Romney speaks up for sons’ decisions

BETTENDORF, Iowa – Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney on Wednesday defended his five sons’ decision not to enlist in the military, saying they’re showing their support for the country by “helping me get elected.”
Romney, who did not serve in Vietnam due to his Mormon missionary work and a high draft lottery number, was asked the question by an anti-war activist after a speech in which he called for “a surge of support” for U.S. forces in Iraq.” …
First thing that comes to mind here is the word, “hypocrite”, as expressed quite well already by the “lefty blogger community”.
Second thing that comes to mind is “irrelevant”, due to the fact that Romney has ZERO chance of EVER becoming the President of the United States of America, and thank God for that fact.
You’ve read it before at a hundred other websites, you’ll read it here again, because this fact IS “relevant”: the most “hawkish” amongst us are the most cowardly when it comes to their personal participation in their neocon fantasies.
It’s easy enough to send your neighbor to war; much harder than actually participating in war yourself, or sending your immediate family to war. Personally, I’ve never sent a neighbor to war; woudn’t even dream of it, unless, of course, our country was under attack by preemptive enemy forces. Then again, I’ve been close enough to war to be a bit turned off by the entire concept; particularly, of the “preemptive” variety…
Bye-bye, Mr. Romney. Just head off into the sunset with Mr. McCain tucked tightly under your arm so the rest of us can rebuild our lives and our country, please.

No! Actually, the lefty blogosphere is all “abuzz” over the fact that Mitt Romney cavalierly compares his son’s campaign engagement with the lifthreatening job of US soldiers.
I really can’t understand how someone can get the clear and obvious points of the left so wrong so many times. GTL, do you have some kind of reading handicap or are you deliberately falsely putting left wing blogs in a bad light???

At least he wasn’t a mayor who couldn’t even clean up all the body parts, or even has the support of his kids.
At least Mitt(en) is good at brainwashing his kids. So he could be good at following the Bushie way. Just like Bush’s kids. They support their daddy no matter how many times he lies and kills people or isproven wrong time and time again. Daddy’s little girls just keep being proud of the man who sat and strummed a guitar while New Orleans crashes and blubs.
I wonder where he learned the belief that we should lock up and torture more innocent people or kill more innocent people to prove to the world that WE are the good guys.

GTL, I read them, and yes, you hit Romney with some nice punches. Sweet! However, this isn’t the first time I notice you making broad statements about ‘leftist’ positions that don’t quite correlate with reality, to say it carefully. Sry, but with your intro, you make it look like the hateful left attacks Romney’s kids because they are helping their dad instead of joining the army. But in reality, the criticism is about his cavalier remarks when asked about this, not about his kids’ choices of career. A small but important difference, ok?
