Obama Plan Torques Off Disabled Veterans With Their Hands Out For Government Assistance Due To Injuries Suffered While Defending The United States In Uniform While Under Signed Contract
I was never a big fan of socialized medicine anyway and that is exactly what the VA is, so maybe this is a good idea President Obama has conjured up after all — an ingenious plan (U.S. Newswire) to force disabled American veterans who can still move their arms to pick up a phone book and those who can still walk to stroll their happy butts on down to their nearest private insurance company (someone like AIG, for example) and purchase a policy.
In the unlikely event they are successful in landing a private health insurance policy, the Veterans Administration would present a bill each month to the private insurance carrier and after the wounded warrior has paid his deductable in FULL from those huge “gub’mint” VA checks they receive. President Obama insists this move will save U.S. taxpayers no less than $540,000,000.00 (US Dollars) annually. Can we say “brilliant“?
Of course, The American Legion’s leader is whining about it. Commander David K. Rehbein left the Oval Office clearly disappointed in President Obama’s staunch refusal to hear any of the Commander’s lame arguments such as “But — but — working vets who do have insurance will max out their policies and their families will not be covered, Mr. President!” “Wah! Talk to the hand.”, says Mr. Obama. “But — but — this country has always made a promise and given an OBLIGATION to those who serve and become casualties of war, Mr. President!” Same reaction as above from the president. “But — but — who’s going to hire these wounded warriors, Mr. President?” “Not my problem, this will save taxpayers lots of money.”, says the president. Way to go, President Obama — this wounded warrior welfare (“WWW“) has gone on quite long enough…
After all, I knew exactly what I signed when I deployed to “The Desert” in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (“OIF”) and suffered a shoulder spur, maddening tinitus in my ears and my funnest one, PTSD. I hereby revoke my claims — it’s time for myself and my fellow vets to take personal responsibility for signing up to defend our friends, families, neighbors and our fellow countrymen and women from Saddam Hussein’s deadly WMD’s as sold to us by our FORMER President Cheney and his sidekick, “Surge” W. Bush.

Other bloggers chime in (“Must Reads” — ALL of them in their entirety): Don Surber (Right) of The Charleston Daily Mail covers the issue in his “Just Ask Me” feature; Ed Morrissey of Hot Air (Right) brings up one helluva point; The Lonely Conservative (Take a wild guess?) says this is a “slap in the face” and Protein Wisdom @ Pajamas Media (Right, of course) is trying to make the point that Democrats like to PUNISH veterans because they largely vote Republican (??? — citation needed); Jules Crittenden @ Pajamas Media agrees President Obama is anything BUT for socialized medicine after all; BlackFive is also rallying the (former?) troops … (Where are my fellow Liberals? I thought it was THEY who fought for the vets?)
UPDATE: I KNEW I could count on my “twin brutha from anutha mutha”, fellow Liberal (capital “L” on purpose) and former GTL writer, Matthew O’Keefe, who not only joins me in chewing some Obama butt on this issue, but vows to KEEP on chewing. He “STOLE” my photoshop but that’s okay, we Liberals feel “entitled” to take anything we wish for our own agenda anyway, remember? Mi Photoshoppa-TU-Photoshoppa, bro!
Now, where are the REST of my fellow libs? We’re still waiting.

And here is a liberal whining about it too. This idea is bad, dumb, so far off the wall it fell in the cess pool. Evidently Obama has never read the fine print on private health insurance. This is rank. I mean, our vets are used to getting screwed over but this is as bad as trying to deny full disability pay to a lot of our vets by saying being blown up by a roadside bomb didn’t count as warfare.
I’ve got a great idea; if we can’t afford to keep our commitments to our vets well, hell, then let’s just stop war. No war, no vets, no money overrun.
Gloat, FandB, gloat. You deserve to on this one.

[...] can argue with that? The Gun Toting Liberal can…dripping with disgust and sarcasim of [...]
I’m right there with ya bro and I stole your picture for a post. I’m an honest criminal but I did link back to your site for it. This is an important issue that mega liberals like me need to fight against. You don’t ask a man or woman to risk their lives for this nation and then give them a bill for healthcare when they get wounded.
Oh, and I’m claiming fraternal lineage on why I had authorization to steal the picture too! See ya in court bro and Happy St Patricks Day to ya.
I disagree that it is socialism and I disagree that it is welfare. The men and women who have been disabled while serving this country as members of the armed services deserve much better than they receive even now under the current VA, not less.
What message is Ubama sending to the troops that are deployed right now? This is really becoming Jimmy Carter all over again.
But on the positive side, at least Ubama is planning extensive St. Patrick’s Day partying at the White House.
So, why didn’t Ubama ever join the military??? He tried, but they wouldn’t take him, because he’s not a U.S. citizen !!!
Nothing like the smell of “Hope and Change” in the morning.
I am a 100 percent disabled vet. I get Social security disability as well.
So am I supposed to find a health care provider and pay them how much a month to insure myself and my family?
I have almost no life insurance other then the 10,000 dollars the government gave me for free. No one will insure me because of my disabilities. Are they going to take that away too?
I am a welfare case. I believe in social nets or else I would be on the street unable to work and my only hope would be what cardboard box I could shuffle in tonight. Without handouts from the government I am nothing. I would have nothing and I would have no where to go.
Are they going to take that away too?
Obama can find hundreds of billions for AIG and all those big bankers, but nothing for the vets.
Main street gets all the fancy speeches and promises, while Wall street gets all the money.
How many days till the next election?
They deserve a lot more than they’re getting….and they darn sure deserve medical care…congress members get free care for life after one term in office!
Dayum!!! Great commentary and Chuck, you should be ashamed of yer bad sef’ bro!!!! LMFAO!!!!
Groy, be reasonable, congress is a dangerous job – you could get a papercut, or break a nail. Or if you’re a democrat congressman you could get herpes, or AIDS.

Obama Veterans Health Care Plan…
The Obama administration is ushering in the largest expansion of government control of our personal lives in the history of this country. Our national debt is approaching $11 Trillion, an out of control, record breaking debt that is reaching the strato…
I am a disabled Vet and have researched all of this and find alot are going to extreme on what it is, although i also disagree with it all.
The making vets get insurance is for those that work still, not those 100% disabled on medicare and Tri-Care for life like me. So it may be an efort to get vets to stop working, i don’t know, but that will work, and think disability claims in the VA are bad now? wait till this becomes reality. Every vet will go for the 100% level especially the “unemployable” clause that can be done. So by being “unemployable”, Obama can not mess with your VA pay and also you can use civilian docs and hospitals which i do. Medicare is used if you get state disability like vets should go for also.
A vet should go after EVERY benefit they can and i see it that Obama will make mor vets “unemployable”. Just go to the doctor and tell them that you are and keep trying to get it.
The VA will be so overwhelmed with claims for increasing the percentage of disability so also like me you can get retirement pay if you served 20 years or more.
So Vets, go to your local office and fight for your benefits and also write every congressman and your 2 senators.
My benefits won’t be affected, but thousands that work will.
Again, if you are 100% disabled with the “unemployable” clause, Obama can not make you get civilian insurance and also NO insurance company would touch you as Obama will find out too. He seems to go about things without researching the outcome.
His big problem is he speaks before he thinks which is why he needs a teleprompter for everything
Another undiscussed side to this idea: Fobbing care for disabled vets off on the private sector will place many in unemployment lines. Many employers won’t look kindly on extending health care benefits to combat vets with disabilities that require constant attention. Is the administration looking to shut veterans out from society? Is he trying to cut the military through the back door by ensuring that enlistment benefits are brought to a point that makes service more and more unattractive? Break out the mining equipment. Obama’s not merely hitting bottom, he’s digging.
Obama backed off on this issue today according to The Hill…

I find this supremely ironic. My daughter is an Iraq war vet,who voted and vociferously supported President Obama, yet she is now disabled due to a compressed disc suffered from humping her body armor and gear. The fact that our President even had to backtrack on this should shame every real American. If we had a real press instead of a lap dog for the Democratic party. this issue would have the populace storming the White House.
Granted that there was little to choose from in the last election, but this amount of hubris so early in a Presidency bodes ill for the Republic.
BTW…GTL
You know me, I’m going easy here on both President Obama and my daughter. You, however are being true to the reason right wingnuts like me love to come here. Sometimes being an American is just more important.
Thank you for the update, Mat…
Chuck, my brother from the “Right” — I believe you just gave me the best compliment I’ve ever had because it’s true — being an “American” is much more important than playing party poly-tix, which makes me proud to be an INDEPENDENT Liberal, not a Democrat, and there is a HUGE diff
from where to take money them on it!
if by him not where will not hire!
Mat, you know you shouldn’t post comments when you’re drinking…
