“Shotgun” Cheney Explains To Chris Wallace In Interview How The Constitution’s “Equal But Separate” Clause Doesn’t Apply To The Executive Branch During Times Of War
Andrew Sullivan of The Daily Dish sums the Q&A interview between FoxNews’ Chris Wallace and “Mr. Enron” thusly:
“… How can the suspension of all laws into the power of the executive branch in wartime be seen as a defense or protection of the Constitution? …”
(Snip!)
“… What Cheney has advanced is that the president has the right to dissolve the constitution permanently. That he has the right to commit war crimes with impunity. That there is no legal authority to which he is ever required to pay deference in a war that is his and his alone to declare and end. Now when you consider that, in Cheney’s view, these war-powers are limitless, and that war is declared not by the Congress but by the president, and can be defined against a broad, amorphous enemy such as “terrorism”, and never end, you begin to see what a dangerous man he is… “
Mr. Sullivan, of course, is criticizing The Sleeping Veep’s responses to some interestingly hard-hitting questions in the FoxNews interview of The Vampire the vice-president conducted by Mr. Wallace
The interview is an interesting but long read. For those who would simply enjoy a paraphrazed recap, I’d be happy to comply…

Dick Shotgun Cheney AKA The Sleeping Veep Faces The TOUGH Questions From FoxNews Reporter Chris Wallace And Passes With Honor...
CHRIS WALLACE: Mr. Veep, do you REALLY believe you are above the law?
SHOTGUN: Of course. I am the Vice President and I do hope you’ll capitalize that title, and as the Vice President of the world, I belong not only to one branch, the Executive Branch, which enforces the law, but also the Legislative Branch, which writes the law. Therefore, I am the most powerful human being in the world under the Constitution as I, myself, constitute a 4th “SuperBranch”. I not only legislate but I execute as well…
CHRIS WALLACE” But, sir… torture? Data-mining and eavesdropping on American Citizens without the approval of the FISA Court? Isn’t that stretching your so-called 4th SuperBranch powers?
SHOTGUN:That might be the case, Chris. On the other hand, we’re at war and when we’re at war against a military tactic such as “terr’r”, all of those rules go out the window and all Constitutional powers go out the window. I’m a patriot. Leave me alone, please. In times of war, only the Executive Branch and the Vice Presidential “Superbranch” are separate but equal. The Judicial and Legislative branches are subserviant to the former.
CHRIS WALLACE So, would you do anything different looking back on your eight-year term?
SHOTGUN Not a damned THING, bro. And how dare you even “go there”? Just what are you trying to insinuate? Like President Bush said recently, we must abandon free markets in order to re-install them. The same is true in respect to Democracy. We must sometimes suspend liberty, freedom and Democracy in order to retain these principles.
CHRIS WALLACE: Last but not least, Mr. Vice President; now that your eight years of service, in retrospect, would you have done anything different?
SHOTGUN: NOPE. I’m PROUD of my dedication to torture, wiretapping -slash- eavesdropping, the vast expansion of the the powers of the Executive and “Super” Branches and the declination of the powers of the Legislative and Judicial Branches. If these four branches of government were allowed to remain “equal but separate”, as per the Constitution during times of war, we’d all be speaking in tongues right now. Oh, and Joe Biden and Barack Obama SUCK.
CHRIS WALLACE: Ahem. Wow. I think that concludes our interview tonight with Vice President and sitting President of The Fourth Superior But Not-”Super” Branch of government. Back to you, Sean (Hannity).
WELL. Alrighty then. Now we have our answers.

I wass going to comment on this but not until after I read the interview. But after I read the interview I went to bed and pulled the covers over my head. Still didn’t feel safe.
