Former Bush AG: Wait — I Didn’t Mean It When I Said Torture Probes Should Continue — At Least Not After Learning I, Myself Might Be Probed…
The out-of-work former highest Executive prosecutor of the land under the reign of President “Surge” W. Bush is at it again. The Talking Points Memo (“TPM“) is reporting Mr. “Will Work For Food” has changed his mind about his Democratic counterpart under President Barack Hussein Obama, AG Eric Holder’s plans to not only take the former USAF E-4‘s (WikiPedia — his highest military accomplishment) advice to the Obama Administration to investigate possible torture allegations of the Bush Administration’s UNDERLINGS (TPM again), he has completely changed his mind after learning Eric Holder doesn’t intend to stop with the “Bush foot soldiers”. Once ole’ Alberto learned he, himself, might also be investigated, along with his colleagues, just a couple of days later, the jackass has “flip-flopped”. Big surprise? Not to MOI.
From the first referenced third-party column (TPM Muckracker):
Gonzo On Support For Torture Probe: Um, Never Mind
Zachary Roth
Oh this is good…Big Surprise -- Alberto Gonzales Gets Cold Feet After Praising Eric Holder For Torture Investigations Once He Learns He Too Might Be Held Accountable
Remember how Alberto Gonzales came out the other day and said he supports Eric Holder’s decision to investigate torture, as long as the probe is limited to CIA personnel who exceeded the lawyers’ legal guidance? …”
(Snip!)
“… As you’ll remember, Gonzo had left little doubt earlier this week that he supported the probe:
We worked very hard to establish ground rules and parameters about how to deal with terrorists. And if people go beyond that, I think it is legitimate to question and examine that conduct to ensure people are held accountable for their actions, even if it’s action in prosecuting the war on terror.
“… Gonzales’ volte-face on the issue echoes that of his Bush administration colleague Tom Ridge on the question of whether the Bushies played politics with the terror alerts. In excerpts from his book reported recently, Ridge asserted that they had. …”
(Snip!)
“… As for Gonzo, he spent a portion of the rest of the interview twisting himself into knots to explain why his new position isn’t really a contradiction of his old one. …”
Well, well, WELL. Mr. “Will Work For Food” seems to be a bit afraid of fact that now, because the man weasel is no longer an “above-the-law-elite”; he’s nothing but yet another unemployed former “so-and-so” (nothing against the unemployed, I believe you know what I mean here, regardless of your employment situation), he, TOO might be found to be guilty of war crimes and even held accountable for them. Remember, Mr. “Will Work For Food” isn’t the ONLY one crying and whining like a baby these days over this issue — former Bush Veep, Richard “Dick” “Shotgun” Cheney is desparately appearing on every far-right media venue available to beg and plead for Team Obama to stop these investigations as well.
At the VERY least, it gives food for though, doesn’t it?

There is no contradiction. The rules and limits were planned and set. They were checked against legal counsel and given the green light. Gozales is in favor of investigating and prosecuting any one or activities that went past the parameters of the guidelines given. But to go back on people who made the guidelines that had already been approved is not the way to go. You want to change the rules of a game, fine, change them, but you can’t or you shouldn’t go after people for breaking your new rules before they existed. That would be much like congress passing bonuses to AIG and then trying to make it illegal for the employees to keep them.
