“Straight Talk Express” One Minute, “Doubletalk Express” The Next For Panamanian-Born U.S. Senator From Arizona
“The Iraq war was all about oil”, suggested Senór McCain in one of his rare moments of honest-to-goodness, actual “Straight Talk” before a crowded townhall meeting in Denver yesterday morning…
A very revealing “snippet” from National Journal‘s Hotline On Call:
McCain Suggests Iraq War Is About Oil
At the conclusion of a town hall held this morning outside in Devner, John McCain decided to toss in a plug for his upcoming energy policy rollout. But as McCain decried the dangers of Americans reliance on foreign oil, he also seemed to suggest that this reliance caused the current struggle in Iraq.
“My friends, I will have an energy policy that we will be talking about, which will eliminate our dependence on oil from the Middle East that will – that will then prevent us – that will prevent us from having ever to send our young men and women into conflict again in the Middle East,” McCain said. …”
Seems pretty clear, doesn’t it? Is there any doubt at all in your minds what Senór McCain of Arizona Panama was trying to tell us? My initial reaction was, “Aha! Cheers to Panama John for some well-deserved, well-overdue Straight Talk!”. I mean, COME ON. As the average man or woman on the street if they believe our troops are in Iraq for the oil, at least around these parts, most will roll their eyes are say “Yep!”.
However, the admission and “Straight Talk Express” quickly derailed again once Senór McCain realized the consequences of his little “slip-o-the-tongue”, and of course, he couldn’t get to a microphone quickly enough to change the story, spin his words, spin the meaning behind his statement, and revert back to being the “John McCain” many of us have come to know, love, despise, or anywhere in between depending upon the individual — oh — and stay tuned until you get to the bottom of this article if you want to get to the bottom of THE TRUTH. There is a major “WAKEUP CALL” a-comin’ your way, but FIRST…
From The Associated Press (Yahoo! News):
“McCain clarifies remark about oil, Iraq war”
By LIBBY QUAID
PHOENIX – Republican John McCain was forced to clarify his comments Friday suggesting the Iraq war involved U.S. reliance on foreign oil. He said he was talking about the first Gulf War and not the current conflict.
(Snip!)
… “No, no, I was talking about that we had fought the Gulf War for several reasons,” McCain told reporters.
One reason was Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait, he said. “But also we didn’t want him to have control over the oil, and that part of the world is critical to us because of our dependency on foreign oil, and it’s more important than any other part of the world,” he said. …”
Hold on a minute here — did we not just catch to so-called “leftwing mainstream media” giving the benefit of the doubt to Panama John? “Clarify”? “CLARIFY”? Why not use the word “Expand”, or the phrase “… expand upon his comments”? I believe the man was PERFECTLY “clear” in his original statement. How else can one construe those remarks he made in Denver? On the other hand, this now means Senór “Straight Talk” has given no less than THREE reasons for going into initially, surging into later, and now up to a ten thousand year occupation (Source: AP again) of Iraq.
Here we go again, in order — Senór Straight Talk’s reasons for the invasion of Iraq:
1. “To rid Saddam of the WMD’s intended to be used by him in cooperation with al-Qaeda in an attack against the People of the United States -
2. “To fight al-Qaeda on Iraqi soil so we don’t have to fight them here on American soil -
3. “To secure, occupy, and monetize the oilfields of Iraq -
4. See Item “1″ again -
Oh, yeah — that’s some “Straight Talk” alright. Forget the fact that the sending of our troops to Kuwait going back well over a decade ago was never “sold” to the American Citizens as an effort to secure the oilfields of Kuwait against a hostile takeover for Saddam Hussein, it was “sold” to us as a “valliant effort to defend the little guy from being taken over by a brutal dictator”, remember? And, amongst many other neoconservatives at the time, you DO know who else CLEARLY weighed in to say Desert Storm had ZILCH to do with oil was, don’t you? If you answered “Senór Straight Talk” himself, you get an “A-Plus”, dear readers…
Enjoy this quote I just ripped from a long ago forgotten interview of ole’ Panama John, which was conducted by The Arizona Star back in September of 2005 on that very topic — and PLEASE do remember this was the FIRST political blog to take you on this little “trip down Memory Lane”:
“… Daily Star: Our concern for democracy notwithstanding, isn’t the major concern that Iraq sits on a huge amount of oil? Isn’t it time we acknowledge that publicly?
McCain: No, no, no, no, no. …”
(Snip!)
“… With all due respect, and I respect everyone’s opinion, to say that we went there for oil, that’s just not – people said that’s why we went there the first time. The reason we went there the first time was because he invaded Kuwait. …”
Okay, y’all — go ahead and say it along with MOI: BUSTED!!!
What a relief to FINALLY know the truth behind our invasion of Iraq and the purpose behind “The Surge” (Of more civilian contractors than troops, by the way) of President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick “Shotgun” Cheney, and Senór “Panama John” McCain. I had to do a little digging for you, which was my pleasure, in order to expose this “Straight Talk” for what it really IS, and sadly, what could amount to a huge international crime on behalf of our leaders — BOTH sides of the aisle (I.E., Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton for example) — who voted to go into Iraq for BIG OIL.
And that amounts to a national disgrace as well as a horrible crime, folks.
