“Hanoi Gloria” Steps Up To Say What Hillary Clinton’s Been Thinking All Along
Okay, let’s just get one thing straight — John McCain got caught — red-handed — at least, that’s the “point” Gloria Steinem is trying to make. John McCain was imprisoned as a prisoner of war while serving his country; agree or disagree with his politics; admire him as a presidential candidate or not (the latter in my case), give credit where credit is due, for cryin’ out loud.
Meanwhile, Hillary is desparate. She’ll say or do anything to park her derierre on The Throne — even if it comes down to bashing black Americans and former Prisoners of War, including but not limited to John McCain and Barack Obama; not necessarily in that order either. Furthermore; in order to keep her hands “clean”, she’ll employ others to say what she’d rather say on her own, if ONLY it wouldn’t erode her votes. Unfortunately for “Hanoi Hillary”, it’s not going to work this time…
From The New York Observer:
Stumping for Clinton, Steinem Says McCain’s P.O.W. Cred Is Overrated
by Niall Stanage
AUSTIN, Texas—Feminist icon Gloria Steinem took to the stump on Hillary Clinton’s behalf here last night and quickly proved that she has lost none of her taste for provocation.
From the stage, the 73-year-old seemed to denigrate the importance of John McCain’s time as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. …”
(Snip!)
“… Steinem raised McCain’s Vietnam imprisonment as she sought to highlight an alleged gender-based media bias against Clinton.
“Suppose John McCain had been Joan McCain and Joan McCain had got captured, shot down and been a POW for eight years. [The media would ask], ‘What did you do wrong to get captured? What terrible things did you do while you were there as a captive for eight years?’” …
(Snip!)
“… McCain was, in fact, a prisoner of war for around five-and-a-half years, during which time he was tortured repeatedly. Referring to his time in captivity, Steinem said with bewilderment, “I mean, hello? This is supposed to be a qualification to be president? I don’t think so.”
Steinem’s broader argument was that the media and the political world are too admiring of militarism in all its guises.
“I am so grateful that she [Clinton] hasn’t been trained to kill anybody. And she probably didn’t even play war games as a kid. …”
(Snip!)
“… Steinem insisted that “from George Washington to Jack Kennedy and PT-109 we have behaved as if killing people is a qualification for ruling people.” …
Attribute these quotes to Hillary. Until she steps up to denounce such insensitive statements on behalf of her campaign, courtesy of Hanoi Gloria, these statements eminate from HER OFFICIAL CAMPAIGN as far as I am concerned. That said, she does have a few valid points — war heros don’t always make the best presidents, as history has proven time after time…
On the other hand, until the deafening silence is broken by the “Sir Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton” Campaign, we must assume she shares this opinion.

When a radio talk show host made some ridiculous disparaging comments about Obama that had nothing to do with issues, McCain immediately apologized and disowned the comments even though he had nothing to do them. He recognizes that a smear made by his supporters may as well have been made by him. McCain made it clear that he would not use these tactics and would disavow any “supporters” who did. Be nice if Hillary and Barak would do the same – but don’t hold your breath. Those on the extremes (right and left) seem to think that the “rightness” of their views justify any slimy tactic that will advance them.
Gloria got this in just in time to wipe out Texas and Ohio for Hillary.
Anyone who still applies the nickname “Hanoi” to other needs to open a vein and make room for someone useful.
