Panamanian Senator From Arizona’s Campaign And Legal Woes Continue To Mount Exponentially

CLICK TO ENLARGE -- Poll says either Barack Obama OR Sir Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton would defeat Señor Panama John McCain if general election were held today...As if Señor “Panama John” McCain didn’t have enough troubles already in fighting off his multiple felony accusations, including the possible, purposeful ignorance of his highly questionable status as a “natural born United States Citizen” as well as his potential felonious violations of provisions of his own Darwinian McCain-Feingold Election Reform assault upon our 1st Amendment civil liberty; a Washington Post-ABC Poll today reveals Señor McCain would be SOUNDLY defeated by either of the Democratic foes running against him were these hypothetical general election matchups to be held today.

Meanwhile, Ralph Nader is hopeful he also might also easily defeat the nation’s first potential Panamanian born Citizen and war hero, although the jury’s still out on that one.

When I first stumbled across the headline at The WaPo (courtesy yet again of MemeOrandum), I could hardly contain my excitement; not so much because of the poll results themselves but even moreso due to the top of the headline where it clearly read “POST-ABC POLL” (see below). For a fleeting moment there, I had great hopes that perhaps, the multinational Mainstream Media (“MSM”) conglomerate, ABC, may have folded directly after taking this last poll; one down, a dozen or so more left to go.

No such luck, however

From The Washington Post:

POST-ABC POLL
Both Obama And Clinton Hold Edge Over McCain

By Jon Cohen and Jennifer Agiesta

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) kicks off his general-election campaign trailing both potential Democratic nominees in hypothetical matchups, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) leads McCain, who captured the delegates needed to claim the Republican nomination Tuesday night, by 12 percentage points among all adults in the poll; Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) holds a six-point lead over the GOP nominee. …”

Not good, Señor McCain — not good at all. Furthermore; do not accuse me of having no heart — in the instance he may become convicted of either felony, I highly endorse no imprisonment for “Panama John” due to his heroic time served as a prisoner of war -slash- war hero during the Vietnam conflict. Probation will be enough; the man has already paid the price for his freedom; just trash that McCain-Feingold crappola of his and be done with it; return to our status as a “Shining Beacon Of Democracy To The World”, I say.

Meanwhile, election officials are still quibbling about whether or not “Panama John” legally qualifies as a “natural born Citizen of The United States of America”; a neccesity according to our Consitution and our Founding Fathers. Some are arguing a “natural born Citizen” is one whom was brought to God’s Green Earth without the mother agreeing to the employment of a c-section while others are arguing a presidential hopeful MUST have been born on U.S. soil. The only legitimate arguments against his Citizenship are coming from the nation of Panama, where he MIGHT qualify for dual citizen status as a Panamanian but not so much from any American Citizens with at least a half a brain on their shoulders. As for the c-section versus “natural” methods of his childbirth, those election officials who agree this might have been what the Founders were referring to via the term, are still trying to subpoena his mother’s birth records from “Panama John’s” native third world country’s government. Easier said than done, my friends.

As for “Panama’s” fight against possible incarceration for [psst... "allegedly"] violating his own McCain-Feingold election laws, election officials are afraid to speak out on their findings, as such an act could, too, possibly be yet another felony violation under the same “Act”.

More later as these stories develop…

John McCain was born on a United States military base while Panama was under jurisdiction of the United States. The term natural born citizen refers to immigrants like Arnold Schwartzenegger.

  • William Weber

Natural born citizen – one who is a citizen by birth. Anything else is pure sophistry. McCain is a citizen by birth.

I can’t believe anyone wastes time over this. Can’t believe I’m wasting my time over this!!

if you are born on a us military base that means you are a us citizen i am a german army brat and my best friend is also and we are us citezens with ss numbers. so take your liberal bullpucky elsewhere because i know the republicans will take it again in november.

Even if McCain were not a US Citizen, which he is, by the way, I would rather vote for him (or Hillary for that matter) before I would vote for the anti-christ Obama!

I am surprised that GTL, who invariably weighs in on the side of service men and women, would claim that the children of those serving on U.S. military bases on foreign soil are not U.S. citizens. And to do so merely for political expediency makes it even more appalling.

Who are you? And what have you done with the real GTL?

I guess that’s just part of the spell of anti-christ, the evil deceiver who can corrupt even those who once demonstrated honor and integrity.

F&B??? C’mon, man — it’s a tongue in cheek (as oftentimes found ’round these parts) poke at the term “natural born citizen” — NOT “Citizen”. Two different things, my friend ;-) And, there is a legitimate dispute as to whether or not a U.S. Citizen born on foreign lands meets the definition of the former, by the way. Oh, and for the record — I believe it DOES apply, and if it doesn’t, a Constitutional amendment stating such should, indeed be made, which clarifies that fact.

I’d bet our resident lawyer, Steve from Out Of The Binjo Ditch would agree with me? Steve?

    Care to weigh in, Sir?

Only the “anti-Christ” comment deserves the Oscar for Best Bottom Feeder. It’s really pathetic that all the right-wingers can come up with is such trashy religious bigotry and lies. McCain does not sanction this sort of junk. Obama is not a Muslim and all of the right-wing nonsense about that is not going to work. Americans are fed up with Swift Boat tactics. Come on, show a little decency.

I wonder what else is going to come out in the Rezko trial. Rezko is a pal and Obama supporter!
Rezko In Debt $50 Million; How Did He Afford Obama Lot?
Court Transcript Says Rezko Depends on Family Handouts of $7,500 a Month

By BRIAN ROSS and RHONDA SCHWARTZ
    March 5, 2008—

Accused Illinois fixer Antoin “Tony” Rezko is in debt by $50 million and relies on “family” handouts of $7,500 a month to pay monthly costs, according to a previously sealed court transcript reviewed by ABC News.

Rezko’s bleak financial picture raises the question of how the Rezkos were able to buy a vacant lot adjoining the home of Sen. Barack Obama in 2005, at a time Rezko says he was already in deep debt.

Rezko also reveals in the testimony, before Judge Amy St. Eve on Jan. 16, 2007, that he already knew he was under federal investigation at the time of the land purchase and had hired a criminal defense attorney to deal with the “feds.”

Obama says he sought Rezko’s help because the house he wanted to buy in Chicago’s Hyde Park came with an adjoining lot the seller wanted to sell at the same time.

Unable to afford it himself, Obama says Mrs. Rezko bought it for $625,000, and then later sold a strip of the lot back to Obama so he would have a larger yard. Obama says he paid Mrs. Rezko a fair market price.

According to the court transcript, Mrs. Rezko makes $37,500 a year.

Obama has defended Rezko’s role as legal but says it was “a bone-headed mistake” to involve him in the deal.

According to the transcript, Mrs. Rezko sold the vacant lot a few weeks before the hearing, with all proceeds going to pay previous debts.

Asked how he was able to pay his lawyer, Joseph Duffy, Rezko said family and some unnamed “friends” were paying his legal bills.

Duffy told the judge, “Mr. Rezko has not provided us any money since his indictment.”

Rezko told the judge he had no current source of income, saying his last business deal involving a proposed power plant in Iraq had been cancelled.

He said he had an ongoing relationship with Nadhmi Auchi, a London-based Iraqi billionaire convicted on French fraud charges, who Rezko described as a close friend and business associate.

Auchi came under investigation with the U.N. oil-for-food scandal, but no charges were brought, and he denied any wrongdoing.

OK GTL, if it was tongue-in-cheek then I guess it’s not that awful. ;-)

I don’t know how Rezko is supporting himself, but I heard that he gave the anti-christ Obama $80,000 during his Senate campaign, but later the anti-christ Obama returned $140,000 of the $80,000 after Rezko was indicted. :-)

I cain’t help but wonder…if Sen. Obama is the anti-christ, what does that make Sen. Clinton? Satan’s evil step-mom? ;-)

I would have to do some research on the matter, but I think the key word in all of this is “natural.”

My take is that a natural-born citizen is one to whom citizenship is presumed, such as Goldwater, who was born in the Territory of Arizona, or Franklin Roosevelt, who was born in Canada to American parents. Under this premise, there would be no issue with John McCain running for or being elected President. This contrasts, in my mind, with a “naturalized” citizen, or one to whom a new status is accorded upon the granting of citizenship, such as Jennifer Granholm or Ah-nuld.

But, rather than listen to my admittedly briefly researched opinion on the matter, I would point you to this 1988 Yale Law Journal note on the topic.

Here’s hoping I linked that properly.

  • Steve

Note that while the article is 20 years old, I did a quick search for any Supreme Court decisions squarely on point since this time (really quick; less than 5 minutes of searching) and was unable to find any decisions on point.

  • The GTL™

Well done, Sir! So… I take it you don’t think “Natural Born” has anything to do with a c-section versus natural childbirth? ;-)

  • Steve

What can I say? You call, I answer.

Now, that was 15 minutes of billable hours, at $250/hour…

  • The GTL™

YOUCH!!! I remember when you used to be free… LOL.

  • Steve

I actually don’t partake in billable hours at my current firm, which is something I’m glad for. But, it would add up quickly, even after overhead.
