“Irony”?
Oops, I guess I messed up again — I’ve done it before and I’ll surely do it again — stay tuned. The Los Angeles Times‘ article is actually entitled “West Virginia Could Spell Trouble For Obama“, when, in FACT, while taking into consideration the recent, controversial, “race-baiting” words of Hillary Clinton Sir Shrillary Diane Rodham Clinton, the exact opposite is true.
For those who may have missed it, Shrillary is catching a lot of well-deserved heat for going on the record recently to suggest that SHE should get the Democratic nomination for the presidency, if for no other reason than she would be the most likely of the two to garner the vast majority of the biggotted, blue collar, gap-toothed, inbred “white foke” vote in those-there “all-important Red States”…
First, a recap of the latter, from THE one and only “Andrew Sullivan’s” TimesOnline (UK) piece, followed by a summary of the former — then YOU decide if I’m correct in my prediction:
Hillary Clinton’s suicidal gamble with race poison
Andrew Sullivan
From the very beginning, the premise and the promise of Barack Obama’s campaign was that it would transcend race. And last autumn the Obama team also knew this was the only way it could win.
The Clinton brand among black voters was so strong, so unbreakable, so resilient a force that even the first credible black candidate for the presidency remained stuck 20-30% behind Hillary Clinton among African-American voters. She was, after all, the wife of the “first black president”, as the author Toni Morrison called Bill. …”
(Snip!)
“… Last Thursday, Senator Clinton – dazed from a brutal setback in last Tuesday’s primaries – went even further. She told USA Today to consult an Associated Press story “that found how Senator Obama’s support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me”.
Yes: a candidate was explicitly arguing that she was the candidate of white Americans. …”
(Snip!)
“… And so a strategy that was essentially telling superdelegates that a black man could not win the general election became Hillary’s last resort. In this, the Clintons were egged on by the less principled members of the Republican right.
Black Americans – skilled at judging when they are being dissed – got the message. In last Tuesday’s North Carolina primary, Clinton got only 7% of the black vote – a lower percentage than Nixon or Reagan had won in general elections. …”
(Snip!)
“… the Clintons are destroying themselves and their legacy and their capacity to bridge the very gaps they now must widen to stay in the race. …”
Agreed. Well-written, as always when it comes to the very open-minded and honest Mr. Sullivan. That said, when you take into account some of the “snippets” from the previously mentioned LA Times piece, and the fact that Shrillary Clinton is STILL hanging in the Democratic race and the other fact that her wannabe “First Hubby”, Bill, is running around the country blowing his top, you MIGHT just begin to see where I’m really coming from after all…
West Virginia could spell trouble for Obama
Scant support among white working-class Democrats, especially men, could dog him into November.
By Stephen Braun
MOOREFIELD, W.VA. — In Hardy County, Democrats outnumber Republicans more than 2 to 1. But there is little enthusiasm for Barack Obama in this mountainside enclave, a portent of trouble for the Illinois senator in next week’s West Virginia primary and the general election beyond.
Nearly 97% white, the county is as conflicted as any rural and working-class Democratic bastion as it struggles to adjust to the likely prospect of the party nominating its first African American presidential candidate. …”
(Snip!)
“… The concerns of party members who live amid this rolling landscape of soybean fields, poultry plants and retirement cabins mirror those of many white Democrats nationwide: Some fear voters will be turned off by Obama’s black heritage. Others, they say, will find reason to doubt his patriotism or will perceive him to be an elitist. …”
(Snip!)
“… “My worry is there’s just too many people in this country who aren’t ready to elect a black president,” said Charles L. Silliman, a retired Air Force officer who is Hardy County’s Democratic Party co-chairman. “There’s a lot to like about him. But I’m just afraid that too many people will vote against him based on their fears and prejudice.”
Silliman and his wife, Carmen, are Clinton supporters, drawn by her healthcare plan and her endurance on the campaign trail. Still, the couple repeatedly have found themselves defending Obama, correcting acquaintances who relay baseless rumors about his name and religion.
Carmen Silliman has collected a sheaf of poisonous e-mails that have flowed into her in-box. “We do not need a Muslim to lead the good ole USA,” reads one. Obama is, in fact, a Christian.
Neil Gillies, an Obama supporter who runs a local environmental nonprofit group, glumly recounted the gibes that his wife, a schoolteacher, hears regularly from her students. “They’re convinced [Obama] is a Muslim, a terrorist, a guy who’s coming to take away their guns… ”
(Snip!)
… “I’ve got 50-some guns, and I wasn’t crazy about Obama’s talk about small towns,” said Sam Vetter, 64, a farmer and lifelong Democrat who regrets voting for Bush in 2000. “Besides,” he added, “Obama just doesn’t sound right for an American president.” …
Wow. The more I think about it, the more I am impressed by the implementation of the “Superdelegates” by the Democratic Party. For ONE thing, it does, indeed, appear Shrillary Clinton was correct in her biggoted forecast. For ANOTHER thing, thank GOD, these people are only worth ONE vote apiece for the occupant of the highest office in the land. Before the facts containted within these two articles were revealed just hours ago, I must admit — I was convinced the Democrats had ROCKS in their heads for insisting upon their “Superdelegate System”…
And now, I must admit, if it helps keep the biggotry of Shrillary Diane Rodham Clinton, her wannabe “First Laddy”, and their now-self-proclaimed “oh-so-important”, racist, inbred, “knuckle-dragging-mouth-breathing voter base from determining our nation’s policies and laws, this “Superdelegate” idea MIGHT just be a good thing after all…

Notice that Mr. Silliman didn’t say “I’m not ready….” There was a poll that came out in January on that subject . 91% of everybody said they had no objections to a female, or black candidate. However , a large number, varying by demographics/politics, thought OTHER people weren’t ready. It’s the other guy that’s a backwards troglodyte.
LA Times….Washington Post….CNN??? While your articles give a hint of intellectual prose, your choice of quoted sources definitely reflect the flawed liberal mentality. And as your blog title suggests…an oxyMORON!
