“Bottoms Up!”

“My advice is to start drinking heavily. You should listen to him, he’s pre-med!” – Animal House, 1978 – Bluto & Otter

You know, as yet another birthday has come and gone (Jan. 30 for all you belated buddies), I can’t help but remember the great lines from my younger years. Bluto and Otter may have just been characters in a classic movie (YouTube), but lately it seems that they made more sense than anyone in this current day and age.

This is particularly true for me when it comes to politics, and this recent attempt to “fundamentally transform America” (YouTube) I’m not so sure that the “educated” masses are paying attention, but that “hope and change” ya’ll voted for with so much disdain for Mr. Bush, has much of the country going “bottoms up”. That’s about the only thing that seems to numb the senses from the senselessness, as America edges closer and closer to a literal banana republic. But hey, like the college kids here at good ole U.S.A. (University of South Alabama) proclaim, “at least the rest of the world likes us now”. How comforting, dictators like Hugo Chavez think Obama is “cool” (The Insider), well God bless us all and let’s have another cerveza!

My most recent excuse to pop open another Coors Original comes from a “really good friend of mine” Glenn Beck (at least I wish he was, Lenny)…

“This isn’t education. This isn’t about the American process. This isn’t about civics. This is about Barack Obama and idol worship.” – Glenn Beck

Ok, so what is Glenn ranting about this time (sip, sip, swig, gulp)? No, it’s not Saul Alinsky or crying on the set, it’s about the “O.F.A.” and our children. You know, the O.F.A.? Come on folks, where have you been, watching American Idol or waiting for the “Who Dat” Bowl (A GTL™ YouTube Original)?

“Organizing for America” (OFA) is a “grass roots” program (BarackObama.Com) sponsored by the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Imagine that, like Acorn for bored housewives or those “intellectuals” with too much time on their hands. Oh, but if that’s not enough to drive you to drink, they are recruiting children, and offering “internships”. How sweet, instead of “midnight basketball” (am I showing my age again?) from the golden age of Clinton, we now have “OFA training” for all those future little Marxists. And you thought only those “rich fat cat” Republicans and “tea baggers” were fascists’, well not so fast my friends…

“Buckle up, gang. This one’s going to be bumpy. From BarackObama.com. This isn’t some crazy website. This isn’t some disassociated website. BarackObama.Com. Organizing for America. Now we’re organizing your children.” – Glenn Beck

Quoting one of the “regional OFA field directors”…

“The mission of OFA is to organize the grass roots, build the grass roots, to move forward in a way that promotes the President’s agenda” – OFA (YouTube)

An “Ozombie-like” female further explains that the organization is built from “the bottom up”. Yea, I got a “bottoms up” for ya’ honey, and it has nothing to do with “community organizing”….cheers. — This Sunday Column was penned by the one and only CLD

      @CLD, BOTTOMS UP TO THE SAINTS!!! WHO DAT, WHO MIGHT THAT BE!!!

        @CLD,

        Congrats! I have to admit, I didn’t think the Saints D could get it done against Manning. I figured they would have to win a shoot-out type game. They proved me wrong – they are the real deal.

        How’s the offseason look for them? Any salary cap issues? They have a young team, right? Could it be a Dat-dynasty?

  • F&B

    Ditto – Congrats to all the Saints fans out there.

    I thought the experience on the Colts side would win out, but all it seemed to do is sap the desire, the hunger for that Super Bowl win.

    I didn’t have any skin in the game, so I didn’t really care who won, but it was good seeing the Saints come back from an early deficit and just flat out dominate the second half of the game.

    One thing the election of Scott Brown showed us is that no one man is big enough or powerful enough to bring down this nation – not Barack Obama, not his administration, not anyone.

    The only way organizations like OFA and ACORN can corrupt our youth and turn them into little Marxists is if the rest of us sit back and do nothing. Children learn from their parent(s) primarily. Regardless of what their values are, the seeds for those values were planted by their parent(s). Organizations like ACORN and OFA prey on the innocent ones among us who have not been taught better by their parent(s), or those whose parents who already believe the misguided philosophies that these organizations preach.

    It doesn’t take a village to raise a child, it just takes a parent who cares, a parent who is willing to place the interests of the child ahead of his or her own.

    For me, this is the core of family values and personal responsibility.

    That’s why democrats oppose family values and personal responsibility. They want to be able to tell the children to believe in the current fad, the current cool Kool-Aid flavor of the day, but a strong upbringing based on family values and personal responsibility makes the children immune to their efforts at control. It makes organizations like OFA and ACORN impotent and useless.

    Good column CLD.

    This will be interesting: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100208/ap_on_go_co/us_obit_murtha

    Rep. John Murtha, Iraq war monger, dies at 77

    • Doomed

      @Joe Lovell,

      Murtha voted in 2002 to authorize President George W. Bush to use military force in Iraq, but his growing frustration over the administration’s handling of the war prompted him in November 2005 to call for an immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops.

      What was it you guys were saying a few days ago about changing your minds?

      He took on the role as heavy for the Democrats who used the War to win back the government while VOTING FOR GOING TO WAR.

      I will never forgive the democrats for voting us into a war……then saying………oppssss….we are against the war. Had all the Dems lined up like the GOP has on healthcare then it would be one thing..but to say ya………..do it…then opps BUSH IS HITLER……..is beyond the pale for me.

      • Joe Lovell

        @Doomed,

        Yep, there was close to universal support by the Dems for going back in….and then they almost universally said “Oh! We didn’t mean it!”

  • Doomed

    OFA..is perfectly acceptable in the MSM. Its all A-0kay to have a GRASSROOTS movement.

    However when the GOP does something like that….Tea parties…something that doesnt advocate brainwashing chillin for the express purposes of serving the one and the only………well heaven forbid…….

    Dem Tea Baggers are destroyin da country.

    The Democratic party led by Barak Obama are in freakin sane. They have lost their minds and their insanity is being cheered on by MSM who has jumped in the toilet with them and as they both go round and round they all become more and more confused as to just what it is they are supposed to be doing.

    I wouldnt know but I hear its a dizzy ride down the drain but it is amusing watching the president and the congress and the MSM take it together.
