Media Questions Señor J. Sidney McCain’s Decision-Making Ability With Palin Pick
Okay, before I get into this, FIRST — allow me to remind our readers and those who may just be stumbling upon this site for the first time — I have NOTHING bad to say about the Palins. I can’t say anything bad about them because; well; I’ve known them both (Sarah AND First Laddy Todd) on a personal basis and I personally hold sincere respect for both the Palin and Heath families. While we obviously do not agree on everything, I find myself in a bit of a spot due to that fact, which means I can’t, in good consience, make funny little photoshops of Sarah. But hey — that’s A-Okay. I’ll just keep doing what I’ve been doing for months on this site and that is going after her new boss — Señor J. Sidney McCain of Arizona Panama. Easy enough, right?
After all, that’s exactly what The Politico‘s Jim Vandehei and John F. Harris did today in their lovely “hit piece” (as some of their commentators have called it) questioning J. Sidney’s age, wisdom, judgment, age, wisdom, judgment and age in naming Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. As for myself, I’d have to say it is one of the FEW “wise” things I’ve seen the man ever do since I’ve been old enough to notice and pay attention to his antics.
I’ve seen the blogs and I’ve read the MSM accounts and all that “jazz”, of course. “She’s inexperienced”, they say. Well, that’s a “PLUS”, isn’t it? After watching the “pros” in action including OLD “pros” such as Señor Sidney himself, I’m not too damned impressed, are you? Amateurs cannot POSSIBLY screw this country up more than the so-called “pros” have, in my not-so-humble opinion. And folks, that has ZERO to do with my personal acquaintence with the Palins, it has to do with the current state of our nation.
And face it, you have GOT to appreciate a TRUE “maverick” Republican who goes and rounds up a bunch of G.O.P. CROOKS in her own state and sees to it they are indicted and on their way to share jail cells with roommates named “Bubba”. Unlike her boss, and like her politics or not (and I’m not exactly crazy about a large number of them), you’ve got to admit that’s pretty “maverick” of her. Who’s the REAL “maverick”? Sarah is. And that’s what Republicans were hoping to see out of Senator McFlipFlop, so they finally get “maverick” — if even by proxy.
No, I don’t see Ms. Heath-Palin robbing the Democrats of their “We Need A Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton Monarchy” base at all, NOR do I see her alienating the conservative base either. Well, I take that back — many Republican voting ladies MIGHT just have a problem with being told what they can and can’t do with their bodies on the abortion issue, but that’s a LONG shot and that remains yet to be seen, doesn’t it? Interesting thought though.
But, for the Love of God, please quit picking on the Palins and go after the flip-flops and misdeeds of Señor J. Sidney, a.k.a., “Panama John”. After all, it was HE who treasonously attempted to “modify” our 1st Amendment Civil Liberty to speak freely during the elections via his so-called McCain-Feingold “Election Reform”. It wasn’t his place; it wasn’t in his job description, folks. As far as I know, Sarah Palin has yet to commit treason; correct me if I’m wrong, please. And just because she happens to be a Republican doesn’t mean it’s only a matter of time although I can see why many might assume that after what we’ve seen Capitol Hill Republicans will do on a regular basis when one turns one’s back on them.
Again, this is McCain versus Obama; NOT Biden versus Palin; although I can’t wait to see the debates between the latter. I’m guessing Joe Biden will find a way to eat her lunch with “kids gloves” — he’s too seasoned; too “experienced” (that word again). On the other hand, I’ve said it before; I’ll say it again — sometimes I think it’s a shame both tickets aren’t reversed, or at LEAST the Grand Old Party’s ticket. Come to think of it, I believe I would enjoy seeing two “young, inexperienced political newbies”, i.e., Palin and Obama, going at it for the White House. That way, we’d be assured we wouldn’t be getting stuck with another one of those “Old Pros” no matter the outcome; no matter whom we’d prefer to see in the Oval Office. And again — that would be a huge “PLUS”.
Okay, back to reality.

I can’t totally agree with you on hands off Palin, even if you do know them but I understand the reluctance to engage. Until Trooper Gate sorts itself out though she’s opened herself up to abuse of ‘executive” power charges if you get my use of the term executive. That makes her look like more of the same from the Panama John party and shouldn’t be ignored.
It IS a rather tough spot for me, L/C, which is why the comments section is here
whats John McCain trying to prove that he can make history as well. If I had to choose a man of good character it certainly wouldn’t be McCain wouldn’t trust him as far as i could throw. Vote Obama
Palin has been in politics and has been surrounded by scandals since 1992.
Unfortunately from what I’ve been able to ascertain she is the one revealed the scandals and has gotten her a nick name.
From what I’ve read on this woman I think she shows a strong leadership and courage and is not afraid to take on the graft and corruption.
She is way more of an outsider then Is Barak Obama and 35 years in the Senate Joe Biden. The problem we might have with Palin as president is that she might fricken demand we balance the stupid budget!!!!!
How dare her!!!
Somebody tell me where to sign up for Predident school! McCain gambled big on this pick and he could have done alot better.
This was nothing more than a grasp at the disgrunteled Hillary Clinto woman voters and it was a slap in the face of all Liberal thinking woman. Was McCain thinking that this was a Vagina monologue thought process and just because you have one means you have to vote for one??? McCain talked to her just once and that was his definition of vetting the VP for a man that just turned 72 years old?
In some of the comments that I have seen on many sites including my own, the comparisson of Palin and Obama is a joke. Then again the comparisson of what is going on in America from McCain to Obama is a joke as well when the Senator from Arizona can not find the right house key for the residence he wants to sleep in today.
Pollster John Zogby: “Palin is not to be underestimated. Her real strength is that she is authentic, a real mom, an outdoors person, a small town mayor (hey, she has dealt with a small town city council – that alone could be preparation for staring down Vladimir Putin, right?). She is also a reformer.”
I personally am still doing homework on Palin but it seems the more smut being smeared on a WOMAN the more its making the Democrats look antiwoman with the treatment they gave Hillary and are now giving Palin.
I have not decided to support McCain/Palin and in fact was more likely to vote for Barr but this choice makes me give the GOP a fresh look because I do lean…..LEAN right.
Thank you.
Neocon, I must correct you. It isn’t “How dare her” it is “How dare she.”
As for the trooper issue, I agree that there seem to be unanswered questions there. But even if it shakes out that she did use her office to try to get a trooper who seems to have been a disgrace to the uniform fired, then fired the official who wouldn’t fire him, that seems to be the worst that can be found about her. Well, other than being pro-life, a devout Christian, a hunter, and a member of that EEEvil civil rights organization, the NRA.
I do have my doubts about McC for some of the same reasons Guns brought up – his involvement in the anti-civil rights McCain/Feingold Act (an act which the left LOVES by the way) and his luke warm almost support of the RKBA.
OTOH, I feel his is orders of magnitude better than Barry “Yeah, I’m Here” Obama. I don’t care if he has been anointed by Jesse and Al as the Messiah and has the imprimiture of the Clintons .
The facts are simple for 90 percent of all voters. There is no perfect candidate. There is no perfect vote.
You must vote for the party or person you best believes will fight for most of what you believe in.
If McCain will do that then hes your man. If Obama will do that then hes your man.
Don’t let the Neocon moniker fool you. Im a Reagan democrat who voted for Reagan twice, Bush Sr. Once. Clinton Twice and Al Gore. I did not vote in 2004.
Im pretty much middle of the road on politics. I dont care about social issues. The far left and the far right does. But those issues dont put food on my table.
My concern with her is her apparent abuse of power when she gets it. This is Cheney Gonzales and the justice Dept. all over again, just at a smaller scale because she was a big fish in a little pond. This is just a snippet from the Anchorage Daily news. Ultimately she was considered not guilty for wrongful termination by a Judge BUT that’s not the point. Her (ab)use of power is. The individuals below has openly supported her opponent in the election.
“Wasilla Mayor Sarah Palin fired the city’s police chief and the library director without warning Thursday, accusing them of not fully supporting her efforts to govern. Irl Stambaugh and Mary Ellen Emmons said letters signed by Palin were dropped on their desks Thursday afternoon telling them their jobs were over as of Feb. 13 and that they no longer needed to report to work.”
I hear you Neocon. I’m a fed up Dem. myself. My so-called representatives, DiFi, Boxer, Woolsey (actually, I just moved, I think it is Thompson now, I need to check again), have let me know, or people in their offices have let me know, that my views are neither wanted nor needed. I started my voting with Carter, voted straight party until the 90s when I started splitting my ticket.
Just about every “where do you stand politically” tests I take put me in the X ring, or at least the 10 ring. Pretty centrist. But, here in northern CA that makes me seem like a Bircher.
See she was within her rights to fire those people. Just as Alberto Gonzalez fired the attorneys was perfectly within the rights of the DOJ.
John Kennedy said it best. “The world is not a fair place and if you never expect to be treated fairly you will never be disappointed.”
There is an old axiom in small town politics. Keep your mouth shut and dont support anyone. Cause when they get in office they damn sure CAN fire you and most likely will IF you supported the other guy/gal.
People on the left wear their hearts on their sleeves and just dont understand that. To them its an igregious abuse of power. To realist it shows how stupid you were for being a political appointee and supporting the loser.
That is just the way it is. Its not abuse. Its politics. If you dont want to lose your job. Keep your mouth shut when it comes to supporting the wrong person. Notice neiter Obama, Biden, McCain or Palin have given up their day jobs.
You are right it is politics. I am just hoping for politics of a higher order rather than one that takes the position “I will because I can”. Even Mukasky said the DOJ had become politicized.
As for your post number 8 I agree with most of what you wrote, I do care about some social issues though fixing health care being one.
Last post for awhile. Heading to Texas to help with relief efforts down there.
I just could not pass this up though. 666. Who else could bring a hurricane to New Orleans the day that the GOP convention begins?
Talk about having your parade rained on……Lord have mercy. Obama has the power for sure.
Heh… the Anarchist, for sure… oops — I meant, “Antichrist” (sorry, FandB)
OK GTL. So you people are finally coming around to my way of thinkin’ eh?
Like others on this post, I am still evaluating the wisdom of the selection. But I still have quite a hangover from our 2 day long “Yea, He picked Sarah Palin” party.
It is really fun watching the Dem’s squirm and Spin. They all know that this pick was about as good a pick as there could be. So far, just about any bad stuff they can come up with on Gov. Palin applies equally to their Presidential candidate Barry (gee I blew my VP selection) Obama*. And all the dirt they have come up with so far, actually it’s more like dust than dirt, is completely trivial.
* (the antichrist)
Fandb I’m not so sure about more dust than dirt…see below:

Hey, Thanks Springer Fan – I’d say you pretty much defined what I meant by ‘dust’ and ‘trivial’ in a nice demonstrative and visual format.
No problem…Kay Bailey Hutchinson and Hillary approves the message as well.
What happened to the days of Ike, when generals were chosen to lead the free world. What happens if McCain crokes? I am afraid she will now be able to deal with the numerous global issues facing us. In fact, I seriously dont think she would even do well here in manhattan for a few days.
I hear ya Marc. There definetely seems to be a possible Nixonian pattern regarding Trust/Loyality and wicked streaks the more media starts peeling away the crap!
Anyways, I guess below you’ll find more dust; however, as we all know, even dust can start to pile up!

Wasilla Mayor Sarah Palin fired the city’s police chief and the library director without warning Thursday, accusing them of not fully supporting her efforts to govern. Irl Stambaugh and Mary Ellen Emmons said letters signed by Palin were dropped on their desks Thursday afternoon telling them their jobs were over as of Feb. 13 and that they no longer needed to report to work. Emmons has been the city’s library director for seven years.
