THE Gun Toting Liberal Reaches Out To His Fellow Commentators -Slash- Co-Bloggers And Readers To Furnish Their Opinions On Any Of The Above, Below, Or Anything Else Political One Wishes To O-Pine On…
Okay, let’s have some more of that good ole’ Open Post fun again, shall we? Lotsa’ stuff going on and lotsa’ stuff to be touching one. As always with these Open Blog columns, it’s up to you, the readers and frequenters of this website to weigh in and speak your minds on any of the following topics or whatever other topic with political ramifications in the comments section below. Allow me to weigh in on a few topics then y’all take over, okay? Yep, that’s the way these Open Thread opportunities work, so have a field day.
First up:
ObamaCare Public Option Is Now More Than Twice As Popular As The Republican Party And Four Times More Popular Than Poisonous Snakes And Large Slugs…
A few days ago, we learned two important facts — A) The ObamaCare Public Option is favored by 57% of ordinary, everyday Americans and B) The G.O.P. is trusted by 75% of ordinary, everyday Americans to make competent decisions on Capitol Hill. Today, we learn the troubled Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has “reluctantly” signed onto the Public Option (The Politico’s Glenn Thrush).
Perhaps, this is because Senator Reid of Nevada has suddenly found God. Or, less likely, he has figured out that when nearly 60% of his fellow Americans back ObamaCare and half of all Nevadans despise him as he frantically runs for a very possibly ill-fated reelection bid in 2010 (LA Times). I’m leaning toward the former more than the latter, of course. Then again, I’m just a beer drinking doomass with a keyboard and a domain name of my own so take that for what it’s worth…
New “Hip-Hop G.O.P.” Leader Michael Steele Allows Anti-Racial Marriage Captioned Photo Of President Obama Eating Chicken To Remain On RNC Facebook Page For Days Until Democratic Underground Catches Him Red-Handed…
Alrighty then — we NOW finally know what the Republican National Committee’s first black Chairman meant when he said he was going to build a new “Hip-Hop G.O.P.” under his leadership. I’ve been waiting and waiting to see what he was talking about — i.e., was “Snoop Dog” going to be wearing a backward baseball cap with the Republican Party’s logo on primetime, major network commercials? Were we going to be seeing “Fitty Cent” at Tea Bag parties? I had no idea and very few others, if any of us did, what exactly Mr. Michael Steele was talking about. That is, until TODAY (The Raw Story). If you happened to click on that last link, you saw the answer with your own two eyes: the RNC/G.O.P.’s “Hip-Hop” version of the Republican Party would most likely OFFEND Snoop Dawg, Fitty and anybody else with half a brain or more, regardless of skin tone. That’s probably just MOI though?
Uno Mas (That’s “One More” In Panama John McCain’s Native Language), then that’s it for MOI:
Were The (Soon To Be “Former”) Northwest -Slash- Delta Airline Pilots Who Missed Minneapolis-St. Paul International REALLY Just Listening To G.O.P. “Hip-Hop” On Their Laptops As Stated? Or Could There Be More To The Story…
Okay, call me a “skeptic” but a few days ago, we heard the pilot and co-pilot of this flight were so engaged in an argument over FCC regulations they forgot to land their plane until a flight attendant banged on the door to ask them why they were still flying versus landing the plane. Many assumed they fell asleep. Many assumed they were simply arguing. Nobody was biting. There just had to be more to this story, right?
Today we learned the truth the latest excuse: they were both so engaged in be-bopping to Michael Steele’s “Hip-Hop G.O.P.” tunes with their laptops and headphones turned up to “10″ (The Atlantic’s James Fallows), they forgot that planes that ascend must eventually descend — and on a (preferably) particular schedule, if possible.
Look — we all know there is a real problem in America today with workers playing around on the Internets and Blogospheres during “bidness” hours. It happens all over America every day and it costs employers millions of dollars in lost profits — totally unnaceptable, right? Again — call me a “skeptic”, but after listening to First Officer Cole’s first interview yesterday, he said (Paraphrased): No, we weren’t arguing; we weren’t sleeping; we enjoyed a 19 hour layover together the day before; OOPS — I’ve already said too much. HMMM…
INTERESTING. To say the very least. Now it was all about “laps” and “tops”? Err… I meant “laptops”, didn’t I? Not jumping to conclusions here but why do you suppose I keep thinking “Mile High Club”? Nawww… never mind. I’m sure I’m way off (as I frequently am).
Annnnnnd, now it’s YOUR turn. Back to you, my friends.

I find a couple things interesting.
1. How the Democrats have so demonized the insurance companies in order to make their push for a public option.
2. How the left has demonized DDT over the years forcing its ban from use against Malaria. This banning has killed 50,000,000 people. To the point that the WHO 2 years ago removed the ban on DDT.
3. How the Democrats love poverty. Where is their righteous outrage at the horrid conditions around the world? In their own country.
4. How the democrats in 2005 blasted Bush for not having enough flu vaccine that year but that this year not a peep coming from them over this presidents personally not rolling up his sleeves and producing Vaccines out his rectum as they demanded Bush do.
5. How the left has turned CO2 into a crisis in order to push their agenda, which is to transfer wealth to the poor countries of the world while severely penalizing one country in particular……the USA…..and even more amazing is how the left in the USA want this to happen.
6. And last but not least what I find truly amazing with the left of this country is their perpetual desire to keep the poor….perpetually poor. The compassionate left? Hardly.

OH, my! A reader submitted image allowed to stay up a few days! (gasps in horror!) And likely posted by a schill for HuffPo, MoveOn (which still seems stuck in 2000), or maybe the NAACP (“Leaders of the Maryland NAACP, worried that a Baltimore mayor’s criminal conviction could result in the appointment of a white or Republican leader who may not fully represent the majority black and Democratic city, are asking state lawmakers to strip the governor of authority to permanently fill the office.
Marvin L. Cheatham, the president of the Baltimore Chapter of the NAACP, introduced the resolution because he heard an attorney on a radio program discussing a lack of clarity on succession if Dixon were to be convicted and sentenced.
“Our concern is who would the governor appoint?” Cheatham said. “Here you have a predominantly African-American city. What if the governor appointed somebody white? … Would he appoint someone Irish to be the mayor?”
- Never heard a peep out of the left over THAT bit of racism by the NAACP) in order to discredit the GOP. OK, so they don’t check it every day, or even very often. Or the person missed it, or didn’t read it. Or maybe, just maybe they figured that FREEDOM OF SPEECH (that whole pesky First Amendment thing, almost as much trouble for the left as the eeeee-vvviiiillll Second Amendment) and even though the Keepers Of The Site found it distasteful, they figured it was valid FREE EXPRESSION OF POLITICAL IDEAS. Of course, the left can’t permit that.

Democrats in general, and the current “administration” in particular, believe that the First Amendment only applies to people who agree with them.
When they have neutralized the only dissenting MSM voice – Fox News, they will then turn their attention to centrist and conservative blogs.

I love it! Doomed, F&B, and Joe- GTL’s blog as it should be, a voice for individual freedom against the ever expanding power grabs of the government.

@Mike 300 Spartans, let’s not forget GTL himself. Making it possible for all of us to spew our own ideas on one of the most popular political blogs around.
Hmmm….maybe he should star a Mybook or facespace page. He could have a million friends overnight.

@Joe Lovell, Rumor has it that he has such a site. It is actually called bookspace and only the elite illuminati types get to become bookspace friends with GTL. Yes, hats off to GTL for such a great site.

@Joe Lovell, To be honest with you, I LOVE facebook. If for nothing else it is great for connecting with old friends you have lost touch with. If you have a friend with a common name like Jim Smith, it would be almost impossible to find him even with white pages search, but you start searching your friend’s friends and with photos, you find Jim has found your classmate Linda, and bing! You found Jim again. For someone like me who tends to average 10 addresses every ten years it has been great.

@Joe Lovell, See, this is where the hipocrisy comes out from me: I relentlessly attacked the Panama John McCain campaign for their misundertandings of The FaceBooks and the My Spaces but really, in fact, I don’t know how to use ‘em either
LOL….

@The GTL™, LOL! Yeah, I kind of fumble around. I get a notice that someone posted something to my comment wall, I go read it, maybe reply. I know there are a lot of features. But hell, I’m doing good if I can remember how to add photos.

@Joe Lovell,
I totally agree with Mike on FB. My wife and daughter made join it, and now that we have high speed internet, it is cool to keep up with some old friends.
Don’t work GTL, the internets are easy, even for us old people (I’m 38)

Transparancy you can BELIEVE in:
Quote:When it came to divulging basic information, it was Richard Nixon’s administration that became infamous for the phrase, and practice, of “modified, limited hangout.” Now the Obama administration has abandoned all but the “limited” part. The candidate whose most identifiable promise was to provide open and transparent government instead is leading an administration rife with secrecy, stonewalling and prevarication.
Quote:”The way to hold government accountable is to make it transparent so that the American people can know exactly what decisions are being made [and] how they’re being made. … Starting today, every agency and department should know that this administration stands on the side not of those who seek to withhold information, but those who seek to make it known. … The mere fact that you have the legal power to keep something secret does not mean you should always use it.”
Fine sentiments. But this is the same president who promised to abide by campaign spending limits – until the time came actually to do it. Likewise, these pledges were quickly tossed into the sewer of power politics. ”
