All full of “piss and vinegar” the last time I gazed upon Donald Rumsfeld, also affectionately known as “The Rumster” to GTL™ readers. Not so today, according to a recent “Rumster sighting”…
Apparently, the man can’t even cross the street by himself these days without a helping hand. Perhaps, this is due, in part, to the burden upon his shoulders which comes from his efforts to PRIVATIZE the frigging U.S. military and shrink it down to nothingness before sending our skeletal forces all around the world to participate in non-winnable, foreign civil wars?
Guaranteed: Gravity and our evil deeds will catch up to ALL of us eventually, and, according to The Washington Post’s Mary Ann Akers (“The Sleuth”), points out the fact that “The Grim Reaper” is finally [psst! "allegedly"] beginning to catch up with “The Rumster”…
Random Rummy August Sighting
Starting a war must really wear a guy down.Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was spotted today having lunch at Morton’s on Connecticut Ave. What was remarkable was not what he ordered, or with whom he dined, or how quintessentially condescending he may have been to the waiter.
No, what was remarkable was how, according to our (Republican) source, Rumsfeld’s handlers had to help him onto the escalator and “held his elbow” and opened doors for him. “He looked old,” our tipster said.
Hard to imagine that Rummy, 75, the tough guy with so much energy that he preferred standing while working rather than sitting on his duff all day, could suddenly need help getting on an escalator. But maybe this is a classic case of “this is now, that was then” (or vice versa). …” – The Washington Post
Not hard to imagine at all. The only REAL question is: “Was The Rumster nothing more than just smoke and mirrors all along?”
Historians will figure it all out if we cannot do so today…

AT one time this was a vibrant website with much discourse and debate about the issues. You attempted to maintain some semblance of left of center but not FAR, FAR, FAR…. off the planet left of center that you maintain now.
Yet when I read this site now it has become a bitter, hateful, far, far left rant about anything and everything.
Now I come here and you have 1 comment…….0 comments.
This post is the perfect example. “We hate rummy and hope he dies.”
No wonder no one comes here anymore.

Traffic numbers are higher than ever right now, “Somebody”, just so you know
We can’t be everybody’s cup of tea, but I appreciate your feedback
P.S.: And OH… “we hate Rummy and we hope he dies” was NOT the message of the post either.

Oh, ease up on the cat, GTL. I think you’re going to be seeing more of this in the future, I know we have. We have a resident conservative commenter who seems to at least once a month bemoan how far off the reservation we’ve gone.
Me in particular, I apparently used to be the only non moonbat with half a brain, and then I all of a sudden turned into a bleeding heart.
What’s reallly happening, I think, is that the national consensus is taking a broad shift to the left, which is leaving some of the righties feeling a little high and dry.

You know, Kyle, I believe you’ve got one helluva point there. I think this country is definitely taking a bit more of a left turn as a unit. Once Hillary (God forbid!) takes the helm and the Dems have COMPLETE control of the Gub’mint bidness, we’ll eventually be taking a sharp turn to the right as a nation once the People see that complete domination by any group of “fringe” individuals is a bad thing…

Guaranteed: Gravity and our evil deeds will catch up to ALL of us eventually, and, according to The Washington Post’s Mary Ann Akers (”The Sleuth”), points out the fact that “The Hangman” has finally [psst! “allegedly“] caught up to “The Rumster”…
So what does this mean in your post???
“The Hangman” has finally caught up to “The Rumster”
I can only respond to your comments section. This used to be a place for lively debate. Now there is none. Hey no skin off my nose. Im just pointing out the obvious. If you want to stifle debate with your extremism. So be it. I dont pay your bills.

Funny fit of irony, Somebody, um… you visiting kinda does pay the bills

Actually, “Somebody” has made a good point. I hadn’t intended on using “The Hangman”, I don’t know why I did — an honest mistake. Instead, I had intended to utilize “The Grim Reaper”, which probably won’t endear me anymore to “Somebody”, but I have corrected the phrase in question:
“… “The Grim Reaper” is finally [psst! “allegedly“] beginning to catch up with “The Rumster”… “
And, also, “Somebody”… I actually kind of LIKE “The Rumster” — see THIS POST from October 27th of last year:
So, if you read this blog more often, you’d have known this particular post was meant to be more “tongue-in-cheek” than anything else. I do that a lot around here, as regular readers of The GTL realize.
Sorry for the confusion, thanks for pointing out my error (even if the correction doesn’t please you very much), and also, thanks for the visit, since — as our friend Kyle points out — it DOES help pay the bills, my friend…
Feel free to come in and set us “straight” anytime you feel the urge

This is hardly healthy debate of the issues. Even though you claim slightly left, its pretty obvious that most of the time you (and your co-authors) are far left with all views being pretty extremist. Tongue in cheek or not is beside the point. I do not care about that. I do not care about which side you choose. All I’m saying is that no matter your leanings there used to be active and lively debate here. Daily. Now there is very little.
To wit I counted the comments on this page and their were like 28 comments on a dozen or so articles. Most by the same few people. I excluded 2 posts. This one and another post that had 17 posts. As a blog owner that would concern me and I would work to rectify that. I would look at the articles that received the lively debate and attempt to use that as a formula for stimulating debate.
If you do not care, or do not want to then that is certainly within your rights as the owner of this blog. It is as I said earlier, no skin off my nose. I am only pointing out the obvious from one who looks on with nothing to gain or lose.
I really am not bashing you for your political views. I am only pointing out that there used to be lively debate here and now there is not.
