ACLU’s Five Year Quest For Secret Bush Administration Torture Memos Ends Today With A Small Fraction Of Released Info

Meanwhile, The Obama Administration Chooses To Keep Perhaps The Most Damning Evidence Of Criminal Activity Under The Belt

George Bush and Dick Cheney are shielded by Obama in the ACLU freedom of information act securing of the Bush Cheney torture wiretapping and datamining violations of the Geneva Conventions and our 4th Amendment civil liberty against unlawful search and seizureLooks like the Bush Administration version of the Department of Justice’s (“DoJ” for acronym “freaks”) subdivision called the Office of Legal Counsel (“OLC“) is getting a break from Team Obama for their unconstitutional, criminal activity against We, The People under the so-called “Executive protections” granted under the USA Patriot Act. Cough it up, President Barack Hussein Obama, for the good of this country and your bosses — in other words, We who took a gamble and elected you to office, Sir.

This isn’t so much about torture from my point of view — torture is bad and we as a nation are better than that. Nope, this is more about the infringement by the President “Surge” W. Bush Administration to bypass our 4th Amendment Civil Liberty against unlawful search and siezure as spelled out CLEARLY in the United States Constitution. Then again, why should I be suprised President Obama would wish to keep THOSE files in “secret” status when we’re talking about the same guy who joined the rest of the crooked misguided politicians who went out of their way to ensure telecom immunity for those carriers who illegally cooperated with Bush Administration officials in bastardizing our 4th Amendment while he was still a lowly Senator? I suppose I shouldn’t.

On the other hand, the American Civil Liberties Union (“ACLU“) isn’t giving up quite yet

“… Some of these memos have become public through leaks to the media and through the ACLU’s litigation under the Freedom of Information Act. But most of them are still secret.

The Obama administration should release the still-secret memos. …”

AMEN.

Look, this isn’t about tossing the Cheney-Bush team into the clink at The Hague as far as I’m concerned — it’s about restoring law, order, and those once “Equal But Separate Powers” amongst the three branches of our government again along with ALL of OUR civil liberties confirmed in the Constitution being restored. I would like to see President Barack Hussein Obama release those (STILL) “secret” memos and say “NEVER AGAIN, MY FELLOW AMERICANS — NEVER! The Executive is just one of three EQUAL but EQUAL branches under the Constitution of our Founders.” without a teleprompter on live television…

On the other hand, I’m definitely not holding my breath on that one, but it’s okay to wish, isn’t it?

I don’t understand why he doesn’t release it. It’s obvious that President Bush went against a lot of America’s rights. He made us believe in fear so that he could get the bills he wanted passed. It’s wrong and I’m glad he’s gone, but I just don’t understand why President Obama won’t release the information.

    • e business corporate

Great post. Glad that you are posting opinions even controversial ones here. About bush well ya he crossed most of the american rights

    • Girardia

Those pictures are exactly what I want, exactly what is needed, and exactly what is right, especially if it shows them on the way to their execution (after a fair trial of course). Hang the filthy lying, cheating, thieving, murdering warmongers. And if Obama doesn’t go after ‘em I say hang him too.

    • Fraidykatt

Let me point out that the left has been very active in defining the debate and determing what is and what is not torture. I have read those memorandums.

Good plan. Try those lawyers who gave legal advice on this subject. From what I was able to ascertain they went out of their way to define how to broach this subject and to stay within the parameters of the law.

But that is an aside. Simply put……..Go ahead Obama…..Try those lawyers. When your done and you’ve set a new prescedent that we can all sue our lawyers for giving bad advice or advising us to really break the law then perhaps all those lawyers will join the GOP.

Good plan let. Go after one of your staunchest PAC’s. I like it.. Come on Obama. I see your torture memorandums and raise you illegal budget deficits. Dont worry I got more illegal activities in my pocket to throw at you when you pull a JIMMY CARTER on us and continue to go to your internet hackeys.

    • Fraidykatt

OH no I called Obama on his bluff…….does that make me a right wing terrorist too?

Or just an extremist because I dont happen to believe that the lefts definition of torture should be applied cause if it is then all those prisioners in our penitentaries will most likely be suing us next.

    • Girardia

Since the people incarcerated for drug posession and other victimless crimes are simply political prisoners they probably should be suing us just for being in there.

Jacob: “I just don’t understand why President Obama won’t release the information” — Because he is doing things too. Things he doesn’t want We The People to know about. Most liberals can’t see it though, yet, because of the Kool-Aid induced fog most Obama worshippers are afflicted with.

I’m with Fraidykatt – Bring it on liberals. And as soon as Obama is no longer President, the conservatives will go after him just as viciously and irrationally as the left wingers have tried to go after the Bush Administration.

Of course the most important point is that if the Bush Administration had ACTUALLY engaged in real TORTURE, or if they had ACTUALLY engaged in truly ILLEGAL wire-tapping, etc., Obama and his cronies WOULD be going after them.

    • Girardia

There is nothing irrational about wanting the president to follow the laws of this land whose constitution he swore to protect, of this world that he should be forcibly removed from, of the Bible he claimed to follow, of the Lord he claimed to worship, of the heart which he apparently had not, and of common sense which would lead any intelligent individual to dismiss the possibility that torture would result in anything but negative consequences. Grabbing someone without warrant, keeping them in prison for years upon years without charges or trial, depriving them of sleep, starving and freezing them, waterboarding them, and beating the crap out of them is torture and anyone who says otherwise is a despicable piece of s4it! At this point that not only includes the previous administration but apparently the current one as well. Unfortunately, Obama feels he may need these “rights” some day down the road, which is both disgusting and frightening.

    • Fandb

OK Girardia, “Grabbing someone without warrant, keeping them in prison for years upon years without charges or trial, depriving them of sleep, starving and freezing them, waterboarding them, and beating the crap out of them is torture and anyone who says otherwise is a despicable piece of s4it!” – First, all those things didn’t happen. Second, you don’t get to define torture for the rest of the country – its above your pay grade.

    • Girardia

Riiiiiiiiiiiight, and the holocaust was made up by the Jews, then they made up the myth that Stalin had dissidents executed.

” Grabbing someone without warrant, keeping them in prison for years upon years without charges or trial, depriving them of sleep, starving and freezing them, waterboarding them, and beating the crap out of them is torture and anyone who says otherwise is a despicable piece of s4it!”

Except for the waterboarding, you are describing what O-BOW-mas hero “Honest” Abe did. Hell, Abe approved of kindnapping women, children and old men and making them disappear – whole towns of them. All non-combatents. And who knows how many thousands were starved to death by the policies put in place by O-BOW-mas hero.

Yeah, He isn’t going to do a damned thing, because He wants his NationaleZivilSicherheitskraft to have free rein when they start rounding up us ‘right wing t’rrists.’

    • Girardia

Joe-you are correct sir, unfortunately. Yeah, that Honest Abe was a pretty rough dude. Good thing I’m a left wing extremist, at least until the pendulum swings again.

    • Girardia

Meaning it’s good for me until the pendulum swings, not that my opinions are pliable and will shift to the right when political opinions eventually do once again.

    • Doomed

Since the people incarcerated for drug posession and other victimless crimes are simply political prisoners they probably should be suing us just for being in there.

This pretty much sums up the entire argument of both sides. He who gets to define the debate gets to make the rules. That is why the left has struggled so valiantly to make what the Bush Admin did into torture.

The right just forgot to fight for what they believed in because the facts were so unclear because they were essentially classified that the right had no ammunition. Had I been Bush I would have released that memorandum myself in 2005 and let the debate begin.

At Civil War reenactments between battles, when on the gunline talking with the public, I would ask people “What do you think about a president who (list of Abes predations)” And woudl get back “Oh, I don’t like Bush”

To which I would blink, look puzzled ,and ask who Bush is, and tell them that their Federal president “Honest”
Abe was doing all those things. Of course, I also ask the guys who portray Honest Abe “Hey! When are you going to release Valandingham?” which usually gets a grimace and silence. Yeah, compared to Barrys hero, Honest Abe, Bush is a choir boy. Just ask the Roswell GA ladies.

    • Girardia

Doomed-If you were Bush then you’d be in prison right now!

LOL – go to Youtube, search “fresno night fire” and you will find some. Also search “cannon volly” and you will come up with several. Oh! And “duncans mills” there is one “fire by file” mine is the 7th gun to fire in that – hell, here is the link for that one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONpMTGOnCBU

Geez buddy, MY copy only has 3 branches of government. I think you’re working from the FRENCH version. ;-)

Perhaps he was including our fair and balanced media.

LMFAO Chuck & G — I kept looking and looking for that typo and I swear I spent ten minutes before I finally saw it :-)

No problem buddy, at first I thought it was a reading comprehension test. 
Just so you know, this is another area where you and I are virtually harmonious. There is no excuse for torture. Period. Not only is torture absent any moral underpinnings, it is a tool of the weak and powerless. In that, the Left must shoulder its share of the blame. If the United States had a real and pointed policy of immediate and severe retribution against foreign offenders, there would be no need to extract “actionable” information. Simply put, our policy should be that those that harbor and abet individuals or groups that harm the United States will meet with the same punishment as the actual offenders.” Wait a minute”; you say”That is our policy”. True enough, but we enforce that policy with all the gravitas of the “use a new plate at the buffet” rule at Denny’s. Considering 19 of the 20 9/11 cretins were Saudi, what serious action was taken? I suppose not bowing constituted “forceful action”.
How’s this for a compromise on torture. The Right will draw in its fangs and support treating WOT prisoners like we would any other combatant. In return the Left will stop acting like a 7 year old Girl Scout, and support bring the full weight of Uncle Sam down on whoever these folks can be traced to. If the Left would let us practice a little “Let God sort ‘em out”, there would be no need for us to do the sorting.
