Witch Hunt, Or Justice?
No-no-no, this cannot BE, friends — “Say it ain’t so, Joe!“. Sarah Palin was officially cleared yesterday of any wrongdoing by the McCain-Palin Campaign, so how can a bunch of Alaskans turn right around later that same day and claim our old friend, The Panamanian Psychic, got it wrong? I’m STUNNED.
From The Anchorage Daily News:
Troopergate report: Palin abused power
By DON HUNTER, SEAN COCKERHAM and WESLEY LOY
A legislative investigation has concluded that Gov. Sarah Palin abused her power in pushing for the firing of an Alaska state trooper who was once married to her sister, or by failing to prevent her husband Todd from doing so.
The report by investigator Steve Branchflower was made public late this afternoon by a bipartisan 12-0 vote of the Legislative Council, which authorized the investigation. …”
(Snip!)
“… “Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda … to get Trooper Michael Wooten fired,” Branchflower’s report says.
“Compliance with the code of ethics is not optional. It is an individual responsibility imposed by law, and any effort to benefit a personal interest through official action is a violation of that trust. … The term ‘benefit’ is very broadly defined, and includes anything that is to the person’s advantage or personal self-interest.” …”
(Snip!)
“… Senate President Lyda Green said the report doesn’t speak well for the governor.
“The problem with power is that people pay attention to it,” the Wasilla Republican said. “And it’s very easy to get beside yourself and use it in the wrong way.
“And we do have to leave personal business at home,” she said. …”
Oh, heck — that makes three-in-a-row our Panamanian Psychic has gotten wrong now for those of us who are keeping count. The old codger, Bless his heart, Señor Juan Sidney McCain of Arizona Panama, now has his hands full if he didn’t already. Never mind the FACT I’d have done the exact same thing Sarah’s hubby, Todd did in the same exact circumstances, but then again, I don’t reside in a governor’s mansion glass house either, of course.
Anyhow, now that this investigation has concluded, I predict the phrase “Troopergate” will simply fade away into becoming nothing more than another buzzword like “Keating Five” has for Panama John, or “Jeremiah Wright” or “Bill Ayers” has for Barry Obama. In other words, rightly or wrongly, I don’t think the People are THAT concerned anymore about “ethics” in Washington — they’ve already given up on any hope of seeing “ethics” and “ethical” people assuming power over them and that’s a sad-but-true statement, I am afraid.
Anyhow — Popcorn time again.

I think the ultimate determination of how *bad* her complicit behavior was will depend greatly on how much any one individual wants to defend her.
What ultimately individuals will need to decide is – do we want to elect into office an individual who has been found to have abused executive power in the wake of nearly eight years of executives suspected (at best) of abusing executive power? And, more to the point, does this impact one’s view of Senator McCain’s vetting/decisionmaking process and his fitness to command?

Simply she is a big huge Boo Boo (October Halloween pun intended) that was made by McCain. The new findings where she has used taxpayer money to attend (by plane) church events and espouse her faith and how it will be used in office alone makes her unfit for any elected service. Sort of like Bush. Don’t any Repubs believe in the separation of church and state any more?

No, Republicans are absolutely certain they have the one true interpretation of the one true religion and that all their policies are right and so no matter how much corruption it takes to do good and no matter how much lying it takes to cover up that corruption, they have been doing it all for God, and if you disagree you are an unpatriotic sinner, you damned liberal scum!

You don’t speak for republicans girardia, and you really don’t know them very well. Your “interpretation” may be humorous, but it is far from reality. But as a girl I knew in college once told me, reality is just an escape for those who can’t handle drugs.
All the lefties ever do is try to bash McCain and Palin. I’ve never heard any of them talking about why anyone would want to vote for their guy, only why people should be afraid of the other guy. Some of you should enlighten all the “righties” with the good works of Obama… like all the good he did when he was “community organizing” with ACORN, or his stellar legislative successes, or his experience as an executive in some capacity, or his in-depth foreign policy experiences, or how he spent his youth experimenting with drugs so he would have a basis for understanding drug abusers better, or how he is planning on reducing crime by making gun ownership illegal, etc, etc. Please, enlighten us. (Please, no YouTube videos, most righties don’t have time for that drivel, they’re too busy supporting the economy and creating jobs.)

Sorry, this is a bit off topic, but what do you think about this?
While it hasn’t been officially confirmed, as an Obama supporter, I am very worried.
Can someone instil some hope in me. ?

Thanks Jerry. Dang, the GOP keeps coming up with all sorts of stuff, don’t they!

Fandb, what is the difference between a website with factual information (or drivel) and a Youtube video? Could it be that you’re intimidated by a video because you can’t skim-read it? Not to be mean, but that’s the only think I can think of that differentiates a multi-paragraph article vs a video.

ticklebug – seriously, I read at a reasonable rate and I try to understand everything I do read, but when someone posts links to 40 or 50 minutes worth of video, well, I just don’t have time in my life to watch it all. Also, MOST of the information on YouTube is garbage, some of it is entertaining but as a news source it is USELESS. (imho).
As an example, Jerry posted links a few weeks ago that claimed the government would declare Martial Law on October 1. Needless to say, I didn’t see any tanks rolling down my street yet. In other words, all the videos on YouTube declaring the declaration of Martial Law were garbage.
I see no one has taken me up on my challenge yet.
I can only interpret that as admission by the Obama supporters that he doesn’t bring any positive qualities or accomplishments to the party.

Jerry – I spent the day in discussions with two people from a German manufacturer with the intent to transfer about 2-3 million worth of business from Germany to the USA. This will result in the creation of 8 full time jobs in this country. That’s MY definition of supporting the economy and creating jobs. Any more comments Jerry?

I see your definition of supporting the economy…I hope it happens, and I don’t have to see it to believe it if it does occur.
Back to the martial law matter for a moment, if your definition of martial law existing is based on tanks rolling down your street specifically, then that’s absurd…I suppose you think what Rep. Brad Sherman has to say isn’t credible:
Rep. Brad Sherman Martial Law
Rep. Brad Sherman says Congress threatened with Martial Law C-Span:

Spinning lies about a declaration of martial law is fear mongering, plain and simple. That’s why the democrats have become the party of hate. All they can do is spew venemous lies about republicans but are utterly incapable of citing any virtues or redeeming qualities possessed by their own candidate. So sad.

Fanb: I think the argument goes as follows: “he inspires hope”. How the hell do you inspire “hope”? What a bunch of lemmings! Most of them live by the philosphy (whether they admit it or not) that in order to feel better about yourself you have to tear down others around you. Instead of making a buck yourself, you take 10 cents from 10 other people and you have a buck. If you feel dumb then surround yourself with dumber people instead of picking up a book and learning. If one school is a success and another is a failure you bus students from one to the other and now you have two schools that are failures. In that way the Government can come to the rescue. The reason Sarah Palin has pissed them off is because she is a doer and not a talker, she lives her life by her values and doesn’t preach to others while doing the opposite, and she’s an acheiver and not someone that talks a good game. She demonstrates personal responsibility instead of lecturing about it and it scares the shit out of those lemmings that have to be instructed to feed, cloth, and school your own kids. There are still a few of us out there that recognize a natural born leader and not a manufactered one.

Dave, it’s a known fact that liberals make more money than conservatives do. So, your argument that all libs want to do is mooch off of the conservatives is ridiculous.
And where in the world do you get your information about Palin? Looks like you’re reading about Palin with your goggles on. o_O
2:18 am on October 21st, 2008 22
Dave, you need to come back to reality. You are way the hell out there. Nothing you’re saying makes any sense at all.
