Think Progress Distorts Señor Panama John’s Statement On Gas Prices; Patterico’s Pontifications Excuses Multimillionair’s BOAST That He Doesn’t Know Today’s Gas Prices Because He Wears A Rolex, Has A Butler Named “Jeeves”, Calls Everybody He Sees “Sport” And Refuses To Smoke His Pipe Without First Donning His Royal Smoking Jacket With “J.M.” Embroidered Over The Left Pocket
This is SERIOUS — I’m not KIDDIN’. In the latest battle of the “Far-Right” versus the “Far-Left”, Think Progress totally distored a claim by John McCain to imply he doesn’t REALLY know today’s gas prices. They should be totally ashamed for this obvious diostortion of the Truth (always with a capital “T”, by the way)…
Meanwhile, quick to the rescue of anybody even REMOTELY categorized as “Conservative”, or better yet, “Republican”; Patterico; no doubt, a VERY comfortable lawyer in Los Angeles, California, is quick to not only search for a “loophole”, he FINDS it and bloviates about it on his blog in one of those “Gotchya Moments” as he brags about how John McCain is so frigging WEALTHY, he doesn’t even know how to pump his own gas anymore, so how can he be held accountable for keeping up with gas prices? What in the hell is this “McCain guy” doing in the backseat while “Jeeves” does all the driving anyway? SNOOZING? Even if the man’s so wealthy he’s a “permanent passenger”, it seems he would notice the $4.10 For Regular Gasoline signs plastered all along the Interstate Highways to at least spark a few of his remaining brain cells to say, “Houston, We’ve Got a Problem!”
Here’s what started it all — Think Progress:
“… McCain’s cluelessness about gas prices is compounded by the fact that he is clueless about what to do about it. He is promoting a gas tax holiday for drivers because he claims to understand “Americans are hurting.” It will provide “a little psychological boost,” McCain said of his plan.
In reality, his gas tax holiday would be worth a mere 60 cents a day for Americans and would be a boon for oil companies and foreign oil-producing nations. It would drive up the deficit. Moreover, the proposal would rob $1.4 billion from “public transportation and severely restrict the industry’s ability to add and improve transit services for a growing number of Americans.” …
And here’s Patterico’s SHAMELESS defense of the most LIBERAL Republican presidential candidate EVER:
“… Think Progess cites this as evidence of “McCain’s cluelessness about gas prices.”
But McCain isn’t saying he doesn’t know the price of gas. He is saying that he doesn’t remember the last time he pumped his own gas, and how much it cost then. …”
That’s a defense? “Hey, the guy’s too wealthy and ELITE to pump his own gas these days. Who gives a damn if the man can’t read the NUMEROUS billboards from the backseat of his limousine as he cruises in STYLE and on our taxpayer-funded “dime”?
Frankly, I don’t see this as much of a defense for the reprehensible, ONLY Panamanian-Born Senator in the History of The United States of America. YOU, on the other hand, MIGHT just disagree. And, I’m FINE with that should it be the case…
