Question — Why Does Anybody Care About Anything “Leroy” Has To Say Anyway?
Newt Leroy Gingrich has been quite the mainstream media (“MSM”) darling over the last few months, hasn’t he? The man who holds the record for ethics charges (eighty-four — WikiPedia) while serving as House Speaker before “valiantly” resigning during his hell-bent persecution of former President William “Bill” Jefferson Clinton for his participation in the Monica Lewinsky scandal when it was learned old Leroy himself was an adulterer. If you’ll recall, Leroy stood valiantly at the podium as he admitted to America he was (paraphrasing now) a low down, dirty scandrel and cheater just like President Clinton was and by God, there is no room in powerful, high-ranking seats of office for lowlife, cheating scumbags such as himself and “Mr. Cigar”, whom was being impeached at the time thanks to Leroy. If I recall correctly, he even dared Cigar Man to follow his (so-called) “lead” resign in disgrace immediately along with himself for being a fellow scumbag. Fast-forward to today and Leroy is in the news again — this time, His High And Almighty-ness is attacking Judge Sonia Sotomayor for what he perceives to be “racist views” (CNN’s Political Ticker).
For the most part, the Left bloggers are feining their “surprise” that such a corrupt man would be chased by the MSM in the first place. “What relevance does HE have anyway? Leroy is a DISGRACED former House Speaker after all!” most of them seem to be asking their audiences. To these, allow me to shed a bit of light upon the subject for them so as to “unconfuse” my fellow Lefties — the man has had a change of heart and wishes to be YOUR next president. Oh, and sell more books. Oh, and get a few more of those decent paying Fox News Channel talking head gigs. Trust me — Leroy Gingrich will indeed be running another one of those “presidential exploratory committees” again for Election 2012. Adultery and ethics violations are “old hat” now to ole’ Leroy and by God, America looked past former (thank God) President “Surge” W. Bush’s cocaine and alcohol addictions and elected him to the presidency, so maybe they’ll look past a disgraced former cheating, adulterous, unethical scumbag’s past misdeeds and put him behind the numero uno desk in the world, the man is thinking. I promise you. Stay tuned.
I sincerely do hope everybody who has read this column will consider the source before they choose to follow his advice and/or even entertain Leroy’s “demands” for Ms. Sotomayor to “resign” even before her Supreme Court confirmation process circus has begun.

Congressman Tom Tancredo have followed Leroy’s rallying cry; Joe Gandleman of The Moderate Voice (Slightly Left Of Center) is predicting Leroy’s “racist” accusations are quickly becoming a GOP talking point; Michelle Malkin (Far Right) offers a completely biased, yet surprisingly well-thought out counterpoint on the topic; Allahpundit of Hot Air (Right) is even MORE thoughtful — suggests the G.O.P. sits this one out and simply confirm Ms. Sotomayor and save their “ICBM’s” for another time; John Cole of Balloon Juice (Left) is gloating at the G.O.P.’s latest incident of self-destruction and infighting…
I see we are not allowed to discuss anything that Might lead that Ms Sotamayer may have misspoke.. You are going to tell me that if ANYone that had said what she said they would have been thrown out before they hit the floor of the senate? You expect us to believe that? You must think everyone is an Idiot. Just because we aren’t rubber stamping her as you would like. I don’t care who she is.. I want the right person on that court with the right temperament. the fact that Even the Lawyers that she has delt with don’t like her doesn’t matter becuase she is to smart to listen? I want her to Listen. She better be able to take the heat! We all know that that she will pass in the end. But again You lefties Just can’t stand that anyone would dare to speak out and point out things that you have no answer for. Everyone has the right to voice there opinion. I can tell you with utmost certainty that you care more what Newt says than anyone I know in the Rightwing Deathsquad Softball league.
As for “minor” issues with Judge Sotomayer, I’m anxiously awaiting your column on her anti-gun and pro-affirmative action rulings.
You may or may not see a column on the topic (I just don’t know yet) but I can assure you I vehemently OPPOSE her views on the 2nd and as far as A/A goes; I have always believed it is a good idea in theory but needs to be based upon economic class and leave race out of it
Frazzled, someone DID say what she said and did not get thrown out — Justice Sam Alito. From his confirmation hearing:
“Because when a case comes before me involving, let’s say, someone who is an immigrant — and we get an awful lot of immigration cases and naturalization cases — I can’t help but think of my own ancestors, because it wasn’t that long ago when they were in that position.”
It’s amazing what you can do with one or two sentences when you remove them from the entire speech. Neither Alito nor Sotomayor was being racist. Rather, they were saying that their personal experiences helped them to better relate to certain cases and therefore might make them better able to issue a fair ruling on those cases.

Jon Stewart gave his book a great sendoff on The Daily Show. I don’t think I’ve ever seen THE NEWT take so much abuse in one interview to sell his soul.
Excellent post GTL and I agree with you. Who the hell is he to speak as the GOP center voice? If he is the center voice then I thank him for four more years of President Obama. And can I get an Amen from the Choire?

If you modified that to apply only to public institutions we could be in agreement, although even in it’s “better” form I would still have grave reservations.
