Poor ole’ Katie Couric. She had a chance to “shine” in the capacity of a mainstream media elitist, pinning the candidates for the Democratic nomination down in “tabloid” fashion, but after the controversial ABC News debacle, The Democratic Party of North Carolina said, “Sorry, we’re not interested in more of the same. Debate CANCELLED.”
The “Dear Katie Letter” read something like THIS:
North Carolina Democratic Presidential Debate CANCELLED
We regret to inform you that the proposed Democratic Presidential Debate scheduled for April 27 has been cancelled due to time constraints and logistical issues associated with such a large, national event. …”

“… Senators Clinton and Obama have offered additional opportunities to be seen and heard across the state in the coming weeks and months.
Both candidates have committed to attending our Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on Friday, May 2 in Raleigh. …”
Sounds a LOT like one of those generic “This Event Has Been Resheduled” letters, doesn’t it? That is, unless you are CBS News and/or Katie Couric. If you happen to be one of the latter, it sounds a LOT like one of those generic “YOU’RE FIRED!!!” letters, doesn’t it?
On the OTHER hand, if you happen to be an ordinary, hard working, American Citizen such as myself and most of the readers of this blog, it sounds more like one of those “Dear Mainstream Media Elitist, You’re No Longer Needed” letters. And, that’s a GOOD thing. The “MSM” has picked and chosen our political candidates for far, too long, and the People are beginning to not only tire of it, we’re beginning to outright RESENT IT. The very idea of a “Two-Party System” of government is the perfect demonstration of the OPPOSITE of a TRUE Democratic Republic such as the “United States” of our Founding Fathers.
In fact, it is beginning to look a HELL OF A LOT more like a monarchy (i.e., Clinton – Bush – Bush – Clinton), combined with an oligarchy (i.e., a “Government, OF the Corporations, BY the Corporations and FOR the Corporations”) than anything even REMOTELY close to resembling anything even CLOSE to the “Utopia” of our Founders.
CBS News’ reaction to the HUGE “DISS”? Predictable, to say the very LEAST:
Democrats Cancel Raleigh Debate
By REBECCA DANA“… CBS Corp.’s CBS network was to host the debate and had reserved a prime slot after the newsmagazine “60 Minutes.”
“CBS Evening News” anchorwoman Katie Couric, whose broadcast is mired in third place and who has had discussions with the network about leaving her contract after the presidential inauguration next year, now will be the only broadcast-network evening-news anchor not to moderate a debate during this election cycle.
CBS was to host a debate in December, but it was canceled because of the candidates’ refusal to cross picket lines during the Hollywood writers’ strike.
“Obviously, we’re disappointed, but we were all along at the mercy of the candidates’ political considerations,” said Paul Friedman, senior vice president of news coverage for CBS News.
Mr. Friedman said he didn’t see the cancellation having any implications for Ms. Couric. “It’s a shame, and she would’ve been great at it, and that might have been good for her, but she’s done a lot of stuff in which she’s done a terrific job and people haven’t given her credit for it,” he said. …”
“Credit“? Poor MSM elitist. My heart BLEEDS for her. Okay, I’m LYING. At least, I admit it when it’s true.
I’m betting my fellow BLOGGERS will be there, covering the newly-scheduled debate, and none of them will be trying to camouflage their TRUE leanings as CBS, ABC, MSNBC, NBC, CNN, FoxNews and the rest attempt to do. For REAL “coverage” of these debates debacles, I HIGHLY suggest you continue to scour the blogs.
