We’ve got this HUGE election going on right now; the Primaries; clogging up the airwaves and print of the Mainstream Media. “Hillary-this”; “Barack-that”; “McCain-this”; “Giuliani-that (“that” being the latest; he wants to stop paying his campaign staff now)”; “Mitt-this”; “Michigan-that”.
There’s nothing else making the headlines these days, but somewhere in the background, on pages two or three during this whole “dog and pony show” was something about some U.S. Navy videos of the Republican Guard of Iran in a few tiny little boats threatening to take on half of the United States Navy in the Strait of Hormuz. Nevermind the fact that the Iranians themselves were reiterating they didn’t want to fight the United States, providing videos of their own to refute the allegations of the Pentagon, the Bush Administration, and their cronies.
President “Surge” W. Bush, meanwhile, jumps to his preferred conclusion that those “pesky, dangerous, nook-lee-ir” [ahem... and "OIL RICH", coincidentally (?)] Iranians were about to attack the Twin Towers again; or some similar babble; and that “all options are on the table”, he says. Then, last night we get the latest Republican Debate YAWNFEST on FoxNews, who finally decided Ron Paul could join in the fun just as long as he stood way over to the far-left side where nobody could see him, and most (with the exception of Ron Paul) of the GOP “wannabe Republican prez’s” are echoing the anti-Iranian rhetoric and “warhawking” over those so-called “incriminating” videos.
Today? Allow me to gleefully point out what this bunch of knee-jerking JACKASSES with VERY itchy trigger fingers and bad judgement have learned — that is — IF they even read the newspapers — from The Washington Post:
Iranian Boats May Not Have Made Radio Threat, Pentagon Says
By Robin Wright
The Pentagon said yesterday that the apparent radio threat to bomb U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf last weekend may not have come from the five Iranian Revolutionary Guard speedboats that approached them — and may not even have been intended against U.S. targets.
The communication Sunday was made on radio channel 16, a common marine frequency used by ships and others in the region. “It could have been a threat aimed at some other nation or a myriad of other things,” said Rear Adm. Frank Thorp IV, a spokesman for the Navy.
In the radio message recorded by the Navy, a heavily accented voice said: “I am coming to you. You will explode after a few minutes.” But Farsi speakers and Iranians told The Washington Post that the accent did not sound Iranian.
In part because of the threatening language, the United States has elevated the encounter into an international incident. Twice this week, President Bush criticized Iran’s behavior as provocative and warned of “serious consequences” if it happens again. …”
How damned embarrassing, the fact that we have a president who would threaten WAR over a faulty report. Almost as embarrassing as having a president who would actually SEND us to war over a faulty report. Even MORE embarrassing is the fact that we are talking about the same guy and the same cronies in BOTH instances.
Meanwhile, the Republican candidates for president should feel embarrassed for standing at their FoxNews podiums, pounding on them, echoing the same anti-Iranian rhetoric whenm, the very next day, the Pentagon comes out and says “Hey, maybe those weren’t even Iranians. Maybe their were pomeranians. And maybe they weren’t even talking to us. Maybe they were just fishing boats or something” — just HOURS after President “Surge” W. Bush said he’s going to leave “all options” (including “nook-lee-ir” weapons?) on the proverbial “table” should these (pomeranian fishing?) boats ever try to pull another stunt like that one.
If I were a Republican, and I’m glad I’m NOT; OR a Democrat for that matter; I’d toss a vote for Ron Paul. At least HE doesn’t sound as thirsty for “Big Oil” at the expense of blood and guts as the rest of your Republican “heros” (or Sir Hillary Rodham Clinton either, for that matter) do.
H/T To Glenn Greenwald (Salon) — Check out this YouTube video of Fred Thompson at the FoxNews debate last night for just a “taste” of what I’m speaking of — Frederick Dalton Thompson on the topic of the so-called “confrontation” between the five Iranian fishing boats and half of the U.S. Navy:
OOPS.
Following the tragedy of what will soon be the thankfully past eight year administration of President Bush and Vice President Cheney (Karl Rove, Alberto Gonzales, Scooter Libby, etc., etc., etc.), this could be the MOST IMPORTANT PRESIDENTIAL RACE EVER in these United States, my friends. And the very LAST thing we need right now is another eight years behind the leadership of a warmongering “Big Oil” PAWN at the stern. We need a freaking DIPLOMAT in the White House today more than ever before.
And just whom that might be remains yet a mystery; a mystery which MUST be solved lest you prefer to have your children and loved ones participating in Armagheddon, a.k.a., WW-III.
Think… THINK… THINK, People…
