Another “ObamaCare” -Slash- “Transparent Government” Takes One Step Forward, Two Steps Back Into “BushCo” Territory

Obama Obamacare Transparent Government BushCo Dinos Rinos Change Another ObamaCare Slash Transparent Government Takes One Step Forward, Two Steps Back Into BushCo TerritoryPresident Barack Hussein Obama A “Socialist”? If So, Why Does He Smell More And More like His Predescessor Every Day?

It wasn’t so long ago when the Cheney-Bush team refused to give up the visitor records to their White House and now it appears, Sir Obama is doing the same now that a Citizen’s advocacy group by the name of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington have asked him to reveal the names and visit times of all of the “Big Medicine” and “Big Pharmaceutical” lobbyists who’ve paid him very “special” visits lately. After campaigning on a “Yes, we can!” sort of “Change!” in bidness as usual politics in the Oval Office, you’d have widely expected President Obama to have said “Sure, no problem. Here ‘ya go!” But that’s not what he said. He almost directly quoted the Cheney-Bush team’s LAME argument used just a couple of years ago:

… The Secret Service sent a reply stating that documents revealing the frequency of such visits were considered presidential records exempt from public disclosure laws. The agency also said it was advised by the Justice Department that the Secret Service was within its rights to withhold the information because of the “presidential communications privilege.” … — L.A. Times

Eerily similar to BushCo, isn’t it? Where is the REAL difference between Presidents Obama and Bush anyway? I mean, really — take away the smoke and mirrors and toss it out of the way then take a REALLY close look and tell me how this new administration represents “Change”? First up, it was the Republicans who were the first to start whining about the need for health care reform as I pointed out yesterday and now that President Obama has picked up the torch where the G.O.P. left it fizzling, it’s suddenly going to be either “Obamacare” or “Obama’s Waterloo” (Republican Senator Jim DeMint) depending upon which jackass on Capitol Hill you choose to listen to. Some “Change”, eh? Or, rather, the only “Change” lies in the united divided G.O.P.’s stance on the issue.

Telecom immunity? Another “BushCo” issue President Obama stood hand-in-hand, singing “Kum-Ba-Yah” with the Cheney-Bush team on. It was a clear act of favoritism toward our new Oligarchy and disdain toward our Constitutional 4th Amendment Civil Liberty against unlawful search and seizure by our government. That’s not my only issue with “Mr. Change”, however — and it’s up to you to determine whether I’m a “far-leftist” or simply a Liberal with a strong libertarian streak in me. Libertarian-Left? Almost the same thing. Think about it.

This president was elected to reflect, in his own words, and I quote — “Change!” (President Barack Hussein Obama — Campaign Trail ’08). And THIS Liberal is waiting to see just that. So far, all I’m seeing is a “Bush II” administration. And it started with the TARP II BURP II followup to former President “Surge” W. Bush’s TARP I bailout plan and has continued to date.

CHANGE, Mr. Obama. CHANGE. After all, that WAS your promise to myself and the others in America’s voting majority who gave you that “cushy” Oval Office job and we expect you to KEEP it. 2012 is just around the corner, after all, SIR.

“Telecom immunity? Another “BushCo” issue President Obama stood hand-in-hand, singing “Kum-Ba-Yah” with the Cheney-Bush team on”.

Ah yes, bring me back to the good ol’ days of the Left squawking about the shredding of the Constitution. It was so amusing to see the Left collectively hold their breath and turn purple that I almost could forget that I agreed with ‘em, at least to some degree.

BTW, where is the outrage from the Left on turning all of medical records over to the government if Obamacare passes? Are y’all saying that it’s bad to listen to potential terrorist phone calls, but it’s okay for the government to know every detail of my personal life? Just asking.

    • Dave Dubya

Chuck, I call them all corporatists.

And relax, I’m prettty sure the Insurance/Medical complex already allows government access to our medical records. And the government doesn’t even pretend to need warrants to gather that and other information about us, and communications by us. We have Bush/Cheney to thank for building the fine-tuned national security state apparatus for Big Brother. And we have Obama to thank for keeping it polished.

We already have all the change you can deceive in.

GTL- Are you kidding me? This article sounds like Charlie Brown complaining that Lucy pulled the football away. Stepping away from the “good or bad” of this or that policy, when was the last time an administration was Open and Honest? The only one in my lifetime of 40 plus years that I even half trusted was Jimmy Carter, I think he did a real poor job as president but he really seemed to have an honest integrity about him. The rest of them I trust about as much as back alley poker players.

GTL nailed it. So far, Obama talks a good game but here’s the new boss, same as the old boss.

I’m quite sure that Obama is working hard. The question is, for whom?

There are some things to consider. For example, if ObamaCare passes, will diabetics and others who depend on having the ability to get medical care need to give up activism? Would it be a good idea to do activism against a government that can kill any chronically ill activist just by saying “No care for you”, and which is immune from any suit the dying activist brought? Even if the activist won, would he have a chance in hell of doing so while he was still alive? You never know, they say that God has a special angel who looks out for fools and small children. I have seen no evidence of such an angel, however.

DD: “Chuck, I call them all corporatists.” — Gawd, and you say I’m obsessed !?!?! Who isn’t a ‘corporatist’ by your definition, the homeless?

If Obama is capable of changing anything, I wish he’d change things back to the way they were a couple of years ago when we were all prosperous. (i.e during the Bush years dem’s, aka ‘the good old days’)

If anyone who is serious about it and actually gives a hoot about creating a system that is truly equitable to all, take a look at the system Switzerland has developed. Insurance is required for all, government only steps up to fill the gaps for those who can’t afford private insurance. Very interesting system, probably the best one in Europe, the least intrusive.

If the dem’s version of health care reform would allow for continuation of private coverage, etc, there would be less objections to it.

The system as it stands (admittedly it isn’t final yet and they are still working on it) will improve care for some, but for the majority of Americans, health care will be worse than it is now.

You don’t fix something by making it worse. Unless you’re a democrat, I guess.

      Dave

I beg to differ. If the Federal government had access to our medical records, then for example, the VT shooter would not have been able to purchase a gun, as he had a history of psychiatric care. This is the most obvious example, but it serves to illustrate. There is a world of difference between records available by search warrant, and records available to government in general. The horrible record of government security of private information should give anyone pause.

    • Joe Lovell

How can we call the former community organizer from Chicago a socialist? How about his promise to break big business? Or his promise to redistribute the wealth? Or maybe his record of voting for citizen disarmament?

But, he does seem to have turned into Bruthuh Bush, doesn’t he? Could it be that he maybe saw that what he promised on the campaign trail could not work so he is falling back on what had been working until the Burton Machine took control of the House.

    • Mike Hatcher

Chuck- I’m more in agreement with Dave on this particular thread. I think your illustration falls short in assuming the Feds would use the information, if they had it, in a particular way. Even if they had a nice tidy list of everyone that shouldn’t have a gun because of mental illness, they may be unwilling to act on such information in that it would expose the fact that they had such a list. I’m not convinced they have everything packaged so neatly (yet) but not stopping the VT shooter doesn’t, IMO, indicate they didn’t have the info.

    • Mike Hatcher

It might be worth investigating where the VT shooter got the money to buy his ammo. Perhaps an under the table contribution from an anti-gun advocate? …I’m just joking! Someone browsing the net comes across this and says, wow, what a nutcase he is. This might serve better as an illustration of the bad press Limbaugh gets. Taking a quote out of context.

    • bad dog

Oh yeah, Mike, poor Rush is so misunderstood.

    • Mike Hatcher

That’s righ bad dog, misunderstood and poor. For a mear 500 million he had to contract for 8 years. Thats probably less than 33 million after taxes per year. Tiger Woods pulls over 100 million in just one year. After tax dollars would still be about double Rush’s pay. Of course I’ll admit I don’t know how much other money Rush gets in a year through endorsments or book royalties and such.

@ Bad Dog’s “So far, Obama talks a good game but here’s the new boss, same as the old boss.” Spot on, Bro. They’re the same because they both belong to the Elitist Church of Superior Mind Power & We B Yo Mama. Although I think Obeyme is the better liar of the two.

Have you seen the Government-Run Health Care Plan Flowchart? If not, I’ve got it up on my blog. Obeyme’s Health plan consists of 31 federal programs/agencies to run it and it’s going to cost a hellava lot of money. Obeyme has shown Americans what he’s made of and spares no amount of money to “govern”. Speaking of governing, if he’s making TV appearances and traveling here and there campaigning for his agenda, when does he have time to do the Peoples Work? Is he going to be the spokesman while his bazillion Czars run the show (competing with the rogue element which really stands for change?

Do you have any idea how much it costs the taxpayers for Obeyme to travel around the country with his bazillion-member entourage, GTL? He’s spending our money hand over fist. What’s wrong with this picture?

    • Joe Lovell

‘Tater, look at where he got his training – the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, a radical “progressive” (even notice that they never mention towards what we are progressing?), racist, entitlement group. He has a sense of entitlement that makes a two year olds pale in comparison. I wanna eat my waffle, I didn’t come here to answer questions, I’m the president, I won. etc. etc. etc.

    • commontater

@ Joe Lovell I guess “training” is the operative word here. My sense is that he certainly was trained to be an orator, hence the need for TOTUS. He can’t speak jack shiite without an aid of some kind. Something is wrong somewhere; it seems all policy & procedures, traditional decorum, etc. are absent with this administration, i.e., stupid gifts to other heads of state, pics of him with his feet up on the desk in Oval office (don’t care whether he does it everyday, mind you, it just looks unprofessional and blind to the honor and stature of the office of the President, IMHO), not putting his hand on heart for the Pledge of Allegiance, etc., or I could just be an olde phart with manners..heh heh
