Life Can Be a Female Dog of No Breeding (It Sucks to be Paris)

This afternoon Paris Hilton screamed in agony as she was escorted out of the courtroom to return to jail where she will complete the entirety of her 45-day sentence.

According to the Yahoo News report by Linda Deutsch:

“It’s not right!” shouted the weeping Hilton. “Mom!” she called out to her mother in the audience.
Hilton, who was brought to court in handcuffs in a sheriff’s car, came into the courtroom disheveled and weeping. Her hair was askew and she wore a gray fuzzy sweatshirt over slacks. She wore no makeup and she cried throughout the hearing.
Her body also shook constantly as she dabbed at her eyes. Several times she turned to her parents who were seated behind her in the courtroom and mouthed the words, “I love you.”

Kudos to Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer for showing us, at least this time, Justice does wear a blindfold.

A hearty “AMEN!” to Assistant City Attorney Dan Jeffries, who argued the case and who stated so truthfully, “her release after only three days erodes confidence in the judicial system.”

Shame on Los Angels Country Sheriff Lee Baca for taking it upon himself to circumnavigate the legal system for whatever reasons he had.

My first question upon hearing she was released by the Sheriff was a simple, “Can he legally do that?”. I still haven’t gotten a good answer from anyone… but my gut says no, at least not without judicial approval. Anyone know the actual answer?

I’m not aware of any statutes that authorize a Sheriff to modify the final ruling of a judge. However, I don’t live in California, nor am I licenced to practice there.

This seems like a contempt charge waiting to happen.

This sheriff seems to have the same understanding of “seperation of powers” as George Bush has. What in the HELL was he thinking?

They have some pretty messed up people in jail and prison, who die of their conditions every day. Nobody wants to take THEIR pictures. Nobody wants to turn THEM loose on the street.

All I have to say is boo-effin-hoo. Her only real claim to fame is the fact that she’s rish and that she released a video of her shagging her boyfriend. It’s about time this vacuous “celebrity” got introdiced to what the rest of us call the “real world”.

Wow! The system in the USA actually works, at least in this case.

Apparently, the LA city attorney is demanding that the sheriff who released her be held in contempt for violating a court-order.

I bet something more scandalous happened here. Like what did she do for the Sheriff?

Someone should investigate all these young celebrities because it is way out of control…

I find it interesting how some people are so obsessed with attention that they follow the adage of “there’s no such thing as bad press” to the extremes.

I have a belief that if the press stopped reporting on Paris, Nicole, Lindsey, etc., after a while they would stop acting as stupid as they have been, and just get back to what some might consider closer to a normal life, and few people would ask “whatever happened to…”

Paris is good filler material, because she’s someone who personifies everything we think is wrong with celebrities, the media, and pop culture, and yet we read what’s written about her all while complaining that she gets too much attention. She loves it, because she’s getting the attention that she thinks she deserves, and the media loves her, because she’s an easy target for a story. We hate her, but we love to hate her, so we can’t wait for another story about her for us to hate her even more. It’s a completely unnecessary cycle, and one that seems to be more prevalent now than at any point before. But the people that need to change are us. Paris isn’t going to learn to not act as she has when people are hanging on every little thing she does (though I do fear for the therapy bills any children she may spawn will have to pay). And the media isn’t going to turn away a cash cow.

The question is, can we stop paying attention?

Dustin: In one of the reports I read after she was released the Sheriff claimed he had the authority to release. Oft times there is a fair distance between a claim and truth.

Steve: If the Sheriff exceeded his authority, which it appears he well may have, that is exactly what should happen. At least in my opinion.

DCPP: Believe it or not I feel sorry for Paris. She has been reared in such a rarified atmosphere the young woman has no concept of the world which contributed mightily to this situation.

Vic: We, the public, help create the Paris Hiltons of the world and that is … sad.

Kim: I couldn’t agree more. The multi tiered system of justice robs the American Public of something we despertately need, especially now. Trust.

Steve: It wouldn’t surprise me if an investigation revealed more to the story. You are correct, we give celebrities their status and too often that gives them carte blanche to do as they will without fear of consequence. I think it is because we are a little envious, maybe a lot, of those who are more talented or better looking, or simply richer, than we are. It is a pretty sad statement about us.
