the San Jose Mercury News all have coverage of the case.

So, will the fear-mongering DEMOCRATS and other left wing statists get their way and decimate the Bill of Rights by eliminating the Second Amendment? Or will the center hold and protect our civil rights against the assaults by Chicago Democratic Machine politicians?

      GTL,

If I had to meet with Pelosi and Reed on a regular basis, I would need to drink heavily also :)

I personally as a rightie express my desire to see the President have good health and to prosper. I would actually not be opposed to seeing him as president for 8 years given the GOP being in charge of the House and Senate to keep his far left idiocy in check. I think he has the ability to be another Bill Clinton when he is mugged with reality.

And yet……we want another federal entitlement program that will further add burdens to the states.

The progressive way of doing business is to create a crisis….then offer to solve the crisis. This national healthcare debacle continues to focus on how the US government is going to PAY for their share…….WHILE ignoring or trying to hide……HIDE….the amount the states are going to have to absorb.

CREATE A CRISIS……then offer to solve the crisis…….The FEDS want to bankrupt the states so they can step in with Universal health care whose staggering costs will permanently endenture Americans for the rest of their lives to paying exorbitant taxes just to have health care.

      Progressives/Neocons??

You might have a reader or two that is wealthier than Obama, but I doubt there is more than that.

Obama had ten years in the Senate to accumulate wealth. And as a politician we can’t just look at what he has personally acquired, but also what has been handed out to his friend’s and family as a direct consequence of his influence.

I’d be really surprised if his net worth wasn’t at least eight figures.

On the point about waiting until 2012 to judge him, his political record stretches for thirteen years. For most of his time as a US Senator he roundly renounced Bush from the podium, then voted to give Bush everything he wanted. He was a very helpful manservant to the Bush administration.

As President, he appears to be the same man he was as a US Senator. A man that pretends to be our friend in public, then betrays us to the powers that be.

When we get to 2012, he’ll still be the same man.

Now that we really had a choice in the election. The presidential race is nothing but an election of hand puppets to begin with. It’s really nothing but a beauty pageant. There is no real substance decided by our votes. Whether we vote Republican or Democrat, we get a hand puppet worn by the same interests. They simply have different costumes and pretend to care about different issues.

@Weaseldog, 10 years in the Senate? Where you gettin your info from man, MSNBC? Obama was elected to the Illinos Sentate in 2005…You must have gone to one of dem gubment schools Weaseldog…

    • Weaseldog

Sorry CLD, I meant to edit that. I need proofread better.

He was a state senator before becoming a US senator. I was adding the two.

    • Weaseldog

And not adding them very well :)

    • Weaseldog

CLD said, “Obama was elected to the Illinos Sentate in 2005″

You mean the US Senate don’t you?

He served in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004.

“Keep working at controlling your drinking problem.”

But how about the wealthy elitists backing him? All the Chicago Democratic Machine capons. Not to mention Soros. How do we take it back from those wealthy elitists?

    • Weaseldog

Joe Lovell said, “Keep working at controlling your drinking problem.”

How is his drinking problem defined? A beer or glass of wine, once a week or once a day? A fifth of Irish Whiskey before bedtime each night?

Does he drink too much or too little?

My doctor gives me similar advice. I’m going to a session tonight, and I’ll probably drink two beers over a three hour period. Would that be a problem because I drink too little, or too much?

      • Joe Lovell

@Weaseldog, Just giving a different take on it than what Guns put out.

        • Weaseldog

          @Joe Lovell,

NP Joe. I just have no basis for making a decisive comment one way or another. It seems that if he had a reputation for getting drunk in public, we would’ve heard about it by now.

I have lots of reasons to despise him for his deeds that are a matter of public record. I don’t know enough about him to characterize his drinking as a ‘problem’.

I’ll leave such attacks of zero substance to the like of Dennis Miller who’d made a career out of making politically comic hay out the shapes of people’s noses, or their facial wrinkles.

The problem I think for many of his Republican critics is that he is a big business advocate. He’s faithfully continued all of the Bush/Cheney policies that defined their tenure.

For instance, Bush fought hard for and championed TARP and Obama voted for it, and continued the banker bailouts. The Republican bragged that the banker bailouts saved the world economy, then when criticized about it, pretend it’s all Obama’s fault.

If we got the crooks out of Washington, there would only be a handful of Republicans and Democrats left in the city.

          • Joe Lovell

            @Weaseldog,

It seems that if he had a reputation for getting drunk in public, we would’ve heard about it by now.

Would we? How much do we know about his past? Let’s see – he was born in HI. He got some schooling in Indonesia. He went to Harvard. He was a community organizer. He worked for ACORN. He is ashamed of the poor white crackers who raised him when his dad bugged out. That’s pretty much it. None of his papers, his writings, his record is there for us, is it? And anyone who questions anything about his is a RAAAAcist or a ‘birther’ or some other claptrap. He kind of sprang ex nihilo onto the political scene, a man without a past.

That’s the advice that my doctor would certainly give me, if I or millions of other Americans could go to the doctor at all. Now that the Nutters have stymied much needed healthcare reform I can count on having to sell off my possessions and take a second job in addition to the sixty hours I already work each week if I need to be treated for so much as a sniffle.

    • Weaseldog

Joe Lovell, before becoming Governor of Texas, George Bush made the scandal sheets now and then for heavy use of cocaine, staying drunk all of the time, getting into fights, and trashing apartments and cars like a forty year old frat boy.

Even his daddy couldn’t keep his name out of the news.

If Obama had been doing such things as a State Senator, I think we’d know.

If he’s been getting quietly wasted in the privacy of his own home, then not so much.

      • Joe Lovell

@Weaseldog, Again, we don’t really know do we? His past is a closed book. People are discouraged from digging into it. Of course, “In the book, Obama acknowledges that he used cocaine as a high school student but rejected heroin. “Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though,” he says.” So, a self confessed drunk, pot head, and coke fiend, but talk about that gets swept under the rug, and if you dare to bring it up, well, you must be racist. He gets a free pass on it for some reason.

    • Weaseldog

Thomas, don’t you know that doctors are for socialists? You’re not a socialist are you?

    • James Reed

I am no political junkie but can anyone explain to me why in this age of the media crucifying our Presidents and pointing out every flaw and miss step and never missing a moment did I never see a photo of Mr. Obama smoking? It may be something that gives him an “everyman” sort of quality. But it also makes people seem weak, dirty and flawed. Not to mention all the great health care jokes that could come out of this.
