Just when you start to think this guy gets the message; his campaign’s OVER; he sticks around just so he can keep feeling “oh-so-important”, then delivers THIS “whopper”:
McCain: No Muslim president, U.S. better with Christian one
BY HELEN KENNEDY
GOP presidential candidate John McCain says America is better off with a Christian President and he doesn’t want a Muslim in the Oval Office.
“I admire the Islam. There’s a lot of good principles in it,” he said. “But I just have to say in all candor that since this nation was founded primarily on Christian principles, personally, I prefer someone who I know who has a solid grounding in my faith.” … – The New York Daily News
This, coming from not just a Presidential candidate, but a United States Senator, folks. It’s one thing to be a bigoted, gasseous WINDBAG when you are just a low-life Talk Radio Shock Jock like the disgraced (“Phony Soldiers”) Rush Limbaugh; quite another when you are one of just a hundred of the country’s most powerful people.
I’m not outraged, and when I first read that statement, I admit – I even kind of grinned one of those “oh no he DIDN’T” sort of grins. The grin soon wore off when I realised this bigot and many other bigots with the exact same point of view are currently holding high, important offices at all levels of all governments in our country today — but the Senate — The U.S. SENATE?
This just helps make a fantastic argument for term limits in Congress as far as I am concerned.

Gee, he sounds like a lot of CA liberals who don’t want a Christian of any sort in the Oval Office. Or the Protestants who don’t want a Roman Catholic in the Oval Office. Or the people of whatever stripe who don’t want to see a Jew in the Oval Office.

You know GTL. I kind of agree with him. And lord know’s I’m not a bigot or rascists, or some kind of white trash moron. I don’t think I could trust someone, (much like I don’t trust people who believe the Bible was meant to be taken literally) who believes, that Sharia Law, and the Koran are the highest laws. Republi-crat, or Demo-can, or whoever I wouldn’t trust them.
So, in a sense McCain is saying something alot of us believe. Is it a bigoted thought? Kind of. But I also know alot of folks who are as nice as can be, but will tell you with a straight face, they’d never vote for a Catholic or Jew to be President. So it can get hurtfull at times being around my moronic friends. Granted, I understand why they wouldn’t vote for a Jewish person. You think the Mid-East hates us now??..Wait till that happenes.Lemme tell ya.
Sorry to get off track there. But McCain has a point.

But RegularRon, doesn’t McCain’s statement itself helps feed the Mid-East sentiment that we are fighting some kind of modern Crusade?
Now, as for McCain’s statement that the U.S. was founded on Judeo-Christian principles is historically evident. But his other statement, that, “the Constitution established the United States of America as a Christian nation.” is flat out wrong.
The Constitution specifically mentions religion twice: In Article VI, “[N]o religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” In the First Amendment, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

Kind of funny considering many of our founding fathers were Deists.
Lizard brains will always be lizard brains. Well at least we don’t have any filthy Buddhists or silly Taosist running for office, lol.

Regardless of your political leanings, McCain is a non-issue. What we ALL have to worry about is about 15 months from now when Pres. one-trick Hillary starts pushing her universal health care Non-Sense, and Barack (aka the anti-christ) is in the back room drawing pentagrams on the floor.
Barack HUSSEIN Obama… Muslim in the Oval Office… Hmmmm… yeah, yeah, I know, I’m a lizard brain, but maybe his remark was more pointed than bigoted???
