Unpopular Republican Party Weighs Their Unsuccessful 21-State Strategerie Against DNC Chair Dr. Howard “Scream” Dean’s 50-State Strategy
Don’t look now, folks, but the Grand Old Party; the party of “we hate elites”; is beginning to see the fallacy of their ways as rumor has it some GOP insiders believe it might be time to hand the reins of the RNC over to one of two of its own “elites”; Newt or Michael Steele as the party of “Bush” re-examines it’s message and strategeries (Source: Washington Times).
As I’ve written before, the largest problem with today’s GOP of late has been its habit of being “hell bent” upon reaching out to those who were seen at Juan Sidney McCain’s rallies chanting such slogans as “Kill him, kill him, kill him!” and that other fave, “He’s a terr’ist!” anytime the name “Obama” was uttered by one of those “Real Americans” at those gatherings in the “Real America” — all twenty-one representative states of the GOP’s and Sarah Palin’s “Real America”. Where has this strategerie gotten the GOP? Obviously, yet another huge landslide “L” in their column.
What do I mean when I use the word “elites” to describe Gingrich and Steele? The same thing Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, the latter’s “Dittoheads”, and other members of the “Religious Far-Right” mean when they themselves use the same word to describe somebody — a person who doesn’t go out of their way to avoid uttering those “G’s” at the ends of words ending in “..ing” and actually articulates their points of view thoughtfully.
By the way, do not get me wrong — there’s nothing wrong with leaving a “G” off the end of a word; having been raised in Alaska myself, I also share that same basic Palin -slash- Alaskan accent — the point is, with this breaking news, it’s obvious the GOP is realizing Doctor Dean’s inclusive, big tent 50-State strategy MIGHT just be a better strategerie than their current 50-Megachurch strategerie and rightfully SO (Source: NPR‘s 2008 Electoral Map).
The GOP was once thought of as “The party of Lincoln”. President Lincoln, by “Dittohead” standards, like Mr. Gingrich, was an “elite“. Does anybody remember the Gettysburgh Address? When is the last time anybody has heard a Republican President with speaking skills like ole’ Honest Abe’s? I’ll give you my own personal answer — President Bush himself; a Connecticut native who suddenly adopted that (so-called?) “Southern accent” nobody else in his family, including brother Jeb and Daddy George shared. Just for some fun, go to YouTube and pull up some of his “pre-governor of Texas” debates and folks, you’ll be hearing a “Connecticut Yankee” putting those “G’s” at the ends of those words versus whatever kind of accent that is GWB adopted well into his political career. Awesome. But, why? I think you can figure it out without my help…
Perhaps, the GOP has learned its lesson — the lesson that Patriotism is like bubblegum — it comes in MANY different flavors and can be seen in every grocery store in every county in all fifty states, or perhaps not. Should the latter be the case, click HERE to learn why the Grand Old Party will continue to get DRUBBED at the polls…
And I’m not yet convinced that would be a bad thing either.

Other blogger reax (just “Snips” — please read in their entirety)…
“Yes, that IS ex-Gov. Mike Huckabee making telephone calls to Republicans on behalf of his former campaign manager, Chip Saltsman, as Saltsman prepares to run for chairman of the Republican National Committee. …”
“Sununu!“
“… I’m partial to Newt just because he seems at times to be the only man left in the party with any new policy ideas… “
“… Steele would be an interesting pick… ”
(Snip!)
“… As for Gingrich, yea he’s interesting, but he’s so 1994.”
“… Is Newt Gingrich really the best choice for RNC chairman?”
“… As it is, the GOP is now just a regional institution, but it is not far from becoming a fringe party.”
“… a move by the RNC to take Gingrich as chair would be a retro-move for a party that needs to start thinking about a new set of faces and ideas.”

As a gun toting liberal myself, I am glad to have stumbled onto your page. It has pissed me off for years that the ridiculous right declares who is patriotic and who is not. Palin memorialized this by declaring that there were “Pro American” parts of the country. Obviously insinuating that there were “ant American” parts of the country. I love my country as much as the next man. Thanks for this blog; it is a much needed refuge out here in cyber-space.
All politics aside today. Thank you, fellow Airman, for your service.

Steve: And the same to you, my fellow Airman and all other military veterans out there. Even if we didn’t serve side by side, we served together
The Republican Elites are wishing to distance themselves from the religious bigots they attempted to woo; but, the religious bigots believe that they own the Republican party and will not let go of the ideal of what they think is the GOP.
I do not believe it will matter who is in charge of the RNC, the GOP leadership has done much to harm any one who is a former Republican to head back to the GOP camp.
Just like the Democrats are a coalition of different interests that are currently fairly united to achieve common goals, that’s what the Repuglican party was for the last quarter century, and after a generation or so of complete disarray will probably become once again. Hopefully neither side gives us a President as bad as W again. This country is strong enough to survive a loser in chief once during our lifetimes but twice, I don’t know.
You guys need to remember that the GOP still got 47% with a horrible economy and one of the most unpopular Presidents in history.
I’m an engineer by trade, so if the math tells you that you only need a 3-4% shift (or even less when you consider narrow electoral losses), you have to be very careful with whom you add and who you may alienate in the process of sewing your big tent. If the GOP loses social conservatives, they will need alot of fabric to take their place, eh?
How did those “big tent” guys (Gordon Smith, Christopher Shays for example) do in this election?
Steve
p.s.: enjoy the site as always GTL, keep it up!
Yeah, but if the Dems had run a white male they would have picked up a substantial number of right wing bigots and thusly the disparity between parties would have been exponentially higher.
And meanwhile the Independent Voter registration keeps going up. Do you think that these independent voters are trying to tell the two major parties something? Obama won because he got more independents than McCain.
So what do the majority of Repubs seem to want to do: return to 1994, go further right, keep up the name calling and divisive politics. The Republican party is no longer the conservative party, it is the religious right party. And 21 states supported it.
As our population keeps becoming more diverse it will be mandatory for any political party to reflect this diverseness in order to win. Not only are white repubs conservation but so are many people of color; but the Repub party is not offering them an open door. They have to meet too many litmus tests and even if they meet them, most times people of color still do not feel welcome. This was shown clearly at the Repyb convention this year where 97% of the delegates were white.
I agree with GTL, we need at least two strong political parties to help keep the politicans halfway honest. But maybe it’s time for three or even four major parties.
Or five.
Good points…I think money though drives alot of these independents. Hispanics, for example, are generally conservative on social issues. They went for Dems because on immigration and the economy. They don’t like abortion or gay marriage, for example.
The 1994 GOP had a vision for conservatism in fiscal matters, and they helped keep Clinton’s big spending plans in check – give Clinton credit for adjusting here as well – Then, Bush gets elected, they get both houses and they start spending like drunken sailors (no offense to drunken sailors).
I will likely vote consitution again in 2012, but I’m using the math as much as my conservative bias here. If the GOP decides to pee pee on social conservatives, they will have a tough road. It is easier I think for them to grab back fiscal responsibilty, and try to win a few hispanics. In addition, you can bet the enthusiam from blacks and young voters WILL fade.
Remember again, you only need 2-3%.
First off, it needs to be someone who doesn’t have problems with the mainstream media illuminati, of being seen as negative, because you have to run against them as well.
