As an EXTREME opponent to many of Sarah Palin’s political points of view, I, as a man who grew up in the Great State of Alaska, alongside of both Sarah and Todd Palin BOTH as former classmates, I say bash extreme-right-wing ideas all you want, but this is just over the TOP:

“So Sambo beat the bitch!”
This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.
According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively.
“It was kind of disgusting,” Lucille, who is part Aboriginal, said in a phone interview after admitting that she is frightened of being discovered telling folks in the “lower 48” about life near the North Pole.
Then, almost with a sigh, she added, “But that’s just Alaska.”
Racial and ethnic slurs may be “just Alaska” and, clearly, they are common…”

Okay, guess what — before I get back to some REAL “news” — IMPORTANT “news”? As an Alaskan at heart, even if I’m currently south of The Mason-Dixon Line, this deeply offends me, and I’m a Liberal with a capital “L”, for Christ’s Sake. Fair enough; this guy with two first names who calls himself a “reporter” does bring up some interesting “he said, she said” stuff, but then he goes and prints a bunch of crappola such as the above, and allows it to stand based upon all these folks who are not willing to divulge their names, that we Alaskans are a bunch of bigotted, racist CREEPS. No, Sir — that’s not “just the way Alaskans talk” and I cannot believe somebody would call this “journalism”.
And again, do NOT make the mistake of assuming this point of view by MOI is being expressed as an “offended former classmate of both Todd and Sarah Heath-Palin’s” either. She may very well have utterred the classless, ALLEGED “Sambo” remark, hard to prove without NAMED witnesses, of course, but that doesn’t mean all Alaskans call black people “Sambo”. One more piece of “food for thought” before we move onto the REAL “news” of the day — it’s hard to believe Sarah Palin hates Eskimos when she married one and gave birth to a bunch of ‘em herself.
I mean, COME ON, PEOPLE — go after the issues instead of (now) Alaskans in GENERAL and a bunch of third-party allegations from friends of friends of friends of the Palins, for crying out loud. The lady’s (and her boss, Señor J. Sidney McCain For Él Presidenté’s) political views are so extreme and “way out there“, what need is there to print a bunch of damned RUMORS and call it “journalism”? Now, back to the news — the “news” we ALL should be paying attention to in this eleventh hour across the globe…
Bush-Cheney, Incorporated is at it again. Whenever the media and blogosphere is involved in a “feeding frenzy” in “tabloid-land”, you had BETTER take a close look at what the Big Oil Brothers in the White House are up to — oftentimes, it’s criminal behavior, and it’s quite possible that is what they are up to in the waters of Georgia right now, attempting to provoke a war with Russia without Congress’ approval (Source: TimesOnline – UK). I thought such behavior by the Executive and (Cheney’s) “Fourth Superbranch” was unconstitutional? Wagging “tail”, meet “dog”.
Of course, it’s “picture perfect” to a Republican in Washington — provoke Russia to the brink of war, fast-forward that Doomsday Clock to 11:59 PM, then in steps Barack Obama to say “We must negotiate” while Señor J. Sidney rachets up the “We’ll kick their butts if we have to” rhetoric. FEAR — that’s what The Sheeple fall for every damned TIME, folks. The “scarier” and more “evil” McCain-Cheney-Bush, Incorporated makes the Russians look, the more likely we are to vote for a “tough guy” and so-called “war hero” to take ‘em on. “So-called”, you ask? Yep — just wait ’till the NEW “Swift Boating” gets started. Call yourself a “war hero” and you get what you deserve, as John F. Kerry found out himself a few years back.

“Little Black Sambo,” the story from which the derogatory term originates, was not about Africans. The story clearly states that Sambo outsmarted tigers. There are no tigers in Africa, however, there are tigers in India, where Sambo would have lived. It’s as misplaced an insult as referring to Europeans as “Yankees.”

I like that you have said something aboutthis because not enough is being said right now and this is a big prob. You touched on part of the prob in that it will give McCain a chance to fear monger though I dont know how much that will help. the prob for me is the implications of pissing off Russia. From all accounts we already are, and we are more than likely giving weapons to the georgians. Are we all forgetting the cold war and the fact that Russia has plenty of nuclear weapons. They may not be as “up to date” as ours but I bet they still work
