Welcome Back Ann, We Missed You

coulterhell.jpgI’m not really sure why MSNBC host Chris Matthews thought it would be a good idea to bring Ann “she sells books” Coulter back into the public eye with an hour long interview, but I’m glad he has. She’s a shining beacon of modern day Republican morality and an important figure in showing the world exactly what it is the Republican party (as opposed to real conservatives) stands for.

In honor of her return I thought it only fitting we reflect on some of her prouder moments in her own words:

“My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building.”

“When contemplating college liberals, you really regret once again that John Walker is not getting the death penalty. We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed, too. Otherwise, they will turn out to be outright traitors.”

“We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren’t punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That’s war. And this is war.”

“While the form of treachery varies slightly from case to case, liberals always manage to take the position that most undermines American security.”

“God says, ‘Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It’s yours.’”

And her latest keeper quote? From The Carpetbagger Report:

“I’ve learned my lesson; if I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”

It seems Mrs. Edwards didn’t take too kindly to Coulter’s shtick and called in to Hardball to ask her to “raise the bar” and quite using the “language of hate”. The best part?

Coulter: I think we heard all we need to hear. The wife of a presidential candidate is asking me to stop speaking. No.

Matthews: No, she asked you to stop being so negative to people individually.

[snip]

Edwards: …the language of hate, and I’m going to ask you again to politely stop using personal attacks as part of your dialogue.

Coulter: Okay, I’ll stop writing books.

Edwards: If you can’t write them without them, that is fine.

It’s always fun to watch a bigot get b****-slapped, especially by someone who doesn’t even have to stoop to their level to do it. Way to go Mrs. Edwards.

I’d tell Coulter to go to hell, but she’d probably take it as a compliment. Instead I’ll just say “Keep up the good work Ann”. She’s got to be one of the best things to ever happen to liberals, if only by holding that giant anorexic mirror of hers up the the soul of the modern Republican party and showing it exactly how ugly it truly has become.

She got in good shots on Maher, who wished Cheney got killed, among other jokes. Typical hypocritical ultra-left agitprop. She’s smarter than John Edwards and his sicko wife put together. Ann should have reminded Ms Edwards how the bi-yotch called her neighbor “hateful” for hanging a Giuliani sign on his front porch.

Maher’s just as much of an idiot as Coulter, so don’t even try to throw the hypocrite flag around here.

Trash-talk whatever policies and politics you want. Berate any public figure you feel like. But one thing I will not tolerate is disparaging remarks about Mrs. Edwards because of her cancer.

Coulter may be able to live off of her acid tongue; it won’t work here. We’re all about dialog here at GTL, so if you’ve got anything more to add I suggest you “attack the message, but never the messenger”.

Elizabeth Edwards Viciously Attacks Ann Coulter…

It’s really sad the way Elizabeth Edwards has debased our political dialogue by confronting pundits with their own words….

    lol, Jon!

I saw the video a short while ago, and I have to say that I wasn’t surprised, but I was disappointed at the level of maturity displayed by Ms. Coulter. I was quite impressed that Mrs. Edwards was able to stay calm and polite throughout the conversation.

I know I’m guilty of personal attacks on candidates at times, as I’m sure many are when they get frustrated, but Mrs. Edwards does have a VERY GOOD point that personal attacks degrade the quality of debate. We should be attacking ideas and not the person behind them. If you don’t like John Edwards’ ideas for health care, tell us why it’s a bad idea. Making snarky comments about Hillary’s chunky thighs adds nothing to the conversation.

When Ann Coulter made the Edwards “faggot” remark, she was criticized by virtually every conservative host, pundit, and blogger.

That is never done for Bill Maher, Rosie O’Donnell, or the long list of libe4rals that insult Bush and conservatives in front of audiences regularly, with their audience of fans cheering.

But you try to make Coulter the face of the Republican party. She is the face of Ann Coulter, although there is always a point behind her brash comments, usually the double standards between liberals and conservatives, such as the one discussed here. That is why I like Ann in spite of her aggressive style.

Come on now, (Dustin wrote: “…don’t even try to throw the hypocrite flag around here”) — so somehow, in your mind, posting a photo of Ms Coulter with flaming red eye-balls is “attacking the message, not the messenger” and also is not hypocritical in relation to your other comments??? Not to mention comments about anorexia, that is sad, anorexia is no joke and is just as serious as cancer, even worse than many forms of cancer.

Typical liberal attitude; it’s OK if I do it, but it’s not OK if you do it.

Paraphrasing what Jesus said; “Let him among us who is without sin cast the first stone.”

Michael, the problem with Ms Coulter’s dry, ironic humor is that it is way over the heads of most liberals ;-)

That anyone can defend the vitriolic utterings of Ann Coulter and Rosie O’Donnell is a sad statement. They belong in the same category as Fred Phelps and his bunch of … whatever in the hell they are.

  • Dustin Metzger
    12:46 pm on June 27th, 2007 11

Michael: Ah Rosie O’Donnell… the irrelevant shrill that conservatives love to hate. The only place I’ve ever seen O’Donnell in the news is on Fox, and then only so they can bash her. When it comes to politics she’s a nobody. She’s nothing more than a convenient right-wing target and, to be perfectly honest, I don’t even know any liberals that like her either.

But conservatives will keep bringing her up I suppose because her antics are somehow equal to saying, “if I’m going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I’ll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”. Yep, just like Coulter…

F&B: You’re right, the anorexia line was a low blow and, if I could do it again, I would reword it. I should have known better because I’ve actually got close family friends afflicted with the disease. My only defense, if there is any, is that I was tired and ticked off when I wrote this article and the comment a few minutes later. I’m not above admitting some inherent hypocrisy in my “attack the message, not the messenger” remark.

That being said there are some people in the world, Coulter among them, who have consistently said things so hateful and corrosive that they become their message. This is where my picture came from. I simply created an image for Ms. Coulter that matches the message she speaks. Mrs. Edwards has not reached that line and, in my eyes, is off limits for such personal attacks. You may see it as hypocritical; I don’t.

Show me a liberal that receives the same praise and attention in the news media while being as vile as Coulter and I’ll stand right next to you in attacking them. The simple fact of the matter is that such a person, as of yet, doesn’t exist.

Just like a leftist to accuse Ann of “hate speech” when she criticizes her pretty boy husband. A man who makes a living increasing the price of goods and services on the poor with frivilous law suits that everyone pays for.
John Edwards and all his welfare supporters are trying to destroy America and create a socialist welfare state that rivals Cuba and North Korea. Keep up the good work Ann.

You think this is about simple criticism? Please, if only that were the case.

No, this is about a women who has advocated murder of foreigners, politicians, and sitting judges. This is a women who takes the low road just so she can keep getting attention and keep selling books.

If all Ann Coulter did was offer honest criticism and critique I’d have no problem with her but she doesn’t. She’s no better than Fred Phelps and deserves just as much scorn. So go ahead and support her if you want; just know that you’re supporting mean-spirited bigotry.

“I’ll just say “Keep up the good work Ann”. She’s got to be one of the best things to ever happen to liberals”

This line sums it up perfectly!
