A Gun Toting Liberal GTL Open Post Thread Another GTL™ Open Post Monday: Jumping Joe Lieberman Flip Flops On ObamaCare? Republicans Losing Ground To Dems For 2010? Nancy Pelosi: Times Person Of The Year? SOUND OFF HERETHE Gun Toting Liberal Reaches Out To His Fellow Commentators -Slash- Co-Bloggers And Readers To Furnish Their Opinions On Any Of The Above, Below, Or Anything Else Political One Wishes To O-Pine On…

Here we go again with another “catch-all” open post opportunity for our readers and/or co-bloggers to voice their opinions on anything political. As always, I’ll start this par-tay off with a few items and a few of my own comments then it’s your turn to agree, disagree, add to, subtract from, and/or ignore and offer your own items altogether. That’s enough of an intro — here we go with yet another Open Post Monday here at The Gun Toting Liberal™ blog…

SHAME ON JOE LIEBERMAN — TURNS OUT HE WAS FOR MEDICARE BUY-IN BEFORE HE WAS AGAINST IT

Good ole’ Senator Joe — you never know what he’s going to say or do next, do you? He’s the lone Senator holding up the passage of ObamaCare, the White House is urging Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to negotiate with him (The Politico) since he REFUSES to vote “yea” on the Medicare Buy-In option. Funny thing is, Greg Sargent of The Plum Line has video RIGHT HERE from three months ago of King Joseph touting the benefits of a Medicare Buy-In. Which one is it, Joe? Or do you even know?

GALLUP POLL: DEMOCRATS REGAIN LEAD OVER REPUBLICANS FOR ELECTION 2010

Gallup says the Party of “No!!!” is losing ground to the Democrats because more and more independent, likely voters are holding their noses over the notion of electing more Republicans to office in 2010. Gallup, being the right-leaning organization points out the lead is a “slight” one — 48% for the Democrats to 45% for the G.O.P. Remember, many presidential elections have been decided by lower margins than this one so don’t pop those champaign corks yet boys and girls — regardless of whichever party of the cartel you might find yourself pulling for at this time.

TIMES MAGAZINE FINALIST FOR “PERSON OF THE YEAR”: NANCY PELOSI???

Let’s ask ourselves this question: just WHAT has Nancy Legosi done to earn any sort of a “Person Of The Year” award, not to mention the Times Magazine annual selection? How many snail darters has she saved? How many barrels of oil has she helped reduce our dependence upon annually? As House Speaker, has she even SPOKEN anything even MILDLY interesting yet? I don’t get it but hey — The Hill is reporting she has somehow become a finalist for the award. Say WHAT???

Annnnnnd, now it’s YOUR turn. Back to you, my friends.

Hi GTL, here’s one for the discussion:
PBS (Jim Lehrer Hour) just did a feature on renewable energy that I thought was fascinating. Apparently we could be trading our dependence on foreign oil for dependence on “rare earth” elements. These elements, which rely on NASTY polluting processes to make are used in everything from Prius batteries to Wind Turbine Generators. And who controls 90% (or more) of the market right now? China! Anyway, you can find out more on the internets. Take care.

Guns, how can you deny that Nancy, as the leader of the liberals, shouldn’t be in line for Timss Person of the Year? After all, under her, with help from her minions and demons like Barny and Charlie, and they way they strong armed lending institutions and then refused to see that their plans were a failure, our economy collapsed.

      http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/12/14/whats-going-on-cru-takes-down-briffa-tree-ring-data-and-more/

I guess they need to massage and homogenize it some more to fit the conclusions arrived at before any reasearch was done. Can’t let the commonality see it, can we?

      • F&B

@Joe Lovell, Don’t you love the irony that just weeks after Climategate, the conference on global warming is being met with a record cold snap in Copenhagen.

      • Doomed

        @Joe Lovell,
I posted this on another topic but it bears repeating since I’ve been posting this all over the internet for weeks and its finally sinking in that his data is F***** UP!!

The mathematics behind the Mann Hockey Stick were badly flawed, such that its shape was determined by suspect bristlecone tree ring data. Controversies quickly piled up: Two expert panels involving the U.S. National Academy of Sciences were asked to investigate, the U.S. Congress held a hearing, and the media followed the story around the world.

The expert reports upheld all of our criticisms of the Mann Hockey Stick,

The expert reports upheld all of our criticisms of the Mann Hockey Stick,

both of the mathematics and of its reliance on flawed bristlecone pine data. One of the panels, however, argued that while the Mann Hockey Stick itself was flawed, a series of other studies published since 1998 had similar shapes, thus providing support for the view that the late 20th century is unusually warm. The IPCC also made this argument in its 2007 report.

But the second expert panel, led by statistician Edward Wegman, pointed out that the other studies are not independent.

They are written by the same small circle of authors, only the names are in different orders, and they reuse the same few data climate proxy series over and over.

They are written by the same small circle of authors, only the names are in different orders, and they reuse the same few data climate proxy series over and over.

So once again as you can see. How do you hide the data? WHAT trick do you use to make the facts fit your assumed conclusion?

The spin is fast becoming…the trick is legitimate science. Dont believe it. Legitimate science does not hide facts…It questions them.

        • Doomed

          @Doomed,

Most of the proxy data does not show anything unusual about the 20th century. But two data series have reappeared over and over that do have a hockey stick shape.

One is this flawed bristlecone data that the National Academy of Sciences panel said should NOT be used, so the studies using it can be set aside.

The second was a tree ring curve from the Yamal Peninsula in Siberia, compiled by UK scientist Keith Briffa.

Briffa published a paper in 1995 claiming that the Medieval period actually contained the coldest year of the millennium. But this claim depended on just three tree ring cores from the Polar Urals. Later F.H. Schweingruber produced a much larger sample from the Polar Urals: The medieval era was actually quite warm and the late 20th century was unexceptional. OPPS.

Briffa and Schweingruber never published those data, instead they dropped the Polar Urals altogether from their climate reconstruction papers.

Briffa and Schweingruber never published those data, instead they dropped the Polar Urals altogether from their climate reconstruction papers.

In its place they used a new series that Briffa had calculated from tree ring data from the nearby Yamal Peninsula that had a pronounced Hockey Stick shape: relatively flat for 900 years then sharply rising in the 20th century.

Great!! Here you go. Heres proof that the hockey stick works and proves the global warming advocates are correct.

Sadly…. This Yamal series was a composite of an UNDISCLOSED number of individual tree cores. In order to check the steps involved in producing the composite, it would be necessary to have the individual tree ring measurements themselves.

But Briffa didn’t release his raw data.

But Briffa didn’t release his raw data.

Yet folks this report has powerful credance around the globe with no supporting data to be checked, rechecked and verified by those who want the truth and not an agenda.

          We report. You decide.

@Ashley, No one except people who think independently from the Obama-bots and who see through the left-wing garbage and lies that they proclaim.

Everyone who has never changed their mind on an issue raise your hand. Ah, I thought so, Zero. There is nothing wrong with anyone changing their mind, as long as they end up with the right answer, as did Joe Lieberman.

    • F&B

It doesn’t matter what Joe Lieberman, or the American people want anyway. The democrats in charge – Obama, Pelosi, Reid, etc. have decided that they are going to pass a Socialist health care bill whether the American people want it or not.

The elitist liberal snobs on Capitol Hill will tell the unwashed masses (us, you and me, the American people) what is good for them, they (we) are not capable of making that decision for themselves.

According to Real Clear Politics, the American people currently oppose the health care bills that are on the table by a margin of 53% to 38%. Congress’s job approval rating is below 29%, Obama’s job approval is less than 49% – but they’re going to do this anyway.

They’re going to do it because they don’t give a damn what you think America.

Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and their cronies absolutely do not care what you want. They want to cement a place for themselves in the history books. This is being fed by their egos and not one whiff about doing anything good for this country or her people.

Oh well, America, you elected a bunch of Socialists and Socialism you will get.

By the time we’re able to ‘vote the bums out’ it will be too late.

The damage this thing will do to the economy of this country is extreme. We will ALL pay a very high price.

      • Joe Lovell

@F&B, What is amazing is that when the GOP had a slim majority the Dems were able to play boat anchor and keep pushing the socialist agenda. Now that the Dems have a signifcant majority in both houses of Congress, they can’t manage to do jack. 60 seats in the Senate, and what, 258 in the House? I think they are afraid to pass anything, because when it goes in the crapper, they won’t be able to point to the eeeee-vvvillll Republicans and shreik “It’s THEIR fault!” They don’t have the balls to carry through with their agenda because they know it is a bunch of crap.

It is time for the conservatives to start doing some “community organizing” of their own.

The “Party of No” vs the “Party of Hate”.

The party of Capitalism vs the party of Socialism.

The party of “Teach a man to fish” vs the party of “Give a man a fish”.

The right needs a conservative version of ACORN to combat the Hate and Terrorism coming from the left.
