Hey, we’re back! This Week Seven of the National Fooball League’s season is about to go into full swing this Sunday and we seem to have a few more answers and a few more questions than we did in Week Six. For example:
The New Orleans Saints ain’t the “Aint’s” no more. The “Who Dat Nation” is dancing in the streets now that the silver and black has handily dismantled the previously also-undefeated New York Giants at The Superdome. That’s that, right? The Saints are the NFL’s best team, led by the amazing Drew Brees, correct? Although I’d lean toward the latter, the “Who Dats” had better wait before popping their champaign corks because, while at first glance, the Saints have what amounts to a bye week as they travel to The Sunshine State to face the hapless Miami Dolphins. Newsflash: Do NOT take this game lightly, Who Dats — I look for the Dolphins to give the Saints one helluva game. Were I a betting man, I’d take the Phish and the points but hey — I’m not a betting man so make your own decisions. Just a “hunch” let’s say.
This just in: Terrell Owens SUCKS. Not only has he been a non-factor at Buffalo, nobody else wanted him either as Tuesday was the trade deadline and good ole’ “T.O.” is still going to be wearing a Bills uniform this weekend. As the AP points out though — everybody who wears a hat, doff it to T.O. considering the fact he has broken one of his own records while at Buffalo — his longest moment of Media silence in recent memory.
Taking a lesson from Terrell — that’s enough jaw-jackin’ as we say down here in my little ole’ Red State of Alabama. Let’s get down to the meat and potatos (got that, Mr. Dan Quale? That’s how it’s spelled, Sir…

Still four that are X – 0, have we had that many undefeteds this late before? And still three that have goose eggs in the W colum.
Got some that look like yawners this week. And a few that should be good. The SD/KC match is always good for a hockey fight or two. I go with you and give a thin edge to SD, but I wouldn’t wager more than a beer on it. Lots of good deep seated rivalry there, and KC will want to look good at home against they long time enemy.
My gut tells me go with the Steelers over the Vikes. No numbers to back me on that, just a feeling.

@Joe Lovell, I’m a big Vikings fan Joe, and I’d love to see them win, but with the injury to a key defensive player for the Vikes, Pittsburg the defending Super Bowl champs at home. Well, my betting money is all against the Vikes going to 7-0 and I’ll be passing out free imaginary e-dollars* to everyone Sunday if the Vikes win.

I’d take that Mike. I’ve had some trouble avoiding Maroczy’s bind, however, I am somewhat confident with my Caro-Kann.
BTW – I pick the Lions to cover this week. I think they have it in them, though it’s a stretch…

@sphouch, I use to have a lot of trouble playing against the Caro-Kann as White but I found an early push of my king/knight pawn to g4 usually results in some wild king side attacks by white. It is pretty risky my center usually collapses and black dominates if I don’t pull off significant damage to the king side to compensate.

@sphouch, Oops, I forgot to preface that with the assumtion that black has moved bishop to f5, this allows me to chase it with the kingside pawns, the bishop is never caught unless black blunders, but the chasing builds space and momentum for white to hopefully break through somewhere, not infrequently with a knight sac on blacks f7 pawn. Are we still talking football? Naw, I don’t think the lions will beat the bye this week, I think the bye will beat them by at least 3.

Lookin’ good on the early games at half time, Guns. And, ’bout time:

@Joe Lovell, LOL… GAWDAMPHUCINFORTYNINERS!!! Da bastids. That’d have been one I’d have loved to have been wrong on
As for the early picks — still not sure about those Vikes. They can’t protect Favre or open holes for the running game today worth a dayum. Oh well, it’s only halftime I suppose and hopefully the Vikes’ll make some well-needed adjustments

I have to say, the Vikings were in the game until the very end. This was the test to see if they were real or not. Two very bad (heartbreaking) mistakes and a bad tripping call. I think they will do well this year. The Superbowl… Too far down the line.
