While I can totally relate to the concept of serving in a hostile-fire zone on active duty under a Commander-In-Chief whose legitimacy as president is “questionable” (remember the 2004 election?) I also understand when and how to keep my mouth shut tight and keep those stripes on my shoulder.
Apparently, Lt. Easterling doesn’t understand that concept and, of course, most deservedly so, will likely be tried for his crime and folks, it IS a crime for an officer in uniform to speak out in this manner toward his or her CIC. How do I know? I’ve been there, done that, and got the T-Shirt (get your own Proud To Be A Pro 2nd Amendment Lefty T HERE, by the way). Free speech in the military has its limits and this guy has got a screw or two loose, in THIS Airman’s not-so-humble opinion. On the other hand, the “LT” might have a great point after all — President Barack Hussein Obama was NOT born in America as he himself points out — he was born on a tiny little island in the Pacific by the name of “Hawaii”. He’s a freaking HAWAIIAN, for God’s sake. I get it. But that doesn’t mean it’s cool to lose your better judgment while serving in uniform…
For those readers who haven’t been acquainted with The Gun Toting Liberal™ blog long, I was blogging against my CIC for months while I was activated in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom but I had the common SENSE to blog anonymously and didn’t come out of my “military closet” until about the time Rush Limbaugh torqued me off with his “phony soldier” crappola — a clear violation of the Uniform Code Of Military Justice (“UCMJ”) I was willing to risk due to a few advantages I held over this guy at the time.
While I’m STILL in the U.S. military, serving as an Independent Ready Reservist (“IRR”) and could still be called to active duty at any given moment, and could STILL be held accountable for my anti-President General George Dubya Bush rants I’ve admitted to, at least I have 500,000 monthly readers (thank you ALL!) who’d love to see the U.S. Air Force call me to active duty again just to punish me for my crime. BRING IT ON!, I say. The LT. doesn’t have such a forum.
OOPS.

For someone who claims to still be part of the military, from your Reserve status to my Active one. I call bullshit on this altered image with wording that in my opinion seems as if it is some form of threat regarding his life.
But first. Hold on. I want to explain something that people can’t see or care about. And that is the fact that everyone does not join for *rank* purposes. Some. Have the call, to WANT to serve there country and not just for tuition benefits but because of Patriotism and the pride you have serving your country. Without asking for anything in return. Our job and oath is outlined for us. We defend the constitution on foreign soil and domestic at all costs. If we can die protecting it. Then our elected officials better damn govern by it. The blood of millions spilled for it. Because so many make the ultimate sacrifice just to uhold what they may view as just another document created by those who dont look the same way they do.
I have read more positive stories and support about detainees than the ones that have your back. So continue to bash us and continue to ridicule and demean and toss out UCMJ quotes by all means. This is not about our president. But the constitution. It will be upheld if it is being violated. Before the day I ever fail my country by disregarding the oath I took stating I will defend the Constitution in March of 1998. Will be the day I am no longer worthy to wear this uniform. I believe in the laws that govern this land and I will always support and respect of the position of commander in chief. I would rather be locked up in Levenworth.Because I will never and I mean ever compromise my integrity or moral compass. I will always do what is right. Because we are just as much as the part of the link that binds this country together. I believe in the laws that govern this country. So continue to alter pictures with hints of death. Continue to put down this Lieutenant. Because every damn blow they make as they attempt to drown him out when the left begins the attack. Someone might want to remember we never leave a goddamn comrade behind. I may not agree with him. But I damn sure will stand behind him AND his family. When the left becomes unhinged.

All Barry has to do to put all this to rest is to call off his high priced lawyers and produce his birth certificate. So easy to do. Such a simple way to make all the right wingnuts look like fools. Just show one piece of paper. So why is he spending all the money and effort to hide it? Why not make it go away? The more he stonewalls the more it makes it look like he has something to hide.
Kind of like is Civilian National Security Force that is “just as strong, just as powerful, just as well funded” as our entire military. Where the hell is the Constitutional authority for that? And what does he mean by it?

On this I have to agree with you. it is not up to Easterling to determine whether or not BHO is the legal CIC. That is up to the courts and BHO has been legally sworn in. He IS legally the chief.
There can be a number of reasons to refuse to follow an order in the military – e.g. the order is illegal because it is unconstitutional or it is against the military code. However, deciding on your own that the CIC is not legally in office is not one of them.
If you sincerely believe that BHO is not legally qualified to be POTUS, there are other avenues to pursue- court challenges, contributions to others bring court challenges, testifying in court, etc. Refusing to obey his orders while in the military is NOT one of those options.
I put this guy in the same category as those who would refuse orders because the believed Bush stole the election and was not legally POTUS. Don’t remember that actually happening, but those guys would have gotten tremendous support, both financial and legal from the left.

BTW – Rush NEVER used the phrase “phony soldier” in reference to anyone who actually was serving in the military. His “phony soldier” comment referred to someone who was PRETENDING to be a soldier. Something I would think real soldiers would frown on. I am surprised that GTL is glorifying a fake soldier, whose antics demeaned the uniform and everyone who rightfully wears it.

First off, thank you GTL for your service to our nation in our military for the decade plus you served. I salute you sir and I thank you for defending America.
We can all call this clown that refuses to serve his President treasonous. The military is to serve the citizen government regardless of political philosophy and you can ask any thirty year senior member in service. Those would be the people that actually know the place our armed services has in our nations government. They do not ask, they do not question, they just follow orders. And everyone below them will do so as well or face a military trial.
F&B, Rush Limbaugh did call them phoney soldiers and he also called them pretend soldiers. He was proven wrong by the truth in both respects. He is an ass and he is nothing but a brush beater to get the birds to fly so misinformed people can shoot them down.

The Hate Party can hate Rush all they want, but at least get the facts straight.
The “phony soldier” that Rush referred to was Jesse MacBeth who – despite his claims – never served in Iraq; was never an Army Ranger, was discharged from the military in 44 days and was NOT in the military when he made his rounds with the liberal road-show, never got the Purple Heart as he claimed, and he obviously NEVER witnessed all the war atrocities that he described to the all-too-willing-to-believe-anything-bad-about-the-US liberals who just ate it up.
So, tell me, what exactly is it about this guy that isn’t Phony?
And when the liberals who created this phony propaganda were caught in their LIE, they just dropped the story. No apologies, no setting-the-record-straight, nothing – they just walked away from their LIE like it never happened.

As an officer, this Lt. does not take an oath to the President, rather he swears to the Constitution – to this end he is not obliged to obey the Commander in Chief – indeed officers have been found guilty for following orders that didn’t comport with the Constitution in the past (I believe this was Little v. Barreme). To suggest that an officer is committing treason for refusing to follow the President is simply false.
That said, the question of whether President Obama is the President has been settled. To those who say that “all the President has to do” is present proof of his citizenship, I ask – to whom? And what is sufficient? What has been provided was deemed sufficient enough by the current Court that they denied cert in a challenge to his qualification to serve. That should be enough for an Officer in the United States Military, and should be enough for the rest of America. But it won’t be. Just like people have continued to complain that President Bush “stole” the election in 2000, there will be those who argue that President Obama is not “qualified” to be President.
Perhaps President Obama could end this by “just” showing his birth certificate to every American who demands to see it. But I don’t think he has any need to – he’s been thoroughly vetted already, and I doubt it would settle the “question.”

One last comment on the subject of Treason – Treason is defined in the Constitution – the only crime so defined. The definition reads as follows: “Treason against the United States, shall consist ONLY in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses tot he same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.” US Const, Art.III, Sec 3, Cl1.)
Now some may try to split hairs over the definition of “Comfort,” but I highly doubt the Framers had questioning the place of birth of the President as giving “Comfort” to an enemy.

I am ex-miliary and I understand the importance of following orders — what I don’t understand is why Obama is so afraid of exposing his past and why he will go to extremes such as hiring legions of lawyers to keep his secrets (whatever they are) — times have changed and you don’t know who is batting for who anymore but if I were active military today I would be damn concerned about taking orders from a guy that openingly dispises me and the constitution — call me a liar, call me an old fashioned conservative, but leadership is earned and so far I don’t see a damn thing coming out of Obama’s mouth that would make me snap to attention!

Obama and his Indonesian half sister Maya were both not born in Hawaii, but they’re registered in Hawaii, because their mother was American and used to live and studied in Hawaii.
Obama is American citizen through his mother but he was not a natural born in Hawaii. There are no Hospitals in Hawaii have his birth record. The Liberals don’t care about the US Constitution, and they would have not won if the Muslims in American didn’t support Obama.
