… it’s “Barry” Versus “Huck”…!
Are you surprised? Not MOI (and yes, again — I am part French and am quite proud of that fact)…
From CNN:
Huckabee, Obama have huge night in Iowa
DES MOINES, Iowa (CNN) — Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee have claimed victories in Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses
With all Democratic precincts reporting, Obama had the support of 38 percent of voters, compared to 30 percent for John Edwards and 29 percent for Hillary Clinton. …”
(Snip!)
“… With 92 percent of Republican precincts reporting, Huckabee, former governor of Arkansas, had the support of 34 percent of voters, compared to 25 percent for Romney. Fred Thompson had 13 percent, McCain had 13 percent and Ron Paul had 10 percent. …”
DING-DING-DING-DING-DING…
Your thoughts? Think you can guess what mine are?
SOUND OFF!

I just ran across your blog today. I couldn’t resist the name, as it describes myself pretty well. I couldn’t be happier about Obama winning the Iowa caucus. I told a coworker of mine to mark my words, that Obama would be the next president of the US … and I’m holding my breath. Today was a big step.
I look forward to reading more of your stuff.

While I’m not too surprised with the Democratic results, I think I am a bit surprised with the Republicans. I know Huckabee had the support of the Evangelicals, but I thought all of Romney’s negative ads would have had more of an impact. Perhaps they did.
I am somewhat impressed that Ron Paul ended up higher than Giuliani.

Let’s face it, Republicans = Party of God, and never will your average diehard conservative worry about whether or not their candidate has a brain or is capable of running a day care, much less a nation. Dubya proved that once and for all.
Whatever you feel about racial milestones or the message, the sad fact is that if these are the two that will be going at it, an elected Huckabee will prove to the world once and for all that the America we all once thought we knew is gone forever and they might as well prepare for Armageddon, for that is what these Christians thirst for, making it a very easily self-fulfilled prophecy.

“I thought all of Romney’s negative ads would have had more of an impact”
Steve, I also thought it would be closer. But there is that stigma of sorts that Iowans like “nice.”

If I were an incumbant Dem in the House or Senate with a Republican Lite voting record, the message coming out of Iowa would have me nervous as hell.
People have been saying for 20 odd years that the youth vote would turn out, and it was always a fizzle. Well, Barack Obama said they would show up, and he delivered.
I think he’s got momentum, he’s organized, and his message is reaching and connecting. SHillary is toast.
