WHO’S TO BE BLAMED FOR THE TRANSPORTATION SAFETY “SNAFU” INVOLVING THE CROTCH BOMBER’S SMUGGLING OF EXPLOSIVES ONTO AN AIRLINER — THE DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS?
Okay, first off — who CREATED the TSA? That’s right, the last Republican President by the name of “Bush II” in a stunning move for a G.O.P.’er -slash- so-called “conservative” president — the creation of a huge new government agency that would governmentize a previously privatized industry. Without that Republican president, there would BE no frigging TSA, so let us not forget that fact. Fact number two — the TSA is in need of a new chief but who has placed one of those cute little “holds” on the appointment? Answer — Republican Senator Jim DeMint. Third — who has stood in the way with their “nae” votes on the stalled Department of Homeland Security $5.1B dollar funding bill including increased explosive screening devices? Answer — no less than 108 G.O.P. Congresscritters. Despite all of this, it isn’t stopping the Republicans on Capitol Hill from pointing their fingers at the Obama Administration and the Democratic Party (Ben Smith’s Blogs — The Politico) in general. Just amazing, isn’t it?

We already knew the Teabaggers hate the idea of ensuring all American children have access to preventative health care and the massive ObamaCare bill recently passed by the Senate, so no “news” there, right? Republicans say they’ll use this bill should it become law to help them in the 2010 elections but the Teabaggers say “that’s not good enough”. In fact, they’re threatening to defect from the Grand Old Party (Jake Tapper’s Plumline) should it pass at all. Sounds fun and interesting, doesn’t it? Go Teabaggers, GO…

I dont think it is accurate to say that the “teabaggers” dont want children to have “preventative healthcare”. Like when the Schip bill was passed in the middle of the night expanding “healthcare” to millions of “children” up to the age of 26, from families earning up to $80,000. Obscene taxes on tobacco are supposed to pay for this back door expansion of “preventative” care. Hmmm, what happens when people stop smoking, what do they tax next. Watch out for your draft beer GTL…thats when you might finally agree that Obama and his obsession with control over every aspect of our life is “boooshit”…

Gotta love it – “Though he may need a vacation…” Maybe if he, you know, stopped taking world tours every month he wouldn’t be so tired. Looks like Pres. Bush knew that he had to keep himself fresh and sharp when he could, because he never knew when he would have to be up for a long time, or called out of sleep for something unusual. That is something that is taught to military commanders, get the sleep you need when you can, because you never know when you will need to draw on your physical reserves. This guy seems to think he is still cramming for finals or something. Obviously doesn’t know how to prioritize.

Let’s see, every Democrat in the Senate (guess which party controlled the Senate in 2001?) and the House (11 were not present) voted in favor of creating the TSA. Oops!
With all due respect, you forget that it is Congress who passes legislation. The cosponsers of the Senate version, which was the original, was completely bipartisan, including your 2004 Presidential candidate.
That said, it is easy to throw blame at Bush, but, guess what? He is not president now. Obama is. It’s his TSA. I do not blame Obama, though. He can only do so much.

Just as the left kept yapping that Bush knew, and maybe masterminded the 2001 WTC & Pentagon attacks, so it seems that the former jr. sen. from IL knew about the latest:
President Barack Obama said Tuesday that the intelligence community had bits of information that should have been pieced together that would have triggered “red flags” and possibly prevented the Christmas Day attempted terror attack on a Detroit-bound airliner.
“Had this critical information been shared, it could have been compiled with other intelligence, and a fuller, clearer picture of the suspect would have emerged,” Obama said in a brief statement to the media. “The warning signs would have triggered red flags, and the suspect would have never been allowed to board that plane for America.”
And correct me if I missed something, but wasn’t part of that pos USA PATRIOT Act, passed almost unanimously by a Dem Controlled Senate and as House with only a slim GOP majority supposed to have insured that info got shared? We have had a Congress with a very strong Dem majority for going on 3 years now, and a Dem in behind the desk in the Oval office for close to a year…what happened? How have the Dems running our Republic allowed our intelligence community to fall into such disarray?
We need an independent investigator to look into this, examine what has happened in the Congressional leadership and oversight.

@Joe Lovell, I was just listening to a radio call in show featuring Barak Obama during the New Hampshire primaries in which he readily and freely admitted that he traveled to Indonesia all through out his high school and college years.
As for the Homeland security agency I remember Bush not wanting to create a new cabinet level position and expand government. He really tried to oppose this idea but relented in an act of bipartisan support in order to get and keep the Democrats fully on board with the war on terror.

@vegofish, The comments I read for hours last night were shocking and appalling. The hate and vile disregard for the other side is so obvious when something like this happens. So much for “tolerance” as you say VFish. They say in the golf business that playing the game “strips you naked”, your true self comes out on the course. Seems that the true side of liberals comes out when they sense an opponent in trouble….wow. We dont have near a problem with racism as we do with right vs. left, its viscous and hatefull….
