President Bush Tells Nation “Troop Surge” Rollback Will Begin Soon; Says NOTHING About A Rollback On The “U.S. Private Contractor Surge”

The REAL surge in Iraq needs to be rolled back a bit TOO...Okay, great — the President (and many Democrats) are urinating all over themselves in excitement over the big “Troop Surge” and how well they say it’s worked, and now we can begin to bring some of them back home in third class seating versus in body bags. I’m glad to hear it, and frankly, if “The Surge” has TRULY worked as well as our two-bit politicians are telling us it is, then I say “YAY TEAM!”

But what about all of those greedy, no-bid, Big Oil and “Nation Buildin’ Bidness” contractors we have over there — you know; the people who actually OUTNUMBER our “boots on the ground” in military uniform — a.k.a., “The Coalition Of The Billing” — what about THOSE [mostly] guys?

When are we going to be bringing a bunch of THEM home so they can begin making an honest living; independent of foreign oil and the blood money from GOP donors? That’s what I’d like to know. A couple of hundred grand, tax-free annually, to simply drive busses, or sling hammers when we have tons of eligible troops to do the same job for sixteen grand a year? Does this make any damned sense to YOU?

Anyhoo — from The Washington Post:

Bush Tells Nation He Will Begin to Roll Back ‘Surge’
Gen. Petraeus Says U.S. Is Projecting ‘Sustainable Security’ in Iraq in 2009

By Peter Baker and Karen DeYoung

President Bush tried to turn a corner in the fractious debate over Iraq last night by ordering the first limited troop withdrawals since voters elected an antiwar Congress last year. But the move did little to appease Democratic leaders, who dismissed it as a token gesture masking an open-ended commitment of U.S. troops.

Bush said progress on the ground means he can pull out by next summer the additional combat forces he sent in January, or roughly 21,500 troops, and he opened the door to further troop reductions if conditions improve. …”

If “conditions improve”? More like “if corporate profits continue to shoot through the roof” — MUCH more accurate of a statement.

Do YOU like what we’ve become? Do YOU enjoy knowing that to the rest of the world we are the transparent, bullying, military-industrial complex based society some of our wisest leaders of yesteryear warned us we would one day become? It is what it is and we are who we are — like it or not — and I have no trouble admitting I’m ashamed and embarrassed that is the case.

Isn’t it completely, utterly, SICK, the fact we have more U.S. funded contractors in Iraq than we have military troops? Since when did basing a nation’s economy upon bullying and lying ourselves into wars against lesser armed, but more oil-rich nations such as Iraq, and soon, Iran become a great model of foreign policy? I’ll tell you when — since the neocon JERKS took over our nation — and NOW, they seem to be handing their bloody, oily batons off to the HIGHLY disappointing Democrats who are all too anxious to pretend they hate the idea while voting otherwise.

Let’s learn to grow food again. Let’s learn to invent and manufacture again. Let’s buy American again. Let’s PICK our own food again instead of relying on brown-skinned wage slaves from Mexico, shall we? ANYTHING to ditch our new role in the world of financing our homes and our Lexus’ on a state of constant war, I say.

I’m TIRED of it. We are MUCH better than this as a PEOPLE. At least, I THOUGHT we were. God HELP us…

Democrats sure do get bitter when a republican plan bears fruit and it becomes obvious to everyone (even those who won’t admit it) that it is a win-win-win-win for Everyone except the terrorists.

And why shouldn’t some of those blue collar construction workers share in some of that oil wealth by earning exorbitantly high wages for a few years while rebuilding a war-torn fledgling Democracy?

It is amazing how well we have done IN SPITE of the road-blocking liberals.
