Send Prayers To The Woods Family

Sadly, the (arguably) best golf player in history is being reported as being in “very serious condition” after he crashed his SUV into a fire hydrant, then a tree in his neighbor’s yard after leaving his driveway around 2:30 AM (ET) according to Fox News and multiple other mainstream (“MSM”) sources…

Although, most Press releases are reporting the FHP says no alcohol was involved, one must wonder WHY they also state “charges are pending”. Are they pending against Tiger himself? Did somebody cut his brakeline or something just as sinister? Was he diverted by a drunk driver (it was late, after all). Just WHOM are these charges pending against, what are they, why are they pending and just how badly is Tiger Woods hurt? Some sources are saying he’s already been released from the hospital while others are stating quite the opposite.

At the time of this writing, I don’t have any of these answers but they’re sure to be updated throughout the day, so I ask our readers to please keep us up-to-date in the commentary section since I’ll be away from my computer for the rest of the day. I also ask we all pray for a speedy recovery from the PGA’s best golfer EVER as we fight the hustle and bustle of Black Friday traffic and enjoy our college football.

Tiger is a historical figure and he has positively affected social growth in our society with not only his accomplishments on the field of play but in the way he has (thus far) conducted himself as a role model.

Kind of confusing. On the one hand ‘sustained serious injuries” and “in serious condition.” On the other hand, form about ten minutes ago:

The Associated Press reports that Woods spokesman Glenn Greenspan said the golfer was treated at the hospital and released in good condition.

Gary Bruhn, mayor of Windermere, Fla., told CNN that was treated for facial lacerations.

And here is the way it is listed on FARK:

Tiger Woods condition upgraded from “serious” to “typical celebrity drunk driving accident”

    This is getting weird:

    quote:

Elin Nordegren, 29, dragged her husband to safety after he hit a fire hydrant outside their £1.5 million Florida mansion and then veered into a tree on a neighbour’s property at 2.25am.

Police arrived minutes later and found Woods, 33, lying in the street drifting in an out of consciousness as his wife hovered over him.

Tiger Woods: timeline of career He had cuts on his lips and blood in his mouth and officers carried out first aid, said local police chief Daniel Saylor.

Woods was then taken to hospital in an ambulance but was later released.

Mrs Nordegren told police she was inside the couple’s house in a gated community in Orlando, Florida when she heard the accident and ran outside.

She grabbed a golf club and smashed the rear window of the black Cadillac Escalade to get to her husband.

Woods was on his own in the car and no other vehicles were involved. It was unclear where he had been intending to go at that early hour.

The Florida Highway Patrol said alcohol did not play a part in the crash but it was still under investigation and charges could be pending. They were trying to piece together how Woods, the world’s number one golfer, had managed to hit the fire hydrant and tree, which were on either sides of the road.

Airbags in the car did not deploy which suggests that it was travelling at less than 33mph.

The golfer’s agent, Mark Steinberg, said last night that Woods was “fine”.

A joint statement issued by Woods’ office and the hospital said: “Tiger Woods was in a minor car accident outside his home last night. He was admitted, treated and released today in good condition.”

The accident happened on a day when unsubstantiated rumours about the golfer’s private life were circulating on the internet.

Woods lives in a suburb of Orlando with his wife and their daughter, Sam Alexis, two, and son Charlie Axel, nine months.

His wife is a Swedish former model who was working as an au pair when the couple met at the 2001 Open.

They married in October 2004 at the Sandy Lane resort in Barbados in a ceremony that reportedly cost more than £1 million.

Their home is set on an Arnold Palmer-designed golf course and a chain of small lakes. The neighbourhood, which is fortified with high brick walls and has its own security force, is home to CEOs and other sports stars including basketball player Shaquille O’Neal.

Woods has won 93 tournaments including 14 “majors” and was the world’s highest-paid professional athlete last year, earning an estimated $110 million (£66 million) from winnings and endorsements.

He became sport’s first ever billionaire dollar earner earlier this year. He was the youngest player to win 50 tournaments and has been named golf’s player of the year a record nine times.

Woods is also credited with dramatically increasing the popularity of his sport and also the level of prize money.

He made a triumphant return to golf this year after missing much of the 2008 season following knee surgery. He had the operation shortly after clinching his 14th major title, the 2008 US Open.

“Police arrived minutes later and found Woods, 33, lying in the street drifting in an out of consciousness as his wife hovered over him. “

I wonder if she was chasing him with a club? And if the cuts were from that?

@Joe Lovell, Thanks for the updates, Joe. I’m guessin’ Mrs. Tiger beat his ass with a 3-iron after he got drunk and belligerant. Don’t know why, just THINKIN… ;-)

        @The GTL™,

        Here’s an update
Tabloids reporting of Woods having an affair early in the day. Given the source, I’m going to assume they are not true, but they could have been a catalyst.

@The GTL™, Dont think it was a 3 iron GTL. Considering it was “Mrs. Woods”, the swing weight would be too much for her specs. Not enough loft as well, reducing the about of spin she would get in whacking “Mr. Woods” upside the head. The lie angle of her husbands 3 iron would also be too upright, not allowing her to effectively find his backside…

I presume, if she was not using her own custom fit clubs, that she was using one of his wedges, perhaps a 60 degree, 52 degree gap wedge(great for that gap he now has between his teeth), or even a standard pitching wedge(as she pitched his sh**t out on the street).

Hope all is fine now. Want to see you back soon

  • Doomed

He hit both sides of the road.

My guess is she was beating the crap outta him, chasing him with a 3 iron and beating the rear window forcing him to swerve like a madman and crashing into both sides of the street.

He will be charged with reckless driving. Failure to maintain control. Disturbing the peace, destruction of city property and tresspassing.

Thats why their are so many charges pending.

My daughter once went around a corner, hooked the curb, blew out two tires and ran up onto a dirt sidewalk and hit a city fence.

She was charged with all kinds of stuff. She was not drunk or under the influence.

    Curiouser and curiouser:

The patrol classified the injuries as serious. The first word from Woods’ camp – some 13 hours after the crash – was that it was a “minor accident,” and he was in good condition after being treated and released.

Saylor said his two officers found the 33-year-old Woods lying in the street with his wife, Elin, hovering over him.

Saylor said Woods’ wife told officers she was in the house when she heard the accident and “broke the back window with a golf club.” He said the front-door windows were not broken and that “the door was probably locked.”

“She supposedly got him out and laid him on the ground,” he said. “He was in and out of consciousness when my guys got there.”

Minor accident? Laying in the street, going in nad out of consiousness? Cuts to his lips? I bet she “laid him out on the ground.”

On a totally different subject, sounds like some of Mother Englands Greatest Generation have many of the same complaints that we have here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1229643/This-isnt-Britain-fought-say-unknown-warriors-WWII.html

In the Mail this week, Gordon Brown wrote about ‘our debt of dignity to the war generation’.

But the truth that emerges from these letters is that the survivors of that war generation have nothing but contempt for his government.

They feel, in a word that leaps out time and time again, ‘betrayed’.
New Labour, said one ex-commando who took part in the disastrous Dieppe raid in which 4,000 men were lost, was ‘more of a shambles than some of the actions I was in during the war, and that’s saying something!’
He added: ‘Those comrades of mine who never made it back would be appalled if they could see the world as it is today.

‘They would wonder what happened to the Brave New World they fought so damned hard for.’
Nor can David Cameron take any comfort from the elderly.

His ‘hug a hoodie’ advice was scorned by a generation of brave men and women now too scared, they say, to leave their homes at night.

I don’t entirely understand how a person could crash their car so hard right outside their house

Our fascination with those that are in the public eye is only surpassed by our hidden desire that they fall from grace and become human just like the rest of us. Yet, they are human all along. why speculate on the fate of a guy who has immeasurable talent on the golf course? what if he had one too many pops? what if he and his wife got into a spat? So what? does it make him less of a golf superstar? does it take awqay from who nhe is? instead of taking great joy nin berating him, should we not be supportive? why spend time taking someone down before we even know what took place?

Tiger Woods’ serious car accident was so funny (guess wifey caught up with his lies). It was reported that Woods went for a drive after having a fight with wife Elin Nordegren over an alleged affair the golfer had with Rachel Uchitel prior to the accident. But what I’d really want to know, who exactly is Rachel Uchitel and is she Tiger Woods’ mistress??

  • David

Its not often that Tiger Woods starts out with a bad drive, hits a water hazard, and ends up in the trees.

  • Sports

For years Tiger Woods has been the sporting ideal – the clean-cut golf genius, the family guy, the kind of man you want to take out for a beer… But now in just the space of a week, his image has totally changed. Tiger had a car crash, a mysterious one that he won’t talk about and he uncharacteristically pulled out of his own tournament. This kind of publicity is rare for Tiger, and that’s why we like it.

Since the accident, sports blogs have been going crazy with comments about Tiger Woods, some negative, most still positive. There were hundreds of comments posted to CNN’s World Sports Blog, some angry and some saying ‘what’s all the fuss?’ This sports blog is one of the top listed in Dozensports.com . In many ways, Tiger’s demise is good for sports blogs. Firstly it gives them something to write about and it creates traffic – in fact, Tiger Woods is now more talked-about online than the war in Afghanistan.
