Was Barack Obama’s Suggestion To Properly Inflate Tires And Keep Automobile Engines Tuned Really As Funny As “Mr. I don’t even know how to turn a computer on yet” McCain Thinks It Was?
Some folks on the Right, including their fearless leader, Senator John McCain of Arizona Panama, are having a field day (Source: Time) over Barry Obama’s recent energy-saving fuel conservation “tips” — YouTube video here (new window).
First, a short “snippet” from the Time article regarding the latest antics of Señor McCain and a little bit of “edjumacation” as well:

First off, let’s not forget the fact that BOTH candidates — Barry Obama and Señor McCain — have “flip-flopped” on the offshore drilling issue. The former, more “grudgingly” so; the latter, more dishonestly so, but both men have made it crystal clear they would be capable of signing a bill into law allowing offshore drilling and that’s the important point. Oh, and just because the Señor from Arizona Panama was the FIRST to change his tune (no pun intended), it in NO WAY puts The Straight Talk “Flip-Flop” Express on the higher and mightier road, my friends.
Second, not only does the Department of Energy agree with Barry Obama’s energy-saving tips, for those of us who distrust “gub’mint” for ALL the answers (like myself, for example), let’s take a look at what the REAL “Mr. Goodwrench” has to say about tuneups and air pressure — Just their “Top Ten” of many other great suggestions, by the way:
1. Change engine oil, using the recommended grade of motor oil.
2. Check and change your air filter.
3. Inspect and, if necessary, replace a clogged fuel filter.
4. Adjust tire pressure to manufacturer-recommended specs.
5. Inspect/clean intake system.
6. Inspect/replace emissions components and/or a faulty oxygen sensor.
7. Inspect brakes for proper adjustment.
8. Inspect power steering system and perform a steering alignment, if necessary.
9. Align front suspension
10. Clean or replace dirty or malfunctioning fuel injectors. …”

Well, guess what, folks? On Barack Obama’s suggestion, I DID check my tire pressure and it was uneven, so I went ahead and filled them all to the recommended 35 PSI and I swear to God, my gas mileage shot up 50 MPG. Well, maybe not fifty MPG, but it felt like it did and that’s good enough for MOI. But seriously…

Meanwhile, on the OPPOSITE side of The American People, their two chosen candidates and even her own Democratic constituents, is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi whom REFUSES to allow any drilling of any sort in our home country (Source: The Swamp). This is why I would love to see Nancy Pelosi impeached. She is NOT the smartest American in our Democratic Republic and she is no better than the Bush-Cheney regime either — two other folks who should be impeached immediately as well. Impeach Nancy Pelosi, impeach Vice President Dick “Shotgun” Cheney, and Impeach President “Surge” Dubya Bush — the first one for her incompetence, the last two for their high crimes and misdemeanors against The American People. If this is “Public Service”, I’d hate to see what “Public Criminals and/or Doomasses” look like…
Oh, and if you happened to click on The Swamp article referenced above, this IDIOT, House Speaker Pelosi, had the gall to tell George Stephanopoulos:

Let me just put it THIS way — Pelosi is either a mental midget or she’s playing the game of “politics” (all by her lonesome, by the way) and keeping this nation grave danger as well as in the crosshairs and under the control of TERRORISTS from the Middle East, including “Surge’s” buddies in the Saudi Royal family. Don’t forget — she’s playing this game completely against the will of the MAJORITY of the American People as well — people who are increasingly in favor of becoming more dependent upon our OWN resources as well as ridding ourselves eventually of our dependence upon crude. Not to mention, the above quote is blatantly FALSE, as I have already proven beyond debate, by the way.

Yes, tune ups and proper tire pressure is important, and good advice. When it comes from your Dad when you get your first car. Not as an energy policy from a guy running for presdent.
DOE says we can save 3.3 percent by having properly inflated tires. That amounts to about 400,000 bbls of oil a day. No small amount but still hardly solving the energy crisis.
Drill here, drill now.
I demand universal car care. In the richest nation on earth, it is a shame that some seniors somewhere must make the difficult choice of buying their medicine or having their fluid levels checked and tires rotated. Let’s tax the tire companies to pay for free oil changes for everyone!

I sincerely hope that the Left sticks with this “plan” for our energy problems. Perhaps they can propose an new national police force, to spot-check tires and imprison offenders. Better yet, they can propose setting SUV and truck tire pressure to 0 PSI, which I can attest would save lots of oil.
The point that any-one stupid enough to have ever voted republican is missing is that this would save more fuel,right now, than drilling every preserved section of coastline could generate in ten or twenty years. P.S. If you have voted republican in the past and are too stupid or stubborn to admit that you fucked up big time, please do America a favor and fire your hand-gun into your mouth a few times.
