Obama Leads Trails In Statistical Dead Heat With McCain (???)
As I roamed over to MemeOrandum to catch the latest blogosphere “buzz”, at the top of the fold I learn from the first headline, Señor McCain of Arizona Panama now leads Barry Obama in the latest Gallup poll by four points. But wait — directly beneath the top-featured “hot link” of the moment I see the latest Gallup poll has Panama John trailing Barry O-Bomber by eight points. What the hey…?
So, I go ahead and dig deeper because, as we all know, the polls, so far away from the actual election on November 1st, are “oh-so-important and all-telling“, and this is what I learn — The USAToday Gallup Poll’s results were from so-called “likely voters” while the Gallup Daily Poll results were from “registered voters”. As we all know, the latter of the two groups is the one set in stone while the former can become demotivated and the latter can become suddenly motivated to the voting booths. So, which poll is the most important one of the two? OBVIOUSLY, the latter NEITHER OF ‘EM.
As usual, I couldn’t depend upon Mark Memmott’s USAToday (No slam on Mr. Memmot — a slam on the Mainstream Media in general) article’s explanation for the vastly different findings and had to resort, instead, to my OWN critical thinking skills to figure it out for myself. For example, this is the only “snippet” at the Memmot article, which even attempts to address the disparity between the two polls by the same polling enterprise:
“… Frank says that while the tracking poll indicates Obama may have gotten some gains from his overseas trip last week, any benefits may be short-lived. That tracking poll of 2,674 registered voters was also done Friday-Sunday and the margins of error on the results are +/- 2 percentage points.
As for the difference between the tracking and USA TODAY/Gallup polls, Frank says not to read too much into it. “Statistical noise” may be largely to blame.”
“Statistical noise”? Mr. Memmot? What a horribly underthought and underinvestigated piece of journalism that was. And as for ole’ “Frank”, we’re talking about the Gallup editor Frank Newport HIMSELF and this is the best explanation for the disparity he can offer Mr. Mermmot and his readers? Does Mr. Newport himself not know he (supposedly) polled two vastly different and in the case of the “likely voters”, quite FLUID groups? Or did Gallup simply split a solitary poll into two separate “final” polls based upon geographical location in order to create interest and controversy, and of course, “buzz”, “scuttlebutt”, and oh, yeah — PRESS COVERAGE? What in the hell is REALLY going on here, folks?
On the other hand, the outrage isn’t over the polling results — again — it’s way, too early for them to matter even a single bit. Nope, the outrage is over the crappola the MSM is constantly trying to ram down the collective throat of America while attempting to play it off as “news” and as something worthy of “value” to We, The People. That’s QUITE an example of “investigative jounalism” there, USAToday and Mr. Memmot. And as for Gallup themselves, if this “Frank” character is their chief spokesman for these two polls and IF I was correct in my analization of the facts after peering through the fog, it would appear obvious that ole’ “Frankie-boy” himself can’t even do a good job of yawning his way through an obvious explanation for an obviously unimportant poll.
Last but not least — Kudos to MoveOn.Org for finally finding itself a sense of humor — H/T to USAToday, courtesy of YouTube — It’s entitled “It Could Happen To You”:
REFRESHING. Especially considering the source. Mr. George Sorros, I always KNEW you HAD to have a sense of humor buried down deep inside of you somewhere. How about more of this from you, please sir? Thanks in advance.

I need a little help here bro. Did I read this right, you think Georgie Soros is a swell guy with a sense of humor? This would be the same Geo.Soros that nearly bankrupted a handful of developing countries by currency speculation, and laughed while doing it? Naaawww… that cain’t be right, because I’m a conservative neanderthal and even I think that’s kinda crappy. You must mean G. Soros the Greek grocer. I now him. He’s a fine fellow. Great sense of humor. Don’t know what he has to do with “Move-On” though.

I hope Obama doesn’t raise my taxes too much! I hope Obama doesn’t weaken our national security! I hope Obama doesn’t do too much damage to our nation in his four years as president. I hope the republicans flush McCain and get a real candidate before November.
Yeah, I have hope.
“This is your brain on hope…” Sorry, that commercial just sucked eggs.
