My apologies — it’s been quite awhile yet again since the last time I’ve offered our co-bloggers, readers and/or commenters to speak their minds on anything they wish. Today, I do sincerely hope to make up for that, as there are most certainly many opinionated co-bloggers (as I call any of you who participate in our discussions) here and it’s been perhaps, TOO long since we’ve hosted an open-post opportunity.
Here’s what is on MY mind and next, it’s YOUR turn to opine on items weighing heavily on YOUR minds. Or even what is on MY mind, as posted in this column…

Even though I lean “Left”, I attended school with this lady for three years and I’ve got to be honest — I sat beside her (sniffing, whiffing, as SHOULD be expected) in class as we were taught geography and history and she DOES, in FACT know Africa is NOT a country. Either that or she was on magic mushrooms during class, which I’m here to report the fact she didn’t exhibit any of those typical warning signs she might be intoxicated. Sarah was a member of the National Honor Society (“NHS”) and was NO doomass. It pains me to make these statements, but believe me, Sarah is NOT “dumb” (Ms. Althouse). Completely IGNORANT on some themes and issues? Perhaps, but ignorance has little to do with one’s I.Q. Let’s be fair here…

President Obama To See To It Mexican Illegal Aliens Move Ahead In The Line Of LEGAL and LAW Abiding Wannabe American Citizens Of Other Races (NYT)… Something Wrong With That? Or Not?
BOO-HISS, President Obama. This is NOT what we hired you for and if you follow through with this bigotted, racist plan to continue the right-wing agenda of suppressing our wages by giving instant “Legal” status to Mexican criminals over those who aim to become American Citizens via our “front door”, I will campaign ACTIVELY against you in your reelection bid.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again — the solution to the illegal alien (oh, I’m sorry — I meant “immigrant”) problem is to send the SWAT teams into ALL of the right-wing corporations and “bidnesses” who profit off of the backs of these jerks in order to boost their bottom corporate lines via the RICO Act or any OTHER “act” at your disposal. Legalize this type of activity, Mr. Obama, and you prove yourself to be nothing less than just another Neocon -slash- Bush III (which I already, obviously suspect anyway). I sincerely do hope Your Excellency will reconsider your stance on this topic.

A recent study by The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities revealed that 41 states are facing severe budget shortfalls for 2009. In all, the 41 states are currently facing a $71.9 billion budget shortfall. The key word here is “currently,” since a similar study was conducted by the same group only three months earlier, at which time “only” 29 states were predicted to face shortfalls of a “mere” $48 billion. As the recession deepens, so will the state’s budget problems, turning this “budget crisis” into a humanitarian disaster. Projections have already been made for a $200 billion shortfall by 2010.
Someone on the left explain to me how raising taxes, creating another public entitlement program and legalizing millions of more poor people is going to benefit the middle class that the left continually bemoans as disappearing.
Someone explain to me how this new health care bill is supposed to help states that are reeling under current economic conditions going to survive at all under the Obama administrations desire to burden us even more with massive debt of unsustainable proportions.
Someone explain to me why they would ever vote for a democrat? I can understand not wanting to vote for the Republican given the last 8 years but a democrat?
Whose goal is to keep you in perpetual poverty, all the while claiming its the Republicans fault.

Obama’s first budget deficit I think is 1.4 trillion. If I have the right numbers in my head, I think he will add more to the national debt in 4 years than Bush did in 8, correct?

Kudos for you point #3! My current company has many LEGAL immigrants working beside me compared to my last one. They are darn smart, they work hard, and are, to a man, super nice folks who love this country. As a reward, they get to wait FOREVER in line for citizenship while we pander to illegals from latin America. It’s just wrong either from the left or right POV. Thanks for keeping us up to date on this one!

@Joe Lovell, What can anyone say anymore about this radical administration.
All I can say is that its going to be a long time before Alinsky works again in the presidential process. This is the progressives only shot and they know it.
They are going to pass health care reform even if its by motion to recommitt. Next year they will do the same with illegal immigration legalizing 12-15 million more POOR democratic voters.
Sometime between now and 2010 elections Im sure we will see a punitive cap and tax bill of some kind passed intended to bankrupt the one remaining state that is in the black each year…..Wyoming.
They have to do it now….they will never have this chance again…..ever.

Let me explain. I don’t care about abortion, gay rights, Acorn or social issues of any kind right now.
What I do care about is the financial viability of this nation in the next 10-25 years and with Obama and the progressives in complete charge with a complicit Blue Dog Congress we literally are F*****!!!.
Our only hope is fiscally responsible Blue Dog Moderate Democrats.
I propose that the GOP get behind them with a promise to vote for them in 2010 for the long term viability of our nation.
Otherwise folks….Look at the numbers…..this fiscal policy of the Democrats is insane. Pure insanity.
@Doomed, in a horrid way, the former junior senator from IL may be the best thing that has happened for the GOP in decades. With even the main stream media starting to question him – starting somewhat hesitantly, but starting – by the time the mid-terms come up, there just may be enough of a backlash to oust some of the worst of the leftists and move Congress towards the center.
And I hope, his antics will get peple actually paying attention to what the capons say and do. Really pay attention to the content of what they say,not just how they say it.
@Joe Lovell, The problem Joe is not 2010. Its next month and next year. In that time frame they can have healthcare, cap and tax and immigration reform in place.
We need help now to stand up to this fiscal madness. NOW!!
@Doomed, I’ll agree that we have to rein in the capons in Congress now, BUT – even if the health care and cap & tax get though now, there would be time to repeal them before they take effect.
And, look at the House vote on health care – a bare majority. HRH Nancy should have had 258 (?) votes she could count on if they were all in the lock-step they usually march in. She got 220, which included one R. That is cutting it close. And like as not it will be tied up in the Upper House, I’ve even seen some comments about maybe a DEM filibuster against it.
What I’m wondering is if somehow the balance of power in Congress does swing back to the R side is, will the Dems, who are all screaming that it isn’t very nice for the moderates and right wing to use the mob tactics of the left, will go back to using those mob tactics they now decry. And will the MSM suddenly go back to lovingly reporting every American death in Iraq and Afghanistan, or will it maintain its silence?

Sanity is in short supply right now in DC.
