Yessiree, Mr. Penn; you’ll be pleased to know another so-called “democratically elected”, third world dictator has manipulated his country’s constitution to inherit another five years at the helm; “President For Life” title to come soon most likely. Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and yourself should be proud…
Here is the great news for you, Mr. Penn, from The Washington Post:
Court Dismisses Legal Challenge Against Musharraf
Move Clears Way for Leader to Serve Another Presidential TermBy Pamela Constable
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Nov. 22 — President Pervez Musharraf’s script for a tightly controlled political transition moved ahead on cue Thursday, as his hand-picked Supreme Court dismissed the final legal challenge to Musharraf becoming president for another five-year term and officials said he would resign as army chief within days.
Aides and supporters of Musharraf said they hoped that once he is sworn in as a civilian president, probably by this weekend, the barrage of domestic and foreign criticism against his imposition of emergency rule will recede and the nation’s attention will turn to parliamentary and provincial legislative elections now scheduled for Jan. 8.
“All the issues making the politicians agitate will be resolved,” said Tariq Azim Khan, the deputy information minister. “General Musharraf will take off his uniform and become Mr. President. The emergency definitely will be short-lived. The people should begin preparing for elections and let the best man win.” …
The very moment Mr. Musharraf bashes President Bush in the press and bans cigarette smoking will be the moment you can look forward to Hugo Chavez, Sean Penn and other Hollywood (SO-CALLED) “leftists” to head on over to Pakistan for their mug shots with the dictator “president”.
And you know — here’s what I don’t understand about the “Sean Penns” of Hollywood: they applaud the shredding of a constitution by a sitting president on a quest for dictatorial powers JUST AS LONG AS — it occurs in a third world nation. Meanwhile, President Bush is doing the very same thing right here in the good ole’ USA and they cannot stand the man. On the other side of the coin, the right bashes and bashes Hollywood while turning back to Tinsel Town again and again to search for the saviors who will lead them to their “Utopian” America.
And President Bush’s feelings on the topic? Predictable, of COURSE:
“… President Bush said Musharraf had not yet “crossed the line” and that he believed the Pakistani leader was a believer in democracy and “a man of his word.” On Thursday, protesters here carried posters saying, “Where is the line, Mr. Bush?” and showing cartoons of Musharraf and Gen. Mohammed Zia ul-Haq, a former Pakistani dictator, as “Bush’s favorite democrats.”
A man of his word, Mr. President? Gazed into his eyes, just like you did with Russia’s Vladimir Putin, peered into his soul and saw angels trumpeting around in there? ANOTHER good call there, President King George, SIR.
Anyhoo… Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless America and may JFK Rest In Peace with the angels on this 44th anniversary of his senseless murder.

i don’t understand the Penn bashing. he’s not some foreign dictatorial agent, and he’s a lot to say about what’s happening here, he doesn’t like it.
and he’s about as leftwing as they come.
some people just don’t like Sean i guess, i think it’s his face.

Actually, it’s not his face. It’s his high-school dropout resentment of democracy and the rule of duly elected representatives—and puh-leez don’t tell me that a two-bit caudillo like Chavez is a democrat in any way, shape or form. He’s a populist nutjob playing on racial and social themes who happens to have a lot of money.
So ass-licking suck-ups like Penn and Naomi “they have beautiful waterfalls” Campbell can pay homage to a strutting Mussolini wannabe.

Oh, yeah, I forgot. It’s his acting ability that tees me off, as any of the two dozen people who saw Kings Ransom will attest. This is a johnny-one-note angry-looney second-rater who wants to prolong a fading career with political antics.

he’s apparently somewhat of a big deal since it ticks so many people off that he’s political.
so he goes around meeting significant world leaders and poking around in other countries. i’d like to do the same thing, and like Penn, i wouldn’t necessarily be paying homage to or supporting them, i’d be trying to learn something.
as for his acting ability: Carlito’s Way, Mystic River, Sweet and Lowdown.
