Was Barack Speaking To An All-Military Crowd In Wisco?
NOPE…
… and that’s the frightening part…
Look; I’m as happy as the next guy who can’t stand Sir Hillary Rodham Clinton or the Sheriff John McCain. Barack seems to be kicking their butts at this moment and that’s a good thing. However; for years, my co-blogger, Michael Linn Jones and myself have been complaining and pointing out the fallacy of President Bush’s insistence upon claiming the unconstitutional title of “Commander-In-Chief of The American People“. He’s nothing of the sort.
He is no such thing, nor is there any such title under the United States Constitution. In fact, the president is, ultimately, commanded by HIS “Commanders-In-Chief”; We, The American People and he (or she, God forbid, in the case of Hillary), is the CIC of ONLY the U.S. military and its individual members. Any other arrangement and you’re living in a “Pakistan” or a “Cuba”; most certainly not REAL democracies by any stretch of the imagination. We already KNEW President Bush, Hillary Clinton and John McCain coveted the imaginary title of “CIC of The American People”, but I was QUITE dismayed to hear good ole’ “Mr. Change” Obama felt the same way.
While there is yet to be published any transcript of his victory speech in Wisconsin tonight; a great one, indeed; I heard it with my own two ears — verbatim:
“As your Commander-In-Chief, I will keep you safe.”
A chilling quote to ANY liberty-loving American, and one of the last things I ever expected Mr. Obama to utter. His opponents; a “given”. Barack? SHOCKING. The last thing we need in the United States of America is another “Police Stater” or “Nanny Stater” (“Big Brother” anyway you slice it) coveting that big ole’ bag of bucks called the “United States presidency”.
Sadly, up to this point, I was beginning to believe Barack Obama was the only one of the three [ahem... "Front-Runner"] candidates left in the race for the Oval Office to understand we are not interested, nor are we Constitutionally ALLOWED to appoint a “King” or a “Queen” over the operations of our Government. Today, I’m not so sure. And it’s sad for me; sad because I was clinging to “hope” and a hope for a “change”.
Snips from ABC News:
Obama, McCain Win Wisconsin Primaries
Exit Polls: Wisconsin Voters Say Obama More Electable Than Clinton in NovemberBy JENNIFER PARKER
Continuing his winning streak, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has defeated Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., in the Wisconsin Democratic primary, winning a state with a sizeable population of blue-collar workers and white voters.
“Houston, I believe we have achieved lift off!” Obama said at a victory rally in Houston, Texas.
Obama’s Electability
Wisconsin Democrats identified Obama, not Clinton, as most likely to win in November, according to preliminary exit poll results. …”
(Snip!)
“… The loss is another blow to the former first lady, whose candidacy is now in jeopardy. …”
And now, with over half the votes counted in the Great State of Washington, I, The GTL™, am calling Barack the winner there, too (50% to 47% as of 1:00 A.M., CST).
Not good for the Senator “Puppet” from New York. On the other hand, not good for the American People either — that is, IF this Senator from Illinois TRULY does believe he is actually MY “Commander-In-Chief” and NOT my “public servant“, should he be LUCKY enough to win my vote. Should I choose to cast my vote for the man, or anybody else for that matter; it’s so they can follow MY orders; not the other way around. Is that message getting through loud and clear enough for you wannabe “CIC’s”?
But first — FIRST — this man MUST back off of this “Commander-In-Chief” crappola. We’ve had a “Commander-In-Chief” in charge of this country for going on a decade so far. And we’ve all seen where that’s gotten us over the years…

I don’t think much of a case can be made of his choice of words in this case. The President is the Commander in Chief of the military – which he would be if elected. I don’t think he was trying to say anything other than that, as president, he wouldn’t hesitate to do what was necessary to protect the country should it be attack. Hell, most folk these days don’t understand the president’s role as CIC.
Obama seems to me to be our best bet. That surely doesn’t mean I agree with his stance on several things.

I sincerely do hope you’re right on this one, bro… it chilled me to the bone hearing those words come out of his mouth — he sounded just like President Bush, Senator McCain and Senator Clinton on that quote…
