Senator Lincoln: I STILL Refuse To Vote To Pass A Public Option
Well, well, WELL — the world famous “Party Of NO!” had absolutely no intention of discussing well-needed and well-overdue healthcare reform so in struts our heroine, Senator Blanche Lincoln to say Hey — at LEAST let’s discuss and debate ObamaCare before we simply discard the whole idea! according to The Politico (courtesy of MemeOrandum).
Kudos, Ms. Lincoln. While I’m not convinced the single-payer type of public option preferred by President Barack Hussein Obama is THE answer, I AM convinced our healthcare system cartel is in BAD need of reform and/or at least an intelligent debate. While this whole ObamaCare debate is far from over even with your vote to move the bill forward for debate, America owes you a “thanks” for your courage to agree it must move toward the next step in the Senate.
This is nothing more than a small victory for the American People and our Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and it should not be viewed as anything other than that. On the other hand, ObamaCare remains alive and well until such time comes when the Senate Democrats join their Republican cohorts in screaming “NO!”…
And it STILL may be up to Senator Lincoln to cover her ears and scream that final “NO!” in the end. But, till then…
The debate lives ON.

I’m hoping this bill fails (for lots of reasons), but you’re right GTL. No reason for the Democrats not to move it to the floor. The fact that it was difficult to even do THAT shows how much trouble the bill is in.
I have a feeling we are going to get a national version of Dirigo (spelling) Health in Maine. I think there is only a $95 penalty in the Senate version for those who blow off health care. What this means is that the uninsured will jump in and out at will. So, the bill will drive up costs for everyone and, at the end of the day, the % of uninsured won’t change.
@SJ,
Exactly, if the Dems can’t just rahm it thought, you have to wonder just how bad it it.
As for discussing it – look at how the left deals with gun control. “Well, let’s just talk about it. Maybe you can meet us half way.” So, stupidy, the moderates and conservatives listen to the proposal, which is now a bill on the floor, and then public pressure has pretty much assured that this bill, “for the children,” will pass. So, the moderates and conservatives have ceded half the field to the left, while the left has moved hardly at all.
Then the left says again “Hey! Bad things are happening! Can’t you meet us half way on this? Can’t we talk about it?” And, foolishly, conservatives agree to listen. And, of course, it isn’t just talking, there is of all things, another bill. And, in a frenzy of emotion, it comes to a vote and passes. So, with making no concessions, the rabid, social engineers of the left have taken half of the remaining field, and now have 3/4 of their agenda in place.
And again they cry: “Think of the children! We need to at least discuss it!” And paint the conservatives and moderates as heartless obstructionists with no concern for ‘the children.’ So, there is another bill, and more ‘meeting half way’ talk. And soon, the social engineering levelers (well, everyone except themselves is equal, they get to keep their elite status), have 7/8 of their agenda in place.
“Run Chusid of Liberal Values (Left) seems to agree with Ms. Lincoln and myself this ObamaCare bill needs much more fine-tuning but debate is great”
Thanks for the link. It is questionable to what degree it will happen, but it would be great if there is opportunity to debate and possibly change aspects of this. We all do seem to agree with regards to allowing this to go to the Senate for debate–but we might not all agree as to which parts should be changed or how they should be changed. At least the process is far more open than it was under Hillary Clinton.
The health care reform is a good thing.
Adding a public entitlement for 45-50 million more Americans is NOT.
This bill is set to have the taxation begin in 2010…YET the bill itself does not even take effect until 2014.
So we get 4 years of taxes to then apply to 6 years of program and they claim it will REDUCE the DEFICIT and pay for itself.
HOWEVER….
Upon further analysis by many groups including the CBO…the price for this BOONDOGGLE is going to be 2.5 trillion Dollars from 2014-2024…….the 10 full years its actually in effect.
THAT DEPENDS UPON……….
Congress cutting 500 billion in fraud and abuse from medicare………..does anyone believe they can do that?
Right now they are supposed to cut 5-6 percent per year payments to physicians and they do not…they roll it over till next year.
Why?
Because once the bill is in force its an entitlement program that MUST be funded.
Its bogus lies, from the party of liars…….AGW…Health CARE….The WAR…..you name it and what hasnt the Democrats lied about?
IF the CBO sez……
The cost will be 2.5 trillon from 2014-2024 you can bet it will be 5 trillion or 7 trillion or 10 trillion.
TAke it to the bank…..but at least poor people who dont work, will have insurance while this country suffers and slides into the ways of the former USSR.
This is our arms race and one we are destined to loose.
Thank god for Moderate Blue Dog…Fiscally sane blue dog democrats.
Republicans for Blue Dogs!!!!!!!
