Sean Hannity Who Famously Volunteered To Be Waterboarded? NOPE — Erich “Mancow” Muller Who Actually Had The Gonies To Go Through With His Claim…
“It’s way worse than I thought it would be.” admitted Mancow (NBC Chicago), who had, by volunteering to be waterboarded had intended to propel his rightwing propaganda to his listeners and the mainstream media as a whole, had every plan to submit himself to waterboarding for no other reason than to sit behind his microphone and also proclaim before the Fox News cameras he had been waterboarded and it was “nothing” and “definitely not torture”. OOPS. His little “plan” didn’t exactly work out the way he had hoped. In fact, the U.S. Marine who administered the torture routine at Mancow’s request warned him the average person could only handle about 14 seconds of waterboarding. Mancow didn’t make it half that far (6-7 seconds) before he started crying like a baby, begging for the Marine to stop. First, this man is as more of an idiot than Sean Hannity due to the fact Sean Hannity “volunteered” to be waterboarded but in reality, has zero intention of carrying through with his “dare”. Second, at least Mancow has guts and integrity — the guts and integrity to actually carry through with his own “dare” to be waterboarded not to mention he has joined another right wing idiot in admitting the God’s honest truth — the fact that waterboarding INDEED is torture.
Who is the other far-right wing idiot who was crazy enough to do the same? Vanity Fair writer Christopher Hitchens…
… Last year, Vanity Fair writer Christopher Hitchens endured the same experiment — and came to a similar conclusion. The conservative writer said he found the treatment terrifying, and was haunted by it for months afterward.
“Well, then, if waterboarding does not constitute torture, then there is no such thing as torture,” Hitchens concluded in the article. … — Emphasis Mine
While I wouldn’t wish Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (“PTSD”) on my worst enemy, I do not consider Mancow to be my “enemy” and to suffer the same fate as Mr. Hitchens in the aftermath might actually prove to be a public service. Conversely, I can only wish Mr. Hannity would carry out his own promise to go through the same thing so the Republicans out there will stop laughing at this torture method as if it’s nothing more than a joke. I’m not holding my breath on that one though.
While we’re at it, it would be nice to see former President Bush, former Vice President Cheney, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Donald Rumsfeld and currently unemployed former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales waterboarded before We, The People on live T.V. for no less than one minute apiece followed by quick interviews as they wriggle in their stained Depends adult diapers. But that’s just MOI.

My “faves” -slash- “must reads” of today’s Blogospheres react: Andrew Sullivan of The Daily Dish: “Another would-be Hannity gets waterboarded for a few seconds. And he sees what it is…“; Our good friend Joe Gandelman of The Moderate Voice (Joe’s got both videos — The Hitchen video and the Mancow vid); Our good buddies at Drudge Retort are actively discussing the topic as we speak; John Cole of Balloon Juice wishes Hitchen luck when he boldly proclaims “This (his nighmares) too shall pass”; Our friends at The Raw Story are in deep discussion as well; My twin bruthah from anuthah muthah and former GTL co-columnist Matthew O’Keefe of Papamoka Straight Talk ads his (MUST READ) two cents into the mix as well…

Awesome post bro and the fact that this issue is the mantra of the GOP that it is not torture only lends to the Dem mantra that these people were in fact monsters in charge of a runaway American government. Mancow just negated everything the GOP is preaching.
Happy Memorial Day weekend to you and your family and don’t forget to say a prayer for those that fought and died for what America is really about. Truth, justice and not torture.
Well said, bro — and same to you, yours, your readers and the same to mine and our readers here at The GTL
Much better picture by the way. The other one was horrible. No offense bro.
By the way, I featured your post in my article on this same story. Great post my friend. Awesome.
Yer frickin’ nuts if you think that Hitchens is a “far right winger”. Your article can be right about everything else that you wrote but to call Hitchens a right-winger shows a deep lack of imagination, not to mention that your investigation into anything Hitchens said or wrote didn’t go much farther than looking at the comments section at Huff Post or Kos. For the record, Hitchens:
1) Is an extreme atheist, and picks fights with every religious nutball he can, ranging all the way from the Iranian mullahocracy to the supporter of Jerry Falwell to Mother Theresa.
2) Despises fascists and nearly got himself killed in Beirut picking a fight with neo-Nazi street thugs.
3) Wants Henry Kissinger prosecuted for crimes against humanity for his policies in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Chile.
4) Supported the overthrow of Saddam precisely because of Saddam’s fascism and brutality.
5) Called for support and assistance for Iraqi trade unionists suffering under Saddam’s oppression and who were then targeted for extermination by Al Qaeda In Iraq, a call for help that was almost universally ignored by most left-wingers of any significance.
6) etc, etc, etc.
SOrry, but when you throw a label like that at someone with Hitchens’ pedigree you clearly don’t know waht you’re talking about.
MAT: Of course, I thank you very much for the kind words and the kind linkie-luv, brother. I finally changed my pic because I am only a Non-Commissioned Officer (“NCO”) in the USAF until the end of the month and I don’t feel as much of a need to cloak my likeness (as I often have, as you know, written angry and critical columns against my Commanders-In-Chief) although I shall continue to blog under an acronym
THANOS: Thanks for the so-called “correction”, however, you just PERFECTLY described a typical far-right Neoconservative in your so-called “defense” of Mr. Hitchen. Did you even realize that?
Just to make it clear, atheism does not disqualify one from being a right-winger. While the far right is typically Christian-ish, that doesn’t mean that you have to fall into that category to otherwise fit inside the far-right mold.
And while we’re at it, there are a great many Christians on the far left and even in the center.
Amen! One of my co-workers is a professed atheist and he’s so “Right”, he’s right there with Michael Savage…
If believing (as Hitchens does) in foreign intervention, on humanitarian basis or otherwise, is “neo-con” then the following figures are also all neo-cons:
1) Woodrow Wilson, for involving the US in World War 1
2) Samantha Power, for condemning the Clinton Administration for doing nothing to stop the Rwandan genocide
3) The Clinton Administration, for it’s involvement in Somalia and Kosovo
4) George Clooney, for demanding intervention in Darfur
5) FDR, for Lend-Leasing supplies and weapons to Britain long before the US entered into World War 2
6) JFK, for initiating America’s involvement in Vietnam
Whew! Not too many Christianist Repulsican demogogues or Jewish-American operatives on that list, is there?
This probably isn’t about much more than liberal ideologues finding the term “neo-con” such a useful all-purpose insult that they’re going to fight like crazy to keep using it. Which also means that they’re going to distort reality as far as they can just so they can label anyone who is clearly not a neo-con with the “neo-con” label. By this standard, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, and almost all of the Democratic legislators who supported practically all of Bush’s war measures are therefore also all “neo-cons”. So is President Obama for inching towards the possibility of revising incarceration procedures and banning torture but retaining Gitmo as the main center to incarcerate captured terrorists. Barack Hussein Obama NEO-CON! Nice box to rap yourselves into, fellas. How about you make things a bit easier for yourselves and leave this uniquely dopey manner of thinking to the likes of Limbaugh instead?
And, just to remain consistent, Christopher Hitchens is a neo-con in the same sense that Ann “Skeletor” Coulter needs to lose about 50 lbs of excess flab. You can stroke or twist it any way you want to but it won’t ever make any sense.
For the most part, had you read the full definition, you’re right on the money with the Democrats you named as well deserving of the term “Neoconservative”.
It is one thing to help a country who is fighting for self-government out but quite another to FORCE self-government down their throat. Just because one has some liberal values doesn’t mean they aren’t neocons. Bill Kristol is a perfect example and as you also mention, former Republican activist and Wal-Mart Director Sir Hillary Rodham clinton is another near-perfect example. Look up those claims on Google and you’ll find them to be quite true
Rather than negating the position by many that waterboarding is not torture, Mr Muller reinforces it simply by his voluntary submission to the technique. Without the imminent threat of severe injury or death a practice cannot be considered a torturous act. No one would voluntarily submit to real torture. At least not beyond a last gasp effort at defiance. Certainly not to make a media statement.
This entire debate has become very tedious. The left wing has completely disregarded so much fact in attacking the Bush administration on this topic. Of the thousands of prisoners taken in the time since 9/11, three persons were submitted to this technique with the one receiving the most attention widely agreed to be among the most evil men on the planet. Does not simply the sparsity of usage of the technique demonstrate a thoughtfulness completely ignored by the left?
You certainly project a more positive vibe with your new pic!!
Appreche, Vego — I was drunk and the pic was taken on my camera phone a few days ago, bro
It would appear that drunkenness suits you:)
I’m curious, Mat, GTL, and others, if you’re so willing to accept Mancow’s assessment that waterboarding is torture (which it is not), then are you willing to accept his views on other subjects to be accurate as well???
Ah, I thought not. Just a bit of selective listening… He must be right on this because you agree with him, but the rest of his political views are wrong because you don’t agree. More typical liberal claptrap.
But to paraphrase a line from Ann Coulter…
Since all of you liberals want everyone who doesn’t believe that waterboarding is torture to be waterboarded, why don’t you all who believe abortion should be legal volunteer to be aborted??? That would be a good way to prove that you actually believe in your beliefs, rather than just paying it lip service.
Too late for that I guess. People only get aborted when they can’t speak for themselves yet. Too bad, how many volunteers do you think you’d get?
Some at least MINORLY great points F&B — I suppose my only answer would be to read our disclaimer where I clearly admit I can be a hypocrite and selectively biased at times, bro
I like the old picture better. It makes you look sinister and unpredictable. No time for smiling or drinking, we have a president who pays our fallen Veterans lip service on Memorial Day and then goes out golfing.
LMFAO FandB!!!! I know this might be causing internal struggles with you — you always enjoyed envisioning me as a very angry Lib who would break his face if he smiled and now you realize I could be the guy living next door to you
Sorry about that, bro ! ! ! (LMFAO and the same goes to Chuck who seems to be just as freaked out to see
KISSThe GTL “unveiled”…)
