Out here on the west coast we have an expression, “poking the monkey”. What it means is you say or do something that will set someone off. I don’t think that was my intention with the post below, Hillary For President but that was certainly the result. I say great – there is no greater calling than to get people to think and vent their opinions. I don’t regret anything I said and believe that the powers that control such things have anointed Hillary. As I stated below certainly not my first choice or even second but a vast improvement over what we have now. Hillary has the support of what I will call enlightened corporatists not unlike the ones that supported FDR. When I say enlightened I mean they realize that their own self interests depend on a contented majority. As a result they are willing to tolerate at least some “socialist policies”. The enlightened corporatists who supported FDR realized the US was very close to a Bolshevik type revolution. The Communist party was rapidly gaining strength in the US. The enlightened corporatists realized the New Deal could end that movement and they were right. The modern enlightened corporatists saw what happened when an attempt was made to alter the popular Social Security program. They also see the widespread dissatisfaction with the current health care delivery system. As absurd as it might seem they see Hillary as an FDR of sorts. One of them but pragmatic. That’s why she will be the next president. Yes, I would prefer Bill Richardson but I don’t live in a bubble and I realize it’s not really my choice.
