House Speaker Nancy Pelosi And Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Surprise!) Find A Way To “Feed The Pig”
Hey, who’d have ever thought the Congress and the Senate would find a way to agree on this new panacea (no, really, trust them — it is> to save this country from this recession full-blown depression? Apparently they did though, and now we’re just waiting for President Obama to place his John Hancock Abe Lincoln on it and whoa-lahh — just like a magic bullet, just give it a few months and believe it — Great Depression II is dead and gone…
A “snip” for you from The New York Times‘ David M. Herzenhorn and Carl Hulse’s joint collaboration (Yep — TWO “credentialed” MSM reporters — I’m still waiting for somebody to answer my age-old question of “Why does it always take TWO of these people to write a column in the Old Media?“):
It all sounds great, correct? At least to any middle-classed Liberal it should. Unfortunately, as they say — “The Devil’s In The Details” and even less fortunately, nobody but the rich folks up on Capitol Hill who have signed and/or will be signing to make this thing happen have made the so-called DETAILS available to We, The People. In the end, the package that Mr. Reid said had been agreed upon would pare back Democrats’ proposed spending on education and health programs in favor of tax cuts that were needed to win Republican votes in the Senate.
Senator Susan Collins of Maine, a centrist Republican whose role has been crucial, said the final package includes $150 billion in spending on infrastructure, including transportation facilities, and considerable tax relief. …”
Plus, and don’t get me wrong, for the most part I’ve been fairly happy with President Obama’s performance on many different issues thus far — BUT, whatever happened to that “Don’t worry, before I’ll sign anything into law you’ll get to read it in its entirety for five days and you can send me your opinions via the new WhiteHouse.Gov website” campaign promise? Oh, that’s right, he DID exclude “emergency legislation” in his campaign promise, but I think we can safely wait another five days, don’t you all? I don’t think that’s asking for too much leeway, do you? Oh, right — what was I thinking? If it’s not signed by midnight, the world economy will C-R-A-S-H. My bad.
After all, that package equates to a year’s wages from each and every “Average Joe American” taxpayer, roughly, and I would seriously think the details are OWED us in a case like this. Particularly now that we’ve seen President Bush’s TARP BURP (acronym for the Bush Ultimate Rescue Plan) has failed miserably when it was supposed to be the same sort of advertised “silver bullet” this one has been advertised as being. Yeah, I think I’m a little bit angry and “Left”, “Right”, “Middle”, or whatever you want to call yourselves — you should be, TOO.
While I’m optimistic, I’m also pessimistic and as an American Citizen, not only myself, but you all as well should be both, or at least one or the other. If you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for anything (unknown origination) as many say, including MOI (and yep — you guessed it — part French and unapologetic for it, too).

OH joy! All that pork! MMmm…I love good BBQ. Lots of time for it to smoke, too, why, this won’t be done for YEARS.
Oh,and on other fronts, looks like DC is on its way to statehood, the bill to give it a member in the House has passed out of committee. Wonderful.
Absolutely, Joe!!! This is a great moment in the Good Ole’ U. S. of A.! We’ve been saved!
I wish TARP would go away. I think some of the bankers are beginning to feel that way too.
I’ve been waiting for that five day window to view too. I don’t care if I agree with what Obama has signed or not, he should keep that promise, starting today.
Here’s a site on the stimulus that I found a couple of nights ago. It explains how certain items made it into the bill and is a breakdown on the Mayor’s wish lists. http://www.stimuluswatch.org/
