A Gun Toting Liberal GTL Open Post Thread Another GTL™ Open Post Wednesday: Scott Brown (R MA) To Be Sworn Into The Senate On Thursday? Colin Powell Reverses Opinion On DADT? President Obama Apologizes To Harry Reid (D NE) For Las Vegas Remark? More Sarah Palin Hypocrisy Over Rahm Emanuels Retard Remark? SOUND OFF HERETHE Gun Toting Liberal™ Reaches Out To His Fellow Commentators -Slash- Co-Bloggers And Readers To Furnish Their Opinions On Any Of The Above, Below, Or Anything Else Political One Wishes To O-Pine On…

Yep, it’s been awhile since our last Open Post opportunity, folks — and with all we have happening in the world of politics today, it’s only reasonable to assume the time has come again for our readers to opine on any of the above issues and/or any issues they may find “newsworthy” and worth commentary.

Without hesitation, here we go with yet another edition a GTL™ Open Post. The way it works is I personally hit upon a few items I find interesting today and you, the reader, either opine on the items I’ve chosen or offer your own items in the comments section below. HERE WE GO AGAIN

HOW IS IT “OKAY” FOR SARAH PALIN TO USE THE WORD “RETARD” BUT IT’S NOT “OKAY” FOR PRESIDENT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA’S WHITE HOUSE CHIEF OF STAFF, RAHM EMANUEL TO USE IT?

ANSWER: Because Sarah “The Barracuda” Palin is a transparent hypocrite. Sorry, Tea Partiers — it is what it is — your “Chosen Queen”, as Andrew Sullivan of The Daily Dish reminds us in his piece properly entitled “Palin, Emanuel. Pot, Kettle“, our Teabagging Heroine has used that very same term herself to describe her own Down Syndrome baby during the unsuccessful Palin-McCain campaign. Hold your tongue, Mr. Emanuel and Sarah, please hold your own, too. Many of us are “over” you.

PRESIDENT OBAMA TO SENATE MAJORITY LEADER HARRY REID OF NEVADA: I’M SO SORRY I URGED COLLEGE KIDS TO SAVE THEIR MONEY FOR SCHOOL INSTEAD OF HEADING OFF TO VEGAS ON GAMBLING SPREES…

That’s right — while speaking at a townhall event in New Hampshire, President Barack Hussein Obama urged college students to save their money instead of heading off to Las Vegas to spend it on slot machines and the remark torqued off not only Harry Reid but his Republican Senator counterpart, John Ensign as well. Both demanded apologies from the president but only Harry Reid received one (The Hill) from “The Prez”. Uhmmmm… why? It was great advice, wasn’t it?

MASSACHUSSETS SENATOR-ELECT SCOTT BROWN TO BE SWORN INTO HIS SEAT ON THURSDAY… DOES THIS CREATE A NEW REPUBLICAN “SUPERMAJORITY” IN THE SENATE OR SOMETHING?

I swear to God, you’d THINK so with all of the “hooplah” this announcement (The Hill) is causing. How soon we forget how former (thank GOD!) was able to get damned near ALL of his big spending, big government agenda passed into by his G.O.P. majority in Congress — a majority nowhere NEAR as “major” as President Obama’s Congressional and Senate majorities are today. Yet, liberals are both convinced and willing to allow the former male stripper from “The Boot” to ruin their agenda. What? Get your act together Capitol Hill Democrats and DO something, for cryin’ out loud. By that, I mean something other than CRYIN’ OUT LOUD.

GENERAL COLIN POWELL REVERSES HIS PREVIOUS POSITION ON ELIMINATING MILITARY’S “DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL” POLICY — DOES THIS MAKE HIM A HYPOCRITE?

ANSWER: NO. Senator Juan Sidney McCain, however; IS a hypocrite for changing HIS stance on the president’s and the Pentagon’s wish to put an end to the ridiculous (by today’s standards) “DADT” policy. While it took three short years and an upcoming election for Juan Sidney to completely change his stance on the topic, it took General Powell well over a decade (The NYT’s Caucus blog) to change his stance, not to mention the fact the General is not known as a “flip-flopper”. No, siree — the General is known to be a thoughtful man of great integrity and honor who has little, if ANY interest in a political career. BIG difference there, folks.

Annnnnnd, now it’s YOUR turn. Back to you, my friends.

Sarah Palin: She is dumb. There is no other way to describe it. So long as the Tea Party holds on to her as their “hope and salvation,” the tea party won’t ever become something. I wouldn’t mind seeing the party become something, but with Palin at the helm, excuse me, but hell the F no.

Obama and Las Vegas: Eh…Not something you want to say. Could have been more effective if it was said, “Instead of wasting your money on stupid things, save your money…Blah blah blah.” While the advice is good, even Vegas is hurting in this tough economic time and there is a LOT of job employment there.

Scott Brown: It removes the Supermajority from the Democrats, but doesn’t give the Republicans anything. What it does do, though, is make it mandatory that the two parties work together. I actually touched on it in an article I recently wrote: http://www.wethepeoplepolitics.com/short-term-politics-wont-correct-america/

Powell and Don’t Ask; Don’t Tell: Powell was a General and he recognized that what the military needs at one time isn’t what it needs at other times. Chances are, he was arguing for Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell because he knew it was necessary. Now that it isn’t, why argue for it? McCain: Total flip flop. Powell? Wish he was President!

        @Jacob,

RE: Scott Brown. Jacob, I tend to agree. In fact, it may be better for Obama (and definitely the country) for the GOP to take back congress…No one party (alone) is going to take on our biggest challenge (the deficits – and thus the national debt) unless there is an opportunity to blame the other party for the tough choices that need to be made. Something has got to give, I think.

        • Jacob

          @SJ,

RE: Scott Brown. I think that now that the supermajority has been pimp smacked, what we can hope will come from it is more fiscal responsibility. Because both sides can blame the other, my hope is that they’ll have to do more. When the Democrats had a supermajority, the Republicans could blame them for EVERYTHING. Now, both parties can be equally blamed for the stuff that goes down in Washington.

More seriously about DADT- I think it is worth considering eliminating, but what to replace it with? Nothing? If you consider a soldier is professional, devoted, and patriotic until proven otherwise, why does the military bother with having separate showers for men and women? It isn’t that two persons of the opposite sex would necessarily/automatically lust and/or do inappropriate acts to another soldier, but it would make many, particularly women, miserable having to endure such exposer which can effect moral and job performance. Shared showers might help the military with recruiting more young males but the downside is obvious. Soldier A has enough to deal with in the business of killing and or being killed than to be concerned about Soldier B walking in when he or she is washing or dressing/undressing. Consider a male doctor and a female patient, the female may realize the male may find her attractive but in being professional the doctor shouldn’t do anything in word or in action that demonstrates the slightest sexual interest in the patient. No doubt soldiers know they may be seen naked by homosexual soldiers but if that homosexual stays professional, and says not a peep in word or action, I’d be ok with that, how to impliment that in a workable policy, I don’t know. I think DADT is flawed, I think it could be improved upon, but I think it is better than nothing.

      • F&B

@Mike 300 spartans, OK, Mike, I see your reasoning, and in a perfect world it might work, but our world is not perfect. If ‘that homosexual’ did make a comment after seeing another soldier in the shower, or even further, make an unwelcome advance toward another soldier, the scenario becomes less workable. In the case of a male soldier making an advance toward a female soldier, the female soldier can, and typically will, report the sexual harassment to a superior. In the case of male on male sexual harassment, however, it would likely be handled differently. If a male soldier reported that he had been sexually harassed by another male soldier, the report would likely be met with grins and giggles. It is more likely that the straight male would want to take the matter into his own hands and beat the crap out of the offender. Sometimes, he may get his buddies to help him with the task.

Obviously, this could happen with or without DADT, but the DADT policy makes it less likely.

The deficit spending of Bush and now Obama and indeed forced upon America the idea that crisis is now upon us.

Why is the deficit a crisis…..it is a crisis because the INTEREST on the national debt is 500 billion per year and heading higher. After this year it will be 621 billion per year. After 2011 it will be 719 billion per year based upon projections and those projections along with our very distinguished government show no sign of being able to balance the budget or come anywhere NEAR balancing the budget.

Our federal government is unconstitutional. It has usurped power that is not theirs, does not belong to them and has and was never the intent of the founders of this nation. No where did the Founders invision the fed government as having the power to tell a state to give us money, then IF YOU DONT DO WHAT WE SAY…..we wont give it back to YOU.

      How FFFing stupid is that.

You dont pass seatbelt laws……no federal tax dollars for you to fix your roads…..but you WILL fix your roads.

On and on and on this blackmail goes by the federal Hydra as it devours citizens income in the form of taxes, fees, and chrages for everything…now apparently the air we breathe as well.

Where is the libertarian outrage over this…..I dont give a flying flip whose in charge..the federal government is out of control…….

I saw a Billboard on the highway last night as I was travelling from the University of Wyoming back to Montana……..

      It simply said.

      THE GOVERNMENT GONE WILD.

OUR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS OUT OF CONTROL people….OUT OF FFFING CONTROL.

      • F&B

@CLD, I still don’t understand how the Saints made it to the Superbowl during the antichrist’s administration.

Anyway, why hasn’t the ACLU stepped in yet and demanded that the Saints change their name? Too much of a religious overtone.

Maybe the ‘Mullahs’, or the ‘Heathens’ would be accepted better.

@F&B, Don’t forget the Padres, Cardinals, and Metropolitans. And about a third of the cities and towns in California.

Re; DADT – OK, so we scrap that, and let homosexuals (homo in this case meaning same, not man) of all stripes come out of the lockers and serve openly. That would then open the door for all the housing, medical, etc. for their partners – so would then POOSSLQs also qualify for those same benefits?

What happens when an openly gay service member (no jokes now!) gets passed over for promotion on purely performance grounds? And then whines that the denial of promotion was because of being gay? Now we have even more entitlement mentality, more time, money, and resources wasted on BS. Will there be quotas? There has to be X (or Y) percentage of open gays in each of the (Big) O ranks?

How about straights who may not want to shower with gays, and maybe be subject to being checked out? Do we set up gay barracks? Or, do we just chuck it all, and go to unisex everything? No differentiation at all? (the bright side of that might be to get rid of those butt-ugly hats that get inflicted on the female members of the military). This isn’t just a can of worms that is being opened, but a whole damned firkin (puncheon), or maybe even a tun.

The funniest line this year goes to a single line entry on InstaPundit.

GTL: The source you cited regarding Sarah Palin’s “hypocrisy” is worthless.

      It never happened.

Not only is it 5th or 6th hand information at best, it is ultimately from a source that is worse than unreliable. It is clear that Levi Johnston has decided to tell whatever lies suit his purpose, and this is just another Levi Johnston lie.

If Levi Johnston said that he heard Obama call his daughter ‘retarded’ while campaigning, would you still believe him?
